    This is a Nissan 240SX S14 and you can't afford it. And even if you can, there's a million other platforms that would make a whole lot more sense for a modern drift car than this ancient tin can. Don't do it, it's not worth your time, it's not worth your money, do not buy a Nissan 240SX. Flat out there is no redeemable value here and nobody should have ever wanted one of these things.
    Site's down? I know man. Sticker order hasn't processed yet? I know man. I've been on a combination vacation/C*V*D bender for the past week. We're working on it. I'm gonna get you right. I just need a little time man.

I haven't owned a NA1 NSX yet but for what they're going for these days, even with rebuilt titles, a 6 Cyl Cayman or other cars with parts that aren't also unobtainium start to make more sense for similar money.

      I recently watched their Prelude video and yeah, that's just the market for Preludes. The cheap ones are junked out projects nobody ever got to. The really nice ones are museum pieces that you wouldn't even want to drive around. And the ones with around 120k and don't have any problems have tons of really stupid mods. I fully understand the hype behind wanting to own a clean 240, and would love to get one someday (I won't). But, there's something I just can't wrap my head around. If you have a low budget, and just want a cheap drift car, that you can beat the shit out of, why would you buy a clapped out rust-bucket 240 over literally anything else? There's countless better/cheaper options, that will serve the exact same purpose, and won't go bust on you almost immediately. As a bonus, they can actually be used as a daily if you must. There's literally no reason to buy a 240 over a 350z, sn95, or 328i, if all you want is to have something to slide around on the weekends. Cloutchasing is a hell of a drug I guess.

      Im hoping they fall down here in Europe. It's been one of my dream cars since childhood, Mostly because my dad used to own one (1990 200SX Pignose). That and because of Need For Speed Undercover and Prostreet, your starter car is always a 240SX.
      Anyways, the market for japanese cars here in the EU is fucked, 99% because of the JDM trend in the US. I've seen a few of the big names drop in price, but the SX always stands tall. Clapped out ones start at around 9000 USD. Just picture that for a sec. 9000 USD for an unwanted project/beater 200SX. Yeahhh, no.

My first experience of the S13 was NFS Undercover lol, it's crazy to see someone else who remembers it from that game. • @ThatTurboProbe
      @ThatTurboProbe Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@SomeOne_86 Hell yeah man, love the 626s aswell. I think the GE didn't recieve the Turbo F2T from the Probe GT/MX-6, but I might be wrong on that. It doesn't really matter though, the F2/T is pretty much bulletproof, seeing as it's derived from a Mazda lorry engine. I have never had any engine/gearbox related problems, but only electrical issues such as the AFM burning up, the entire cables melting and so on.
      Anyways, keep it, enjoy it and don't let it go. If you know anything about that series of Ford + Mazda collaborations, its that they are rare and hard to find in good condition. I've noticed that in Europe the MX-6 and 626 are much rarer than in the US, with the opposite for the Probe.

      @@ThatTurboProbe I have the later GE IV, but it's only a 1.8 FP lol, I want to get a KL into it at some point but my country's laws when it comes to engine swaps are straight a$$, so I'll probably have to wait until I finish my education and move out of here. I've had some crazy electrical issues too lmao, at one point my wipers would randomly turn on if you had the left indicators on, I went to 4 electricians and nobody could figure it out, turns out it was just a ground lol. My biggest issues have been with rust, my example is pretty bad and will need extensive work since the former owners did REALLY bad repairs on it. Since it's an old car, registration costs on it are cheap so I can just keep it forever even if I'm not driving it often, so I'm not thinking about selling it, like you said-They're pretty rare.👍

