    Are you compensating for being off ice not on skates with stick length or you feel it won't make a big difference? Just get the fundamentals down. I'm teaching my son shooting,he is almost 7. I was able to do it as a player but find it harder to teach

    Super!
    The small window - 👍🏼
    Now, my right hand is in the necessary place!
    Буду контролировать теперь.
    But I didn’t catch what is the difference between staying on the left leg and on the right leg. I prefer to do it from the right one, being lefty 🤷🏻 😊

      @@lpb3731 get on the ice as much as possible. Go to a stick and puck and practice each shot against the boards in the neutral zone. Start slow and make sure you are doing all the mechanics correct at each step. Start going faster and add more power with each rep. Once you have the motions memorized do it while skating at the net. More reps the better and the priority is on proper mechanics.

      oh and press down on your edges as hard as you can to maintain balance and maximize power.

      @@knad7365 thanks man ! Yeah every second I can take at the beginning and end of training I shoot at the board, some teammates even laugh friendly about it aha.
      I won’t be able to for a long time unfortunately. I just learned I had to get ACL intervention, so no hockey for me for around 8 months. Kind of devastated right now…
      But to get back to shooting, I can’t quite get why there is such a difference between ground and ice. Maybe it’s because my feet are more easily planted on ground, and therefore you’re right I really need to press down on my edges. Even though I feel like I am already. Anyways, can’t wait to try it again and progress. Thanks for your help !

  • @TomShank
    @TomShank Před 2 měsíci +1

    I’ve practiced this for about 200 shots, I still don’t know how to generate power from the lower body with lunging forward. Any other tips or thoughts?

    • @robd4526
      @robd4526 Před 2 měsíci

      think of his step 2 (aka the WIND UP) as loading... maybe like holding an elastic band with 2 hands n then pulling back the back half of the elastic band (loading) ..... then when releasing the elastic band from the back hand you would get more force by ALSO propelling the front hand in a forward motion to get further power n distance .... hence hockey after LOADING the shot by pulling back n applying weight to the behind the puck ... upon releasing the shot where the stick goes forward PLUS the right foot (for a Lefty shooter) pushing forward as a natural forward momentum the rest of the body has ADDS power n distance much the elastic band.... of course if u are a right handed shooter (means playing with R hand lower on the stick for beginners) then it would the opposite foot that pushes foward upon releasing the wrist shoot exactly as he showed (almost instantly together with the shot. his demonstration couldn't have been better. watch n try your best to copy ... good luck

      Thank you for the explanation. Yes, I've got the positioning down and can get a good shot on, but don't think I get all the power out of my legs that I can. practice practice practice i guess. Thanks Rob!@@robd4526
