- In this video we clean up and gloss up the old paint job on the barn find 52 Ford F1 pickup truck. This truck is an incredible survivor and a real barn find! It has been in the same family since it was new and has been passed down thru 4 generations. It has the 215 OHV 215 cubic inch inline 6 and a 3 speed on the column ( 3 on the tree). It"s really incredible the difference it made to the old paint job. Stay tuned for future videos of this truck once we get it back on the road again.

I volunteer at a local Veteran's Home. As a Vet myself I know the importance of finding anything possible to help with PTSD. We shared this Video with 20 Vets who absolutely loved every minute! Our oldest Vet is 83! He loved seeing something so familiar. Please know that while these may just be videos to y'all, they are wonderful forms of pure entertainment to others.
Wow that’s so awesome thank you
Awesome 👍
So true, at 73, I am still a car nut, and I know you and your family are bringing joy to more people than you know.
Thank u Chef for helping our Vets! This truck was owned by a Veteran! He was my wife’s papaw.

It's always a treat to see the whole Sleeperdude crew working together on such a cool project. Even the chickens made a appearance!
Thank you
@@Sleeperdude I say a REality series better than Magnolia Farms
The real beauty of these videos is dad spending true quality time with his family. The cars will come & go but the family is forever.
That’s true, trying my best
Yes another one brought back to life! Not only are you saving old vehicles but also making memories for your children for the rest of their lives. And YES save the wagons they're becoming fewer and fewer as the years go by.
Thank you I agree
You don't see trucks like this with a story like this much anymore. I'm glad y'all found it and were able to rescue it before it was too late.
Yes for sure
I swear the best part of any of your videos is the little hand ✋ and you place it at the right point every time. It cracks me up 😂 😂. Love your channel Sleeper dude.
Thank you
You really made a great difference in the way that 70 year old truck looks for sure. Glad to see the whole family pitching in on this one. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you I appreciate it
Glad to see the 52 getting some much needed love. When I was your kids age my dad had a 1949 Ford that same color. He sold it and started buying cars so everyone could ride inside. I am a little older than this truck, I am a 1947 model. Keep up the good work.
Thats awesome thank you
Couldn’t imagine watching CZcams without you guys .. love the channel , Thank you !!👍
Thank you I appreciate it
My grandpa bought his 67 fairlane 500 XL for his graduation present for himself, he drag raced it for a bit and he still drives it to this day, we just went for a drive today and its rust free and were restoring it.
That’s awesome !!
Always love seeing the whole family getting involved! Wow what a beautiful transformation! Love those old Fords!
Thank you
I used steel wool and chrome cleaner to clean front grill on my truck back in the 70s and it came out pretty good. Just a tip . Lol
And if you do. Make sure to use thin steel wool. It only takes off just enough to not scratch or take off to much at a time. If know what I mean. I'm sure you do . If you ever want to know how to fix upholstery without having to replace it all let me know. I've been doing what your doing and a lot of things for over 40 years. And just love watching what your all doing . Even on are road trips . Because it feels like I'm right in cars with you all .
Awesome thank you
It's so cool to have your family working together. It gives me hope for the future we need more family's in the world like this. God Bless you guys!! Absolutely love this!!
Yes we do thank you
we done it to the jeeps in korea but then we got in trouble they told us camo isnt suppose to shine but boy they looked good till we got busted. great show i loved it thanks for being on here doing this
That’s funny thank you
I just SO love watchin' a happy family doin' stuff together.. That coupled with the movie intermission music just makes my day....
