When the UK were members of the EU, Ireland had a bit of a free ride when it came to their defence. Now that the UK is no longer a member, they are having to play catch up which will take some time and a lot of money.
doc7490I mean, why would anyone join such a useless military anyway? Our only claim to fame is the Siege of Jadotville, and the people involved where never credited. Plus, our army today is not the same as the actual movements that fought for independence, like the ICA (dubbed "Europe's first Red Army" by Lenin), IRA, and the IRB.
Tanks are the weapon of an invading country and an obsolete one at that. We are a peaceful country thankfully and less spending on millitary equipment means more money for what's needed.
@@G.K92The only paramilitary left alive is the Real IRA and the INLA. Both do nothing except march and attack drug gangs. Plus, they technically aren't even operating within the Republic of Ireland. Maybe the paramilitaries of the Troubles like the Provisional IRA (armed with American guns like Armalites) and the Official IRA (armed with Libyan guns, bombs, and SAMs, as well as Soviet guns). There's no significant supply of trained fighting aged men or weapons anymore.
One thing we know is that powerful cannot be rated on equipment and numbers alone
its to show the military power, not economic power or anything like that

Our prime minister is not Michael d

Bigger better housing for unemployed foreigners
Ireland is a powerful country because it can get tanks by buying them and jets and helecopters and yh
yeaaaaa no, its still better to produce our own as the price tends to rise significantly during times of conflict
@@billkelly1022 Ireland does have resources though, maybe not iron and steel and coal and such, but we have gas and agriculture resources
not a single main battle tank and those 25 total aircraft are probably just civilian planes.
We don't need battle tanks, we're not imperialists.
We can scare any country away with our priests…
