Definitely feel like the uniformity was commentary on how some people just want a partner who plays the expected role but it really doesn't matter who that person is to them. They see the wife role as interchangeable as long as they can cook and clean and be just a "wife" without any individuality, don't care about getting to know their partner on a deeper level.

I agree! I also heard that the hair was symbolic of how wives are all subject to the same and are thought of as the same bc they all have the same clothes and hair and are not distinct from each other. As well as the foot coming down on them symbolizing how wives are tread on and mistreated.
