    Consider this a five-star review from a verified purchaser, the delighted owner of Eric’s poster child SKX007 mod.
    I loved my SKX when I put it in a box and sent it to Eric. Communication was excellent throughout a friction-free transaction, and in the end, I’m wearing the perfected edition. Changed the way I think about the watch and keeps way better time.
    If you love the face but tire of the shuffle and reset routine, Eric is your guy.

    Thanks for the video. I broke my skx013 a week ago when I tried regulating it and accidentally touching the hairspring. I was so discouraged I just left it in my drawer because I didn’t want to even look at it. I referenced this video and minitwatch’s video and I was able to upgrade the movement on my skx013 and now it’s working again! I couldn’t have done it without this video. You are awesome.

    Thanks very much for doing this video! You've given very thorough, detailed instructions to make the modification. This really struck home for me, as like you, non-hacking, non-hand winding for the SKX models has been a real issue I can't overlook. Of course anyone watching and nodding along can't help asking themselves why in the world Seiko hasn't done this themselves!

    • @LumeShot
      @LumeShot  Před 6 lety +3

      Glad it was of help! The 7s26 is for the most basic of watches in the seiko line up while the 4r36 is reserved for the next tier up watches unfortunately. The SKX seems to be considered a base level watch. Thanks for watching!

    Well done! You have a gift for concise explanation. Most broadcasters ramble on, get off topic, over explain simple details and generally produce long videos with little substance. You don't waste a word or an action. Very informative and most enjoyable to watch.

    Thanks again for this content! Is there a way to overcome the day wheel swap and the plastic movement holder swap if you do not have a 7s26 to swap parts with? Since crystal times and Namoki has after market skx style cases, there is not much of an incentive to buy a whole skx since the parts can be sourced individually. I’m curious how you have been overcoming this hurdle now for a ground up build. Does the alignment issues for the 4 o’ clock crown hold true if you are doing a build with both for the NH35 (date complication only) and NH36a (day date complication)?

    Well was following the instructions to the letter but when putting on the black housing I don't know what happened but the date for the day/date function has stopped working and the crown won't turn in that direction when pulled into the date changing position. So everything works but it is always the 9th. Just going to buy a new SKX. I only changed the movement because I dropped the watch after going through TSA, and it stopped working. Great video but @ReneBense may be on to something. Don't open your watch unless you know what your doing or this is your passion and understand that stuff happens and it may just break. It may be better to have a professional to handle it. Either what great video but it didn't go well for me lol.

    Of course to avoid exchanging the date wheel, you could just order an NH36 movement for "crown at 3.8 position" and be done with it. Also, the black ring fitting tighter than the gray ring must be due to factory tolerances and is not relevant, as the movement is anyway pressed between the chapter ring and the caseback lip, so don't worry about it if you're using an original SKX case or fully compatible one.

    Great video, you have a lot of technical skills and knowledge!
    Q. After the new stem is cut to correct length, would adding something like Loctite be a good idea before putting on the new crown? Also removing the c-clip, would fine tweezers put into the gap and then pulled carefully apart work in your opinion?

    • @LumeShot
      @LumeShot  Před 6 lety

      I have never encountered a crown coming loose but it is possible! Blue loctite works great!

    I remember going into a Seiko outlet store (lowest prices at the time) in the mid 2000's. I asked the employee why some watches cost more than others. I actually remember that the two watches were the SKX007 (entry level she said) and an orange Monster. She said the SKX didn't hack or wind. After explaining to me what that meant, I thought that I didn't want an SKX. And I thought the SKX was too expensive. Of course, 2 decades later I wish I had bought one. 😃😃😃

    Nice Video, why do you change the Daywheel? Is the NH36 Daywheel nod fit to Seiko Dail?

    is it normal when fitting the movement and dial in to the case that it fits well, but you can slide arround a bit like its not tight fit? just thinking if I did something wrong or because the stem is too long its like this but when you shorten the new stem/crown you cant move it..

    Great video, just subscribed! I was wondering If it would be easier to remove the canon pinion instead of the circlip to remove the day wheel.

    • @LumeShot
      @LumeShot  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for the support! The canon pinion is much more risky to remove. It MUST be perfectly straight up and undamaged in the slightest way. There are special tools just to remove the canon pinion. If given the choice, I would choose to remove the C clip every time.

    Hey, it’s Mitchell Sumpter. I just did this mod on an SKX. Used your past vids as a guide. Was a bit cumbersome but l did it! Biggest issue; placing the new hands. Pressing a new crystal is also not as easy as you make it look