    • @ThatTurboProbe
      @ThatTurboProbe Před 9 měsíci

      @@SomeOne_86 Im gonna keep it honest, if you love that 626 and you wanna pour money into it to make it absolutely perfect, even if it requires moving away, absolutely do it.
      It was my plan with the Probe. I wanted to completely restore it and later on in life RWD swap it and throw in the V8 from the Terminator Cobra. Also, the previous owner was so fucking retarded that I can't fathom how and why he bought it in the first place. Let me throw you some examples:
      • He threw away almost all of the plastic clip buttons and screws and just used bath tile silicone to hold the interior trim together
      • He used the same silicone to hold the rear left headlight in place
      • He left the interior dirty and smelling worse than a rats ass (pretty sure he once vomited in it and didn't want to clean it up, so he bought a small plastic tub bubblegum airfreshener and just stuck it on the dash)
      • He let the car sit in the sun unprotected for years and even let that air freshener sit in the car all that time with the windows closed. Yummy. You can't begin to imagine the absolutely disgusting smell in the interior when I first stepped in it.
      • He didn't do basic maintanence and left the F2T with a lifter tick from not changing the oil and banging it arounf nonstop. I'm also pretty sure he drove it hard when the engine was still cold.
      You can see why I wanted to save it. I felt so sorry for the car being abused by an absolute dickhead and knew that it deserved better. I bought it for €2500 with a lot of spare parts and never looked back, even if my entire family (apart from my parents) ragged on me for buying an abused victim, and a powerful one at that. I had to hear "Its too powerful for you, you'll crash it" and "It'll be unreliable, you should've bought a Golf" nonstop.
      Unfortunately, they were right about me having an accident in it. My Probe was totaled on December 25th 2022.
      I don't want to get into the specifics but basically someone was overtaking on the opposite side and came into my lane. I swerved to not hit him and ended up hitting a ditch, sticking the front end into the dirt and catapulting me into the forest, hitting multiple trees whilst flipping and ending up on my roof. Of course, the asshole that caused it ran away and I had to be pulled out of the car by my best friend. Walked away from a crash that should've killed me with a dislocated shoulder and a few cuts from the glass. And my first words to my friend?
      "Is it bad? Is the car alright?"
      I guess I cared more about the car than my life lol. I was rushed to the hospital and got out a few days later. Then I saw the Probe for the first time after the crash in my driveway.
      The roof was caved in. The A and B Pillars were completely bent. The front glass was penetrated by a tree on the passenger side. The trunk section was completely caved in. I cried for days on end before I finally sold it to someone with, you guessed it, a Mazda 626 GT. He took the car apart, saved the mechanical components like the engine and gearbox, and scrapped the chassis.
      I miss my Red Rocket so much, but Its time to move on. Decided Im gonna buy a V6 Firebird and wing it from there, since my country had no Probes for sale and importing one in from Germany again is too complicated and expensive for me now since Im a student.
      Maybe later in life, I'll get one again and finish what I started. Just wanted to gush out a bit and tell you that you should enjoy every waking second with that 626, because you never know when someone or something will take it from you. Take care of yourself and drive safely.

    The "1.5J" Is not as hard to do as you think. The 1J and 2J even share some parts together. Its not hard to mate a 1J head to the 2J block because even the deck is only about 3cm difference and its very good for drifting because a 1JZ GTE head flows better and has better port velocity than trying to turbo a 2JZ vvti GE head, allowing you to spool faster and more efficiently. Also mating the 1JZ GTE vvti head to the 2JZGE's block can get you better compression and the 1J vvti GTE head can take more power stock for stock. The 2JZ GE vvti overall is actually worse for making power stock internals because of the bad flow in the head and weak rods in the block.
    Mating the 1J head to it doesnt necessarily "solve" this issue, but it helps a lot and is a cheap way to reliably turbo the worst series of the 2J, and considering 1J heads arent too hard to find or expensive compared to trying to find a 2JZ-GTE non vvti head id say that 1.5J's have a legitimate reason to be a thing. You can find plenty of people to work on them as well, if someone can work on a 2j, they can more than likely do work on a 1j too.

If you think about it, the biggest MVP's are the guys that write for Japanese car mags like Option. Unlike American car journos that always have new stuff to write about, they've had to write about the same 7 Japanese cars for the past 30 years while still trying to keep people interested.

    I would say its a cope because they cant afford one, but between the cost of a nice S chassis car, the parts and labor, DUDE, just get a Challenger WB. But keep that one stock. Dont go modding the Apache engines. Hellcats are more open for mods but you gotta know what youre doing. Theyre temperamental engines. Even oil changes are quircky, and people do them wrong ALL THE TIME, and then wonder why the engine blew up.

      @@casualgamers3369 At a certain point all of these tuners will start building their own cars from scratch. I already seen this at my last track day where more and more people are building their own space frame race cars instead of modding. So for drifting we'll probably see this. In highly modded drift cars there is barely anything left from the original car anyway except the frame, half the body panels and the dashboard.
