John Lydon On Why New Disney Sex Pistols Series Isn't Accurate | This Morning

- Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon is known for being outspoken but now he’s turned on his former bandmates. He’s furious at the release of a Danny Boyle six-part biopic series about the band called Pistol, so much so, he’s taken his fellow punk rockers to court. He calls the biopic, based on founding member Steve Jones’ memoir, a “middle class fantasy” stating that “Disney have stolen the past and created a fairytale, which bears little resemblance to the truth”, John joins us on the sofa to explain why.

John is Gem! His honesty and bluntness are an attribution more people need to embrace. His use of the English language to articulate his opinions is excellent.
John Lydon is probably the most genuine person in music. My question though is why is that dopey interviewer holding a pen and a sheet of paper, is he taking notes for questions later.

I enjoyed the series but at the same time had some issues with it. John as ever is spot on.
I wondered as I watched it why they made him into golem from LOTR.
Anything Disney does is absolute garbage.

What a legend. I watched The Pistols drama. Taken as entertainment and not fact, its very enjoyable. Amazing acting. Fella playing Johnny was brilliant. Was complete fake that Steve Jones and Chrissie Hynde were lovers. They didn't know each other till well after that and weren't lovers when they did know each other. But still good TV.
Was it sort of accurate to any point or just good as something separate?
@@eilidhmcarthur377 I'm no expert on the Pistols but a lot of it was fiction. Like Steve Jones having a relationship with Chrissie Hynde. Her character was a big part of it but she didn't know them at all until after they'd broken up. It's still a good entertaining programme. Top class acting.

Dear Julie Marsden, I was wondering the exact same thing!! LOL The couch is huge but the comperes of the show are sitting on one tiny corner of it!! (I don't know their names because this is obviously a British TV show that we don't get here in Australia, although I do recognise the young man - wasn't he on The X Factor or one of those talent shows?? I love John Lydon and the way he looked after his lovely wife all through her battle with Alzheiimer's disease. He reminds me of my dad who looked after my mum when she got Alzheiimer's. In the end she had to go into a nursing home, but my dad went there everyday, even when mum no longer knew who he was. It's the most heartbreaking bloody awful disease ever, because you lose the person you love long before they actually die. 😢 Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne.

i bet not and according to more source sid wouldnt have been either i guess he actually wanted to leave her because he was seeing someone else i have her book its sold on amazon he didnt wanna be with nancy she was playing around behind sids back and kept him drugged to keep him so technically between his mom and nancy they ran that poor guy into the ground they all knew what they were doing

I OWNED THAT NOTE FROM SID THAT WAS USED IN THE MOVIE. SID WROTE IT IN MY NOTEBOOK AND I DISCOVERED IT IN MY NOTEBOOK ON THE TRAIN HOME TO BRIGHTON. IT WAS NEVER ION THE HANDS OF CHRISSIE HYNDE, I LATER SOLD IT AT BONHAMS WHEN MY FRIEND WAS DYING AND I NEEDED THE CASH TO GO AND SEE HIM IN SAN FRANCISCO. I BELIEVE THE HARDROCK CAFE BOUGHT IT. I WAS AROUND THE PISTOLS A BIT IN THOSE YEARS PISTOL. IS ENTERTAINING BUT DONT EXPECT RESEARCHED FACTS.

I get his position as far as not wanting to license his music to the project, but FFS it’s based on Jonesy’s book and Jonesy’s memoirs. I love Lydon, but he’s 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 so bleedin’ disagreeable.
I throughly enjoy listening to Johnny speak... almost as much as I enjoyed Slam Dancing to his music, back in the day.

From the (promotional) pic's of the band (i.e. the actors; i've not seen it) looked too me, far more like a Bay City Rollers like band, than the Pistols ever were, however fake they were (or might have been); no band had or has ever had that much influence, on music and fashion, not even, and not by miles, the Beatles, et-al. What was Danny Boyle thinking of FFS. Or have I got this all wrong?