Thank you
Reminds me of my Grandad's '47 Ford, same color with black running boards and white grille. Most dangerous brakes in the world! Very tight and extra touchy... Thanks for stirring up wonderful memories.
Awesome glad you enjoyed it
Truck turned out great, the mirrors are “Turbo “ mirrors an aftermarket we got them at Shopko (early version of Walmart) popular on Pintos, Vegas the cheap version of that type of car had one cheap looking mirror, I would change them unless some sentimental value. Really love the channel, you and your family are so real and genuine, thanks.
Thank you . Yeah I’m not sure if they want to leave them on or not
The absolutely best thing about this channel is the family dynamics I love it how much you get to do things with your kids I do also love the cars aswell even if I've had a rubbish day I watch your videos and I'm guaranteed to have a smile on my face 😀 thank you 👍🏻ps give rocky and his crew some animal crackers for me 🐐
Thank you for watching glad you enjoyed it
Wow, I would have never imagined using boiled linseed oil to bring back a little shine to old paint!! I gotta try that with my car!!! Thanks for the tip!
Yes some people use mineral spirits with it as well
It's an old trick from way back
You know a car channel is entertaining when my wife will sit and watch an episode with me. You guys are great, those are some dang good kids you got there. You and the wife are definitely raising them right!
That’s awesome I am blessed
I agree! Your youngest was the hardest working member of the team! Take her out for some ice cream! Cool stuff, and a great family! and pets!
What a great truck. Love those old Ford sixes too. Never was too keen on the flat head v8's. This old Ford should be designated a national treasure!
True
I had the Samford and Son theme going thru my head during the entire video. That one was a red '51. This one looks better at 70 years old that the S&S truck did at 21 years old (in 1972 when the show started). Fun video, cool trick. Thanks!
Yeah that’s funny.. thanks so much for your generosity
The whole family did a great job on that 52 ford pickup. Amazing job by all, an God Bless you all
Thank you
Truck is great. What I loved is you involving your family. Those memories will last them their entire life. Great job Mom and Dad.
Thank you
Think its awesome that the whole family takes an interest in the cars and trucks. Its great the family can be part of the show. I believe family is important. Seems now days family's just aren't as close as they should be, maybe they can see how family should be a family Enjoy the channel.
Thank you I am blessed
I am so impressed how your kiddos are willing to help. Give yourself a pat on the back. Kids like that only come from great parents.
Thank you
Cherish that family time together. What you have there is almost unheard of these days. Soon the children will find time with their friends more interesting than Mom and Dad
Yes for sure thank you
Really like your videos. Love how your whole family is involved even your critters. Rocky is awesome I get a good laugh every time I see him. Ralphie is lucky boy to have a dad like you. Cool to watch him learn. Keep up the good work and God bless good people like you and your family.
Thank you
I enjoy watching Your videos. The close relationship you have with your family is awesome. Your kids will remember these times for the rest of their lives. They will have stories to tell their children and grandchildren. Keep up the great work you’re doing! I love old cars and trucks too. Let’s keep them on the road!😎
Thank you 😊
It's crazy how a polish and bringing dead/faded paint back to life changes the appearance of a vehicle. The rig looks great Josh!
Yes it is crazy thank you
I've got a 51 with the original flathead. I've been restoring it for a couple years now with my now 14 year old daughter. She thinks she's going to drive it to school, but no power steering, no power brakes, three on the tree. We'll just have to see. Either way I will cherish the hours we've spent together and the opportunity to teach her about mechanical stuff, body and paint stuff, and the value of good ol' elbow grease. I'm sure she will remember long after I'm gone. Great stuff, Dad!
