    Great video! I am going to try this route before using the ball joint press

      Just make sure the a arm is warm enough and you should be able to stab it!

    If you heat lightly and then tap with wood block you get the same result. Just did mine. No fancy puller required

      Glad you had good luck, but there is no way mine would have came out like that. Ball joints are so tight to remove, but like I said, glad you had luck on your man!

    A dead blow hammer might also be a safe alternative ya know to protect the powder coating

      Did the new ball joint not come with a new snap ring?

    • @DanMX2112
      @DanMX2112  Před 3 lety +1

      I tried a dead blow on the other side but without the shock, never budged. And no, the new joint didn’t, idk why!

      Awesome video! I like the “do over” included cause it points out what not to do, best ball joint tutorial I’ve seen in a long time, guess I shouldnt be surprise “Teach” 👍

    Can you remove the ball joint up threw instead of down?

    Thanks! Been trying to figure out how to get that ball joint back in after replacing smashed A arm. How hot did you get the arms? Good excuse to use my thermometer gun.

    • @DanMX2112
      @DanMX2112  Před rokem

      Lol 😂 I feel ya man. Idk how hot but, about 200F should do it. You wanna be careful not to overheat and weaken the metal. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

      @@DanMX2112 hot & cold didn’t work, maybe because I used the same ball joint with new A arm. Managed to press it in with rental ball joint tool from Autozone and a 3/4” socket since the car fittings are too big.

      Way to improvise! Ya you always have to have a backup plan, so glad to hear you had success!

    i can’t get mine to seat fully i put the ball joint in the freezer for probably about 1hr 30min and i heated the sleeve up and it still won’t go in any advice

    • @DanMX2112
      @DanMX2112  Před 2 lety

      You’ll have to use a ball joint press to finish it.

    • @Cartercyr6609

      @@DanMX2112 what do you think could be causing this

    • @DanMX2112
      @DanMX2112  Před 2 lety

      It’s supposed to be tight and a press fit. It works most of the time to do the heat and freeze method, but sometimes it won’t seat all the way. Same with bearings and other items that are press fit.

      @Cartercyr6609 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DanMX2112 should i keep it in the freezer for a couple hours and the heat the sleeve and see if that works i don’t have a ball joint press so trying to avoid that method

      Ya, if you noticed in my video I had one get stuck, I just restarted and did it again, it’s worth a shot!

    Can you replace just the upper ball joint? My lower one seems fine, but I definitely have some play in the upper one.

    • @DanMX2112
      @DanMX2112  Před 2 lety

      Yes you sure can, and it’s also pressed in but much easier to remove. Remove the cir-clip holding the joint in and press it out. Easy as that, with the correct tools of course. Thanks for watching!!!!
