Antonio, many years ago I think I remember you doing a review on a briefcase/duffel looking thing that was handmade from Buffalo leather
It had a wierd locking mechanism as opposed to a buckle or a zipper and it looked super elegant and classy
I forget the name of the bag and the company, its an American company that was ran by an old man with a giant grey beard and glasses

Honestly I would love the City Backpacks. Both colors are great and versatile. You can definitely switch it up a lot. I watch the channel and take notes so I would wear this with work attire fasho. I work with a Personal Injury Law Group as a Intake Advisor so I always want to look my best. Plus, I would wear the satchels too when I knew I would be meeting a new client. Please pick me. If not, keep that 🔥🔥🔥🔥 content coming.

Mahi has some great-looking products. I can't afford to buy one until (I hope) next year, but I would get either The Harvard or The Messenger bag in ebony or vintage brown. Either one would be great for moving my marketing project documents and my notebook computer to and from the office. It would take my professional look up a notch or two.

I'm glad you mentioned the part about the back problems having a bag over one shoulder can cause. Messenger bags were a trend when i was in college in the 2000s (bear in mind how heavy laptops were back then) You'd be amazed how many people from those college years now walk with a lean. One of my friends at the time used to load up his messenger so heavy in fact that his shoes wore away on the left side, not the heel like usual.

Personally, the City Backpack and Classic Backpack 3.0 in black will probably be a great go to. Since I'm still a student, it's a lot more practical holding on my supplies and carrying it throughout the day. Also since it's leather, it carries more acceptance in a work environment that might look down upon a stereotypical backpack.

Hi Antonio, I’m glad you mentioned the health factor of backpacks. As a tall guy with a long back, after carrying briefcases and messenger bags for years it certainly does cause some significant shoulder pain and posture problems. The nature of my work involves travelling between different offices, and often on track in the railway corridor or to rail workshops, so a backpack is definitely the much better option. The city backpack you were showing in the video would have to be my favourite, its versatility and stash pockets (there’s nothing worse than trying to find your wallet or a pen in a hurry when its buried at the bottom of your bag) certainly makes life easier for people in my line of work. I love that with the handle, in more formal settings or when you are wearing a suit it can be carried and blend in just as well as a briefcase, yet still fits in and doesnt look too formal when I’m in hi-vis and a hard hat!

Good info, Antonio! I never thought much about the differences between bags so it's cool to hear the distinctions. I'm a fan of the satchels, particularly the Messenger and the Harvard. The bags I've owned have almost always been nylon, but leather? Classy.

I've had bad experiences with backpacks as I used to fill them up too much and now I have a bad back. So to rectify this, I only use messenger bags and briefcases. My messenger bag is very old, made of canvas, and is falling apart, although it was never very appropriate for my use. I'm an artist and need to carry my portfolio and sometimes prints and original artworks with me, so my carry is always rather light. That navy messenger on MAHI is one of the nicest looking messenger bags I have ever seen! And would definitely make a good impression when trying to make a sale. It looks very professional and is what I'm currently missing from my pitches.
    Great video as always Antonio!

Love the Yale clip-up or Classic Satchel in vintage brown, both look so professional and sleek and have that short-drop carry handle. I'd pair it with a navy blue suit/tie/pants, white shirt, and brown Oxfords (rounds out the colors pretty nicely). Applying to medical school this upcoming year, a leather briefcase really steps up the interview game and sets the professional vibe in clinical years and beyond!

Antonio, thank you for this video, I have learned a great deal! I carry a hard side leather briefcase daily for work and love it; as you say it requires you to decide what's important to pack, requires prep and planning for the day ahead, and limits the carrying of unnecessary items. One thing I would have liked in Mahi’s on-line catalog would have been some more pictures from different angles and showing the bags opened up. When I shop in person, I would look at this way as it helps me decide if the bag would meet my needs. Of the satchels shown, I think my preference would either be the Harvard in either tan or brown, or the Classic Satchel in brown.

For an overnight trip though, or just running around town on the weekend it’s hard to beat the backpack. Stylish, sport and functional I can throw essential toiletries in there and be good to go wherever I am. That said - the briefcase is someone I really like.

I would go for the Messenger, the Yale or the Harvard in vintage brown. I like the sleekness & simplicity of the first 2, while being more versatile than the laptop bags. With the Harvard, I like that it has extra storage, but it’s constructed in a way that the other pockets don’t stand out. Also, the darker brown colour gives a professional look without appearing overly formal. One could have the bag in professional and nonprofessional settings and look good without appearing out of place.

I sometimes like being able to carry something in a briefcase configuration. My main bag is a Taskin One V9 backpack. I can hide the shoulder straps and attach a briefcase style sling to the side in less than a minute. Even better, when it opens up flat, I can keep the shoulder strap on and let the side drop open to reach anything inside. That way, it doesn't fall to the floor if there's a lot of stuff inside.