That’s awesome keep up the good work … thank you
Although ive seen the patina sauce done on a few different channels before, it definitely does work for those old cruddy paint jobs. An amazing transformation for that old girl. Great job as always and im always excited for the next 1.
Thank you
Those mirrors are aftermarket from Pep Boys probably from the 70s. Manny Moe and jack👍🇺🇸
Sounds about right
Love the vids with the whole family in them...(pets included) The simplicity of an old truck like this one is just wonderful in an age where we have so many technical things in vehicles now that create so many more points of failure. Enjoyed this immensley Josh!
Yeah that is very true
Mirrors look like Ford
Nice to watch a young family "working" together so sweetly... Thanks!;
So cool! My Grandpa had a 52 just like it. I got to drive it a few times. Bringing back memories.
That’s awesome
Original truck owner's manual. What a great find.
To show you how much people have been dumbed down. Back then the owner's manual told you how to set the points and adjust the valves. Now the owner's manual tells you not to drink the battery acid.
Exactly !!!!!!!
Love, love this truck..born the same year '52 as me..what I wouldn't give to have that truck..the Patina is PERFECT..love your channel, been watching for a long time.I was raised in a car family,so as a gal I know a thing or two about vehicles and the classics are surely THE best!!
Much love to You and the Family!!
That’s awesome thank you
I was born in '52 as well and have wanted one of these trucks for a long time. But just can't afford to buy one.
Same here, I need to find something from 1952 to restore, preferably an old Triumph motorcycle.
Wow that old truck looks happy💕 It’s so fun to drive old trucks like that with standard transmission and 3 on the tree! It’s a hoot! Great job and Squeezy too!!!
Thank you yes they are
Crocks are the new detailing shoes.Your kids realy put their hearts and elbow greese in cleaning the old truck and man it does look nice.
Yes for sure
A few products I’ve used to shine up the cars before listing are automatic transmission fluid, and penetrol. I liked the atf because you can get it used for free, and the oil really helps to protect against any further rusting, and does not leave a greasy finish.
Ok cool
How long does this stuff last?
@@fridtjofriibe5961 I’ve seen about 4-6 months with atf, penetrol was a bit longer at about 8-12.
I love how you get the kids involved The world needs more of that
Yes for sure
you guys are a treasure i love how close you are and this is how family's were in the 50's .
We had a '49 Jimmy on the farm where I grew up. The greenish paint with patina is almost identical to this one. It sat for 20 years; we got it running about 10 years ago. I haven't been to the farm in ages, but she sits in the shed waiting for some love. Great video. 💯
Thank you
The Linseed oil works everytime!! Good video everyone. Very nice truck.!!👍👍👍
Thank you
Man I love that truck, what a beauty just as she sits. Great video, and great Family interaction. Thank you for creating this channel, thoroughly enjoy everything you guys are doing.
Great Stuff, great Family.
God Bless.
Thank you I appreciate it
My son's first truck was an 1986 F150 4x4. Paint was okay, but he wanted another color. Bought 20 cans of Kryon, sanded to prep, and rattle-canned the whole thing after masking. Came out great. When he went wheeling and scratched it, he pulled out a fresh can of paint and touched it up.
That’s works
I don't know what entertains more, the cleaning of all the vehicles or seeing all the goats, the goats are hilarious and not to forget the Mr. Pig, I don't remember his or her name, thanks for including them in your videos, and sure looks like the goats love to help you and the kids clean the vehicles .
Thank you it’s a zoo around here
its nice to see the kids and mom helping
Thank you I am blessed
I love it. It's a family tradition! Everyone gets involved in the cleaning of the cars and trucks. Great video as always 😊

