MB E300D cold start in -35C

I decided to go to the work earlier then I normally do and there was no time to preheat my car. At the morning temperature was -35C and that is as cold as it ever gets in here. The car has 480k km on it.

Here in brazil we use ethanol as a fuel. Is very hard to start below 5ºc, so the car manufactors creates "cold start system". This system inject gasoline in the firsts seconds and the engine starts easily (due to high compression ratio in ethanol engines, higher than gasoline engine)

Ylleensä tämmösissä pakkasissa lähtee jokanen auto käyntiin jos vaan moottori ompi kunnossa... Usiasti ongelmana on vaan "liisterimäiset" Öljyt jonka takia motti ei jaksa pyöriä tarpeeksi...
Omaan autoon piti vaihtaa notkiammat öölit että lähtee yli 20° pakkasilla käymään...

Agreed! Plug in the block heater. My 190D with its OM601 came standard with a block heater. The glowplugs can only do so much. In fact, this temp is so damn cold, I'd get a burnsomatic and torch the intake manifold to heat the air inside. It helps if you really can't her started.

При условии дверь в гараж закрыть!
