The highest evolved "thing" in nature is the human brain and the highest evolved sense is our visual system which connects to just about every part and subsystem in our brain. In cinema we actually immerse ourselves into the matrix and experience all of the emotions he talks about. Little wonder Descartes called it a theater of consciousness.