So good to see a little boy being a little boy. Learning about cars and running around barefoot, shirtless and just short pants in the summer. Brings back a lot of memories from the early 60s for me!
I am with you about the crocks!
Thank you he’s the best helper

I had a 1952 F2 when I was 16. We had to sell it because we needed the money. Best truck I ever had. Many memories. Nice save on this one, Great video.
Truck looks so much better really like the way the oil changed the finish I hope it holds up well
Me to thanks
I love the way you get the whole family involved, so great to watch. I try to never miss a post, I really love the channel. I am in the process of getting a 87 Diplomat police package back on the road, after being neglected for years. It's getting close to daily driver status. I also learn from your posts, never heard of linseed oil before, but you got my attention.Keep up the great work, and I'll keep watching.
That’s awesome keep up the good work
Always loves those grills. Patina makes it even better. Whole truck looks great.
Yes I think so to
What a beauty! That is the way these beauties should be presented in life. Love, love, love!!!

You guys did an awesome job 👏 it looks great. I love how the kids help you, and how detailed they get.
Thank you
If that ol truck never runs again, life will still be something special, as the memory's of all them young uns working together to smear that ol girl down in the oil. there's a country song in that somewhere.
That’s true
24:03 "We got a murder hornet"... ABSOLUTELY LOVE your wit!! One of the best channels on the tube!
Thank you
Wow I'm old school, but you got me with that l/oil. HATS OFF TO YOU. THE TRUCK LOOKS GREAT
Thank you I’m glad you liked it
The Doolittle family! Nice job using the boiled linseed oil.you could sand the wood in the bed and apply linseed oil there. I had a an old one tine power wagon I made a flat bed for and sealed it with linseed oil 👍
Thank you
I enjoy watching the work on all the hooptie cars, but ain't nothing like seeing an all original truck like that come back to life. Those 50s Fords are the epitome of classic truck too. Chevy right up there. When I was a kid I'd spend time in the summer on a relative's farm in SC. Was always told those old trucks were designed to be cleaned with a hose inside and out. Maybe not wet the seats every day, but whenever it got dusty and muddy you'd just open the doors and clean floors and hose off the entire thing. No rags. No brushes. Don't know if it's they way they were designed, but certainly the way the were used!
Yeah for sure
Not sure what is better ... That patina machine emerging from the rubble , or seeing such a well oiled machine of a family knocking that truck out of the park !
Thank you I am blessed
I am SO GLAD you showed the finished door! You guys did a GREAT job!
Thank you
She cleaned up lovely.
I love the 80’s wing mirror. Nice touch 😂
Thank you
I am so glad you and your family are working on this Ute Josh. You will keep the ute true to original. I am looking forward to the next video on this Ford.
Ok thank you
The old truck came out beautiful! Dang, though, it's only a year older than me!
Thank you
It was nice to see squeezey so involved. Great family content. You guys rock. Looking forward to the next video

I have a neighbor, I don't post last names but John W. L. rolled a 50 ford just like this one into his shop lasn september of 21. He is eighty five years old and he really is in the shape of a say sixty year old man (sometimes having lots of money does help) but he took the time an cleaned the insides first... rightly I shouldn't say as when I did look at it first, he had the interior completely out and that includes the cover for the transmission too. His time he spent meant he didn't have to go to church with his wife who spent more than half of the week there... he always went sunday morning but then he spent the rest of those days working on his projects. He owns the largest collection of Internationals in alaska... I'd say maybe a thousand trucks of all years and sizes, this includes some of the very first ones ever made.Anyhoo... he just cleaned and cleaned on this truck and did the linseed oil on it. I don't think you could of found a whole coffee cup of dirt or rust or any mess on it when done. He dabbed some paint on the bolts on the heads on the engine, done the exhaust himself which was pipe he saved then cut and mig welded back together and then some mufflers off of a old car hide it all under the truck with two tail pipes that looked the same coming out the back. Once it was done.. it was may this year as he didn't have the strength of you Josh. He has never touched drugs or alcohol, never puffed on a cigarette yet he lost one lung and a kidney so has to be very careful. He called around to let people know it was going to be sold on a certain day and if your just coming to joke around, you will be escorted away... he is old and just doesn't have a sense of humor much anymore. Damn he was just meticulous as even the handles on the doors shined an the interior was so clean the air smelled good in it. But for real, it was bone stock except the tailpipes. People were standing there an he hollered out "Do I hear ten thousand dollars?" and before the words really cleared his mouth the bidding had hit twenty eight thousand... I thought wow, I guess thats the selling price. Well I guess that my guessing was way off as John started to say thank you all for coming an all the other crap... a guy in the back.... about a hundred people did show, says THIRTY THOUSAND real loud like his money will take it. The guy up front was first to come back and said forty thousand John... and then that guys wife said honey does it even run? so John starts it up and sounds the pipes a few times and then shut it off. As he stood up to finish what was being said, a older woman bid. She said that truck will come home with me today an her purse was full of hundred dollar bills. She says ya know real money talks an so she hollers fifty thousand dollars an John said right quick SOLD!!!!! That truck was not worth that kind of money but when rich people do collide.... the dollar bills start flying. It was on local news as well after words about a sale of the century
That’s awesome thank you
Gotta love a video with a great vintage truck and a real American family with farm animals that are part of the family 👍
Thank you I am blessed
Indeed you are 🇺🇸
What a wonderful family!! The little girl is a scrubber!!! Like many other people say the family activity is the BEST part of the videos!! All the children are smiling out of true happiness!! That old Ford has never had it so good!! It really is a NICE old Ford!!! I started out watching your show for the car part but now I watch for the family part!! Keep them coming!!!
Thank you so much
haha they had a horse in the back of it!? Old-timers have the best stories ever!
Yes that’s hilarious
If you did that today you would go to jail 😂
Another very satisfying to watch cleanup video. Those mirrors aren't off any particular vehicle. They were the cheapest modern looking mirrors you could get in the 80s.
Sounds about right
Love seeing your family working together on your Ole' F1.
Thank you
What a difference! hard to believe it's the same truck. Shows you what a lot of elbow grease and a few bucks worth of cleaning supplies (plus a goat) can do, Also really enjoyed the family dynamic. Working together, having fun, and all making a contribution. You are building priceless memories for your children that they will remember all their lives---plus instilling character and values by example. Love your comments on the Crocs... "It's that TV, isn't it?". God bless you all!
Yes 🙌
Cool advice about the nail and moms casings 😂😂😂
Also I think that you are a little envious on the crock’s because you can’t find a pair with a bottle opener 😂
Nice family time spent in your videos

