Batad Weekend Adventure | Banaue Rice Terraces | For First Timer

- This is the first part 1 (day 1) of our weekend adventure at Batad Village, Banaue, Ifugao.
Banaue is a municipality in the province of Ifugao. It is famous for its rice terraces and one of which is located in the village of Batad. The Batad Rice Terraces is just one of the five clusters in the UNESCO inscription of the Five Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras. The others are Mayoyao Central, Nagacadan, Bangaan, and Hungduan. This recognition has put Banaue on the global map and continuously contributes to the tourism industry of the Philippines.
UNESCO’s recognition is a sign of its cultural and historical value for the indigenous people of the Cordilleras. Built around two thousand years ago, these amphitheater-like rice terraces were carved into the hillside and are shaped through stone walls. It’s just really amazing that up to this day, the rice terraces are still being used for farming and the natives here kept the traditional way. What an impressive inheritance!
