This World Wonder Is Disappearing 🇵🇭

Banaue Rice Terraces, often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World" was carved into the mountain slopes of the Philippine Cordilleras over 2,000 years ago, these terraces are a testament to the ingenuity and resilience of the indigenous Ifugao people. This intricate network of terraces, cascades down the hillsides like ancient steps, showcasing the harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
The attraction of modern life, education and the influx of money from tourism pose a threat to the continuation of the use of the terraces. As does climate change.
Climate change poses a grave threat to the Banaue Rice Terraces. Erratic weather patterns and unpredictable rainfall have taken a toll on the delicate balance that sustains these terraces. Erosion, landslides, and weakened irrigation systems have become more frequent, jeopardising the traditional hillside farming techniques of the communities.
I met one of the farmers still working the terraces 8 hours a day at the ripe old age of 76 to learn about the dying art.

As the man said rice produced in their place is for their own food consumption, not commercialized, that is why you seldom see farmers in the fields.

Yes true but also If you look at the terraces there are trees and bushes growing all over, the walls are decaying, irrigation systems not working and people building their homes on the terraces because they are no longer workable as farms.
