MC King What does “THAT” mean?
Dear foreigners, please don't give too big value for handwriting russian alphabet. Feel free to just write russian typographical letters by the hand (as many of us do). You'll not get big speed benefit if you try to use that video rules on practice. The only reason for this video could be only is to understand handwrote russian text of SOME russians who's individual handwriting style was't modified since school times.
It's the same way for English. With all the texting and keyboard technology, anyone under 40 barely remembers how to write in cursive.
Yeah, cursive is that writing style you had to learn in school, yet never use in practice except for writing your own signature.
Thank you sailor I was starting to freak out because Russian cursive looks very hard!
Isn’t a lot of Russian handwriting famously difficult to read though?
In French, handwriting is different from typographical writing
Here's a faster one, like we learned in 1980:
A be ve ge de ye yo
zhe ze i ye ka el em en
O pe er es te u ef
Ha ce che sha scha yer yeri yery
E you ya.
That's all folks!
İ feel lost
For scha you mean Щ? Here in my country I’ve been taught that it’s read as shche

Obviously Russian is not an easy language but I'm simply fascinated by Russian history & their language sounds beautiful. Difficult but definitely not impossible & worth learning 🇷🇺👍

Well i started 5 days ago with duolingo and videos because all of the world is just turned upside down. Man i feel like i have to learn russian however i am learning german in school and english. . . Russian/Chinese are just simple usefull ec german is useless. Every german speaks english so it is like only for that if you want to go to germany. Anyways good luck!

The only thing you forgot is to write letters with angle ~ 35degrees.

wait till you get to learn the Arabic writings, oh gosh, it's all the same !! After a while you get the hang of it but man at first it's like you're almost always writing words with the letter J all along :P The Arabic language is quite artistic in my opinion, almost every letter are round and/or looks like J, it's quite nice if it's not for the very hard to pronounce Kha or Gha which is pronounced more in the throat area, it sounds harsh, it doesn't sounds soft or nice or gentle, I don't know, anyways, don't mean to diminish the Arabic language in any ways, it is what it is, other sounds are easier and nicer to pronounce :P
Always accurate.
sobreaver You can't compare Arabic to Latin languages anyway, it has a different writing system depending on Farsi letters, which pronounced differently in Arabic. So the only equivalent of P is B sound in English, which is the letter ب in Arabic. While the sound Kh is a complete different letter ( خ) and exists as well in other languages, like Gaelic & German; for example: (ch) like: acht or eight in German , and the the sound gh (غ) as well is a complete different letter, which you can find commonly in French ( to replace the R sound), for example, rouge or red in French.

It's fascinating to me, the difference between the printed and written letters in Cyrillic alphabet..especially for a native English speaker such as myself. Thank you, great lesson, precisely what I was looking for, to have the right foundation to start learning Russian Language. Muito Obrigado
I don’t plan on learning Russian but this was so cool to watch because I’ve always been curious about how the alphabet is pronounced because it looks so different from latin alphabet and looks a little bit like greek, but its not really like either
Jess well, she still pronunces them either like in English, or with a strong accent :)
Sun Light, it’s Russian alphabet, which is based on Cyrillic script. Every language which uses Cyrillic has slightly different alphabets, like Macedonians have j and lack я, ы, etc., Ukrainians have ï and i, Serbians have a whole bunch of letters which I don’t have on my keyboard and thus cannot demonstrate (google it if you’re interested). And so on. And there are also quite a lot of non-Slavic languages that use Cyrillic and they tend to have some unique letters and lack some others, too.
Also Russian had Ѣ, І, Ѳ, Ѵ in alphabet until bolsheviks has come
@@Valeria-th4ql by that logic there's separate French alphabet, separate Spanish alphabet, etc. It's still all the Bulgarian alphabet with its different variations. It's not another alphabet of itself, it's a variation. Bulgarian alphabet has had many letters that stopped being used in certain regions, but were left in others and etc.
@@raynatumbeva780 even though its been 6 months I will still comment. The difference between a script and an alphabet is that the alphabet differs from each country. If you want to learn Romanian as an example, you have to know the Latin SCRIPT, and the Romanian ALPHABET.
But you know (with my bad English but I will try to explain), many people in Russia writes this alphabet in their own way, not only like in this video !!!!(there is the basic way to write it, that how we studied alphabet in a elementary school) and right now my own way is more "transformed" LOL and more special for each person that this. I love the sound of the sharpie 😩
The similarities between greek and russian arent accidental. Cyril and Methodius (I can't spell names) Moddeled the Cyrillic script after the Greek one when spreading Orthodox christianity to the slavs. There are Cyrillic versions of both Ξ and Ω, along with a few others.
Edit: See Borisslav's comment below.
Thanks for the background information!
Actually Cyril and Methodius had very little to do with the Cyrillic alphabet. What Cyril, possibly with the aid of his brother Methodius, created, was the Glagolitic alphabet. The Cyrillic was developed later on in the Preslav Literary School in the First Bulgarian Empire, as an easier way to write Old Church Slavonic (aka Old Bulgarian). It may have been developed by some of Cyril's students, including Climent of Ohrid.

I write in italics and block letters at the same time. It looks pretty nice. In some italic letters, I don't finish the squiggles. Every Russian has his own style of writing😉
I have friends who write exclusively in block letters, they just haven't learned, it's much more convenient for them to write separate block letters than with squiggles. They just can't retrain; it's like teaching a lefty to be right-handed! But this is not a problem if you write intelligibly and accurately. 👍🏿

There are a lot of videos like this that show individual letters. I'm looking for how the letters might change a bit when joined together. I've been reading that cursive is still much more common in Russia than in North America. I'm 43 so everytime I write something on paper, it's written, not printed.