Antonio, I found this video very entertaining and informative, and I really appreciate all the advice that you give out. I'm a relatively new viewer, and I find your story very inspirational for the fact that you are an Eagle Scout, retired military, and started your own successful business. If I had to choose between backpack and satchel, I would probably choose backpack because I've used backpacks the most in my life. I am currently a Star Scout, 17, finishing up the rank of Life, and I have always found backpacks very reliable, very useful when it comes to Scouting campouts, school, and any other daily life activities. As for the backpacks at Mahi leather, as much as the Explorer, Roma, and Nomad backpacks look, I would have to agree with you when it comes to the City backpack especially in the color of Mahogany. I am more of a darker color person and it seems more natural than black. Since I am a scout and understand the importance of taking care or items, and especially learning from my parents, I would probably use it for maybe Scout meetings at most, but not campouts and store things like a Patrol or Troop binder in it, and anything for an activity for the week like ropes for knot tying, maybe some fire starting tools...NO GASOLINE for sure!!! And I would use it for school carrying things like a binder, textbooks, lunch, water bottles, and overall it would be a great way to stand out from the rest of the crowd in general since I already stand out with a bald head, and unique outfit. Once after I graduate from school, and age out of Scouts, I would use it in college, right now I am not sure of what college yet, I am still thinking of some places.
As for the satchel, I really want to start finding new ways to incorporate it in my life because I love how simple it is, makes you have to think about and carry less and holds more responsibility in not loosing it. I really like either the Messenger, or the Classic in brown. Especially the Classic. I would use it to carry homework and schoolwork around, maybe put a laptop in it if I had one of my own. Also one of the things I want to do in life is to write, to be a writer, and it would encourage me to take responsibility in where I bring it. I also have the intention to serve in the military like my parents, and you, unfortunately not the Marine Corps, but I will say Semper Fi to you Antonio, and thank you for helping to protect my future in this country. Again, I would use it in College after graduating from high school. Thank you again so much for making these videos, sharing about things in your life, and the suggestion of what we like in the comments. I am not asking you for a bag since I feel like that is the wrong thing to do around Christmas time and from my personal opinions. I just want to be grateful for what I have this year, and I hope that you have a great Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever you celebrate with your family. If you were to send a bag, I would be extremely grateful and yet a little awkward about it since to me it would feel a little awkward, and have a great rest of your day Antonio.

The backpack is my go to bag. My Old Backpack makes it easier to carry all my daily things I drag around from job to job and it keeps my hands free especially as I am drinking a coffee. Backpacks are much kinder to my shoulders, and easier to run with when I am late for work :), I would Love a new backpack to rock with my new wardrobe as I lost 70lbs this past year. By the way I love your channel I learned alot of things about trying to style the new me.

Would love a dark business-style leather backpack like that classic model. I saved up for a leather briefcase because I graduated and am currently interviewing, and I knew if I could only have one I'd prefer the more formal option so that it suits interviewing at conservative offices. But sometimes it can feel a little too much for interviewing for creative roles or in more casual offices, and a minimalist leather backpack would be perfect for covering that spot in my wardrobe.

I travel, avg 100 flights annually, use a professional backpack and one experience changed my outlook on backpacks; I attended an annual company meeting with only c-suite and upper level execs. The last day we all had our luggage in a room (all checked out of hotels) and the entire room was a sea of random luggage with attached professional black ballistic nylon backpacks. Not a brief or piece of leather in the room.
I’ve got several leather briefs that never get used due to the rigors of my travel. I used the brief when I was in/out office daily but, for travel, it’s backpack all day, every day.
Side note: good call on the security mention of people having access to your pack when it’s on your back. I’ve seen it happen.

I really liked The Classic Backpack
    (camel) and The City Backpack
(vintage brown). I've chosen the light color version as I usually wear dark color clothes and the contrast will look good on me.
By the way, great work that you are doing. I would love to hear you speak about Indian traditional clothes too, like kurtas, sherwanis, panjabis, etc. Do give it a thought.

I'd go with a briefcase because I live in a very hot country and I'm tired of having a huge backpack sweat print on my shirt. I love the Harvard in vintage brown, it seems like a very capable brief case with lots of space for books and papers (I carry a lot of stuff). I would style it with a light grey suit, white shirt; a blue silk tie; oak coloured tasseled loafers and a brown belt with a brass buckle.

I would choose the classic duffle or the Columbus for the gym: easy to carry, enough room for your working out clothes and some pockets for shampoo, deodorant, towel, etc. I also found the Yale clip-up super practical for any type of job that has to move around with a computer, maybe a silicon valley developer that moves around the office, or a consultant that does 2 or 3 presentations a day: open, place your laptop, command your message and leave with class. You don't wanna be having to open and close many zips and locks.

  • @MitchellCollardPercussion

    Hey Antonio!
I would choose "The City" and "The Harvard" bags in vintage brown for my choices. The city backpack would fantastic to fit all my university supplies and maybe some cool things for the kiddos I look after at a daycare once school is out. Plus it would be awesome aditiin to the brown leather jacket I have when riding my motorcycle. If I have a day off from work and just want the essentials (laptop and notebooks) the Harvard bag look perfect and absolutely gorgeous. Being a fair toned red head the brown bags are are a fantastic option and match my wardrobe or warm and bright colours much better!

Great video! I'm a software engineer in a big corp. I was thinking about getting a leather messenger bag to have a different feel and look over the big majority of people who just wear nylon/canvas backpacks, but I'm concerned about looking too formal or stand out in a negative way. People do not dress too officially here due to the warmer climate. Your thoughts?

I think I’d go for the compact laptop satchel in black. After previously owning a bigger black lather satchel more like a doctors bag which eventually wore out, I’d prefer something more minimalist. It’s largely a paper free world these days so you just want something clean professional and functional.
