- On Abbie's last day of school she had a sensory overload at a place she's been to many times and loves going to. It's interesting how things like that can change from day to day. Summer has started and I can't wait to share our adventures with you! First up...a new toilet training plan!

Yes!!! I cried when they cut her hair so short! Asa and Priscilla, PLEASE don't cut her hair that short again!!! Pretty please! And it's actually harder to take care of short...longer hair is easier for ponys and braids or whatever...can't do that very well with shorter hair and if you do manage to, it falls out fast. Just my

About the sensory overload: I know y'all are well in tune with this. I can tell, because you listed a bunch of ”it might be” causes. But, for new to autism parents, I find it really helpful to sit in any given place/situation and try to concentrate equally on every part of the experience (noise level, fans, seating sensations, kitchen noises, engine noises riding by etc) at once. If you do that a few times, you can see why our kids get so easily overwhelmed. I hear so many well meaning loved ones say things like, ”why does he let those little things upset him so much?” I try to explain that they really don't understand what is important to concentrate on (traffic and temperature of food) versus what is unimportant (like a fan, or a loud ice machine), so they try to take it all in with equal importance, and it is OVERWHELMING when you try it yourself. Sorry for the lengthy comment, but it is helpful to try and empathize. Thanks for what you all do.

I wish Abbie the best with her toilet trainning! She is such a beautiful sweet girl! Asa, Priscilla and Isaiah you ALL are such a great family and support for Abbie! I love watching your videos and seeing Abbie accomplish many things in her life. My son is on the Autism spectrum and seeing him accomplish just a small thing is huge! Love you guys!

My kids are 7 and 9 and their father slowly has made his way out of their life and they have been taking it really hard. To see Asa with Abbie warms my heart. You guys are truly amazing parents and I cant tell you enough how important that is to your kiddos. No matter how hard life gets you still push through. You guys are awesome.

Also congrats Abbie on graduating to high school you have really opened my eyes to those with mental disabilities. Thank you. I work with the elderly and at times dementia is difficult for me to handle and as it isn't the same thing you have shown me patience..
Cathy is having meltdowns as I'm typing this. Going on 17 in August and I see the maturity but also the setbacks. We watch your videos together to let her know we, She is not alone. The medication is what they can't get a handle of! And it makes me angry & disappointed for Her! Thanks for always posting!
Priscilla, this is in reference to the rompers! Try forever 21 they usually are a little longer! And also H&M! Abbie looked TOO CUTE in the overalls! They’re def in right now! 💓🤗 you guys are just the best!
Cristina Gilly I don’t think she would wear that type of clothing, autistic kids are generally really picky with clothing because of sensory overload. Chiffon or anything that sticks to your skin would cause them to just take it off because of the heat. Notice how she almost always wears a certain type of comfort shorts made out of synthetic cotton, or if it’s denim it’s loose stretchy jegging type material and not harsh to the skin. She’s better suited to softer clothing from Ross, even though it’s not as cute for her it’s more a comfort thing with material for autistic kids.
Donald Wambugu i never wear anything tight or not soft I actually have a sensory thing as well. Only thing I wear are leggings. U can find anything in those stores if you look! All of my rompers are soft soft cotton.

I watch these videos because I used to work with people who have mental disabilities and I absolutely loved it. They were the sweetest even when they had bad behaviors. I currently work with children and some of them have autism, I love people and I love helping people.

Asa.... y’all are such an inspiration to me. Where can I write to Priscilla or yourself about how to bring up testing for autism for older people?. I never got why I can’t “fit in” and I see you guys explain all the sensory hardships that some people may feel and it’s opened my eyes to my own sensory issues. I’m 29 yrs old so I’m too embarrassed for people around me or the doctors to laugh if I mention autism.

I bet you guys know this, but just a tip. Prepare the area a while before you start the training. So that she is not all about the plastic covering on the sofa, but thinks that the plastic on the sofa is the norm. Like just have the whole house be something she is okay with a while before you commit to the whole thing :)