Amazing transformation! So cool you’re working to help with getting this truck back on the road! The owner is going to be amazed.
I hope so thank you
That’s awesome! Glad to see squeezing. I think she does like the cleaning. Such a great family! Love it 🥰
Yeah she did good
I have almost the same 52 sitting in the driveway, except it has the V-8. My dad got it from a framer in 1954, been in the family since then. Painted it several times and used it as a service truck at the service station from 1854 until we closed it in 1976. Great truck! yours looks fantastic.
What a cool story
I absolutely LOVE this truck!!! I wish I had the capabilities for repair/restore that you have. Just wasn't in the cards for me. However I'm able to "live vicariously" through you and thanks so much for that! You certainly have a gem in this truck!! It's amazing what a difference you've made in just using some elbow grease!!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it
Got to see a lot of the kids in this one. I'll bet the wife is gonna want you to try to buy the pickup. It is beautiful.
Oh she would love to have if they would sell it
back in 84' I got a 50' chevy 5 window barn find and drove it for 2 years as a daily driver. It had the 216.5 inline 6. I drove a lot in the woods with it and it was like a tank. nice ford you found brother...
What a beautiful, wonderful family. To see the dad and children working together to make something better.God bless you and continue
I had a truck 🛻 just like that back in the late 70s. And I did the same thing. And used paneling for the headliner and door panels. Looked amazing back then. And still looks even more amazing seeing it on that beautiful looking truck. Things amazing looking. They will be amazed to see what not even how great its running but how amazing it looks. Great job to you all . And thanks for sharing.

From Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Thanks Mike
Y’all just transformed this truck it’s really sharp 👍.
On where the horse dented the roof you may can try a little old school PDR on it lay down on the seat and press on underside of the roof with your flip flops on your feet and gently press on it to push the dent out might be worth a try.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Y’all cleaning and shining up this F-1.
May Y’all have a Blessed One Sir.
Thank you
Put those kids to work! Love it! Congratulations on going full time on CZcams. I appreciate it!
Thank you
If that's dawn dish soap ,a small squeeze is all you need.awsome content with family .no video games
Yes for sure but we can’t stop with a small squeeze for some reason 🤣
I love the styling and color of this truck 👍💗

Try some high gloss floor polish on those old vehicles, once it dries it won't collect dust like the linseed oil. Also, it's made to be walked on so you know it's tough and I bet it would look good too. All it takes is some ammonia to wash it off if you need to remove it.
Ok good to know we might try it on a different one
You could almost hear the old girl go "AHHHH". You guys Rock.
Thank you
Now that's what I'm talking bout ..new white walls leave patina an drive it like u stole it love it ..more vids like this
Yes!!!
Ford first offered straight/“Styleside” beds in 1957 I think.
Ok thanks
