    Also, Nickel *totally* fits in with the DJD. I don't think she ever did any field work beyond being a medic with them, so it's entirely possible she never never knew how awful they got, nor heard the things said about them by other Decepticons. Her presence plays with the whole "banality of evil" concept really well.

      I agree with the banality of evil angle, when we see the DJD at their home they come across as tightly knit as the Autobot teams. If anything they are the dark opposite to the usual Autobot team who are usually the main focus in the various series entries, being tight-knit despite different personalities but all united unfailingly by a shared cause. Nickel is the dark heart of the team, she comes off as silly cause she is a rather deranged level of casual about the nature of her comrades' work.

    IDW (particularly MTMTE) is a masterpiece that 1) is unironically one of the best comics to have come out in the past decade, and 2) had no right to be as good as it was.

    • @maxmocs5008
      @maxmocs5008 Před 3 lety +2

      "had no right to be as good as it was" Why not? Everything IDW did could have been done before, IDW was just the first continuity to actually do it. Yeah, MTMTE focused itself on unknowns and unpopular characters, but what a lot of people don't realize is that those characters had a lot of personality that already was fleshed out in sourcebooks. It only took a caring writer to make great stories with them. Same thing with the situations. TF has always been straight Sy-Fy. There was potential in the TF universe for groups like the Scavengers, and Luna 2, it just took IDW to actually go thru with them. From the first issue, I could tell James Roberts was a caring writer, and that the stories would be an excellent, wild ride. I really don't understand why everyone was so shocked at how good the comics turned out to be.

Phase 1 wasn't good initially, but Phase 2 rectified and really developed the new continuity as an entity of its own. • @helloiwanttootakeoverthewo3217

    Summary
    Tarn is such a smooth talker he can kill people with his voice.
    Vos has drills inside of his face and doesn’t speak English but ancient cybertronian
    Kaon has electric ability’s and loves there pet named pet
    Tesarus has blades inside there chest
    Helex has a built in smelting chamber in his chest and has four arms
    Pet was the original vos but was forced and enslaved to be a pet
    Nickel is the medic and the wisest one

    Nice to watch a "basics on the DJD" that can talk about the third-party toys. :) I believe Helex turns into one of the "harvesters" that collected characters for the Smelting Pool in Marvel US, but Roberts complicated things by giving him his own wee internal Smelting Pool.
    I hope one day that we get Regeneration One-style continuations of Prime & Animated from IDW that can show us what the DJD would look like in those continuities

  • @MrPooPooJohn
    @MrPooPooJohn Před 3 lety +7

    My favorite has always been Vos (current sniper alt Vos not pet). His design, the mystery and mystique about him was always super interesting sinister and scary. His design is my favorite too. All of the DJD with the exception of Vos and Kaon, have a very clunky and misfit design to them. They are blocky and bulky and even smooth in so many random places. Vos and Kaon have the most humanoid look which is just more appealing to me. That might make them less original and even boring to some but whatevs. Their robot and alt modes also complement each other. Vos is slender, sleek and elongated like a sniper rifle. Kaon has those electric Tesla coil looking things and then turns into an electric chair. Both of them are literal (and recognizable) tools of death. I also hate that Tarn just turns into a tank.... Does not fit his character at all.

  • @MisaelCastilloBrenes
    @MisaelCastilloBrenes Před 3 lety +5

    Yeah, Tarn's voice thing was one of his "special powers" as an outlier, as Trailbreaker's force field. Also in one issue, Tarn confesses that his Mask helps him turn his sight to avoid seeing all the cruelty that he needs to perform (according to him). Vos reminds me to
    Karl Ruprecht Kroenen from Hellboy... Another interesting thing about Tarn is that at some point Grimlock punches Tarn in the face, and many issues later, Nickel tell's Grimlock that Tarn talked about him breaking his face (and there is another issue where you see him unmasked, talking to shockwave, and he literally had a crack in his face). Very fun and interesting topic! It's weird that I'm not a fan of the DJD, but I like all the story around them, and how they meet their end in the hands of "!!!!SPOILERS!!!!" . 😁😆

    • @HashbrownMashup
      @HashbrownMashup Před 3 lety

      God the canon rationale for Tarn's mask was one of the worst things in MTMTE. The whole point of Tarn is that he's a sadistic bully that pretends to be sophisticated in order to insulate himself from facing the consequences of his actions. His mask clearly ought to represent the fake facade of control, not that he has secret good guy feelings.

  • @brenoferreiraferreira4409

    I agree that Tarn listens to classic music but I never saw Nickel as a granny, quite the opposite, I saw her as very young and almost naive, like she was overprotected by the team to a point where she almost couldn't recognize what they where doing as evil and extreme. Besides, Nickel works as a contradiction, she is cute and sensible opposing the harshness and aggressiveness of the remaining DJD members.

  • @shockwave487
    @shockwave487 Před 2 lety +3

    Just to clarify, Tarn is an outlier. It's kinda the equivalent of a Mutant from Marvel, or a Metahuman from DC. In the case of Tarn, he has the ability to generate an EMP with his voice that can fall in line with the pulse of the listener's spark and coaxes the spark into giving out. Also the X on Tesarus' face is probably a reference to Judge Dredd.

      The edge is strong but it’s kind of the point. The MTMTE series recharacterises Megatron as a Stalin/Marx/Guevara type revolutionary who comes to believe his own hype. These guys serve as the literal embodiment and endgame of his goals and give him a representation his old self to overcome.

    I don't know about the in-universe reason but, stylistically, I always assumed Tesarus' X-face was an homage to the way Hasbro would gouge X's across the faces of prototypes so that they couldn't be sold.

    Just thought I would mention some things
    1 yes there have been many members of one codename except for Tarn as he was the only member to be part of the division since it's foundation
    2 we do know there real names which are: crucible the real name of Helex, scissor saw the real name of Teserus, Four stock the real name of Vos, Amp the real name of Kaon, and Damus or glitch the real name of Tarn
    3 Tarn doesn't ware that mask to show his fanaticism for the Decepticons he actually wares it for when he decides not to talk his victims to death so that when he lets the others have their way with the victim, no one noticed when Tarn closes his eyes
    Also just thought I would mention that Helex's favorite torture method is taking his victims own brain and putting it in their mouth
