I saw someone post this speech on Instagram. I immediately looked it up to watch on CZcams. Shawn’s music I do enjoy and like a lot of, though I’m not a all time big fan toward him. I love him as a person though. This speech honestly hit home for me as I’m sure it did a lot of other people out there. Just in general aspects as well as those who also want ti be singers/songwriters like myself. That regardless if you have a hit song or many or none at all, if you don’t win any awards, despite any of that you are enough. You should hold yourself to be enough and to believe in yourself to reach any level you want to achieve in life or in ur dreams. I remember him saying in an interview before that it was so hard for him to not look down on his music after having so much success when he first started out and even Olivia Rodrigo mentioned having that fear of post success on the worry she wouldn’t be enough if she didn’t make more hits. It’s a huge pressure and something I feel like I have to do myself by writing an amazing song that hits every chart. Either way great speech :)

@@LindsayJoy_ I just checked out your channel! I’m curious what mic and headphones do you use? Also when you record covers do you connect the audio from the daw you recorded your vocals in to the video when editing before posting? I know Tate McRae for example with her older videos it seems she had it to where you could hear the audio of her vocals from the daw she was recording on. So like idk if that’s bc there’s a way you can just have it be heard like that or if you need to take that recorded audio and put it with the audio of the video you recorded in Adobe audition or something. Also yeah it’s really tough to be a singer/songwriter not criticizing yourself every second. A lot of songs rn I have the melodies for and some lyrics out of it, but will either delete or rewrite constantly.
@@mikecapalungan i'm a beginner with equipment stuff so the mic i use is an AT-2035 and the headphones are the ATH-M20x's (both are Audio Technica). when i record my covers, i download an instrumental from youtube that i like and put it into my daw. i then record my vocals in the daw with it. i record the video from my phone and i just use this one program that i have from microsoft on my computer (i forgot what it's called hahah). i then put the audio, both the vocals and instrumental, on top of the video. i sometimes mute the video taken from my phone if just the audio sounds better, but if i want to add more depth, i have the volume on low from the video. thanks for checking my channel out too!! and yes same, a lot of my ideas just get rewritten, thrown out, etc.
@@LindsayJoy_ ah I see, thank you! Also what daw do you use? I gotta get familiar with GarageBand more, but have thought about just jumping into Logic Pro. Also yeah I’m thinking on getting the audio technica at-2020 and either the byerdynamic dt 770 pro or the audio technica ATH m50x headphones. I play guitar as well, so imma get a cable for the interface I’m gonna get. I’m then also gonna get an electric piano to use for piano, a synthesizer, drums, bass lines, etc. Right now I already have a midi though it’s not as versatile as I thought it was. Even though I have a guitar, I wanna get a new one that’s of higher quality so I’m probably going to be buying a new a guitar as well. Prob the fender Stratocaster player series.

So weird to sit there and listen to that isn't it. But you gave them some self-confidence in your speech which is good.
It's because we get used to things. I write about it in my book. Even if what we're doing is considered great success or important, if you're a perfectionist, you focus on the things to improve, to make better, you focus on the work and the struggle and the negativity, and not on the achievements that you already have to your name. That approach will probably make you better, in whatever it is you're doing, but only to a certain extent. Your health will deteriorate with time because you're pushing yourself and living under constant, never-ending pressure. Stress will eat you. And this will have influence on how successful you can get, so... balance between work and being happy from the work you're doing is important to consider. You can't just focus on forever improving and being the best and working endlessly to overcome another thing in your way to the top. You need to realize that with time, performing some task repeatedly, there's no way you're not going to improve. And you don't need to improve faster than everybody!!! You just need to be a good person and a good example for people to follow, especially if your life is public. That's your goal, not being some kind of unrealistic God-like persona.
You are enough "everything" for me ... my hockey, song writer, podcasts, suit wearing bonito... the epitome of me. Such a shame I'd only be robbing your cradle...ish, ish. 💋
