Horse Panel Cage Trap How To

  • If you Wanted some cages that you'd have to run over with a truck to break them but don't have a ton of money, heres your solution ! With a basic welding skills its pretty easy to do. Unlike cattle panels which are 4x4 inch squares horse panel is 2x4 inch squares. So most animals would not be able to squeeze through. Though due to the strength of the panel one cannot simply bend it into a cage, it must be cut with bolt cutters into sections and then tack welded together. The panels usually come in 16'-20' long sections that run for $65-$75. so fare it seems you should be able to get a minimum of 2 cages per panel but it seems you can get up to 5 if you know what your doing

Well done. I built the same trap out of an old dog cage I bought from kijiji for $5. I have a raccoon problem and my store bought traps let more go than caught. This trap was the answer.

Hey Black Trapper. Thank you so much for posting this good build video! We've lost great 2 roosters, who were trying to do their jobs protecting the flock, and about 5 five hens over the last 6 months. Finally got a video of the predator, a large bobcat! We have a 6 ft fence around our entire property, then a 5 ft fence around the chicken yard. This cat is coming in the late afternoon (daylight---as that is when our chickens are out--our coops are predator proof) and there is no pattern of when the cat is coming in. I've waited many times with my shotgun hoping to see the cat. Now, with your video, I'm making my own traps (3) at the various locations this cat has come in. I can't wait to catch this cat! Again, thank you for your video!!!

Nice job, i've made a few of these traps and they work well, I do like my pan a little further in, my trail cams has showed a couple bobcat getting out before the door got low enough to block him in. They are super fast. I then put my pan a little more towards the back and have not had no more trouble. Love your videos, just subscribed

The most effective way to to dispose of grey squirrels IN MY YARD is the Havahart
model # 1083 EZ-set, 1 door trap. I don't have the time or energy to be making
    home made traps by hand.
I have used the Havahart EZ-set # 1083 to dispose of 360 grey squirrels since
June 2014. The 1-door EZ-set traps save me time in 3 different ways:
    1) They are much easier and faster to set than 2 door traps.
    2) they are also much easier to bait because you just put the bait behind the
trigger plate, instead of trying to balance the bait on top of the trigger plate.
I have had the 1030 go off in my hand while I was walking with it. Very annoying.
    3) I don't have any false alarms any more because the 1083 is NEVER set off
by small birds. It takes a 1 pound animal to set off the 1083 and almost all
grey squirrels weigh at least 1 pound. That is important if you are not home
to keep checking your traps. You will never catch a squirrel, if the trap is closed
for hours with a small bird inside.
I used to use a 1030 for grey squirrels but since I bought 2 of the EZ set traps
I stopped using the older model trap. Every squirrel that I dispose of is 1 less squirrel
that will ravage my garden of tomatoes and my bird feeders. I take them all
to the exact same spot in the nearby woods and allow scavengers like possums
    to have the carcass. Win-Win
Possums are unfairly maligned by many people simply because of the way they look
Home Depot and Lowes do not stock the 1083 but I was able to get them
online for about $35 via Amazon

Another question for you sir. Have you any experience with a stick welder? I am a novice when it comes to welding, and have a little stick welder. The problem I'm having is that I'm burning the wire mesh even with 1/16th size rod on low amp. I'm using pretty heavy duty mesh like you are using here.

what you may not know is that your cage is galvanized and when you weld it burns the galvanize and it forms a piosion that you breath in and it can be deadly!!!!!!!!!~~~

trapper== I don't understand why the trigger is tripped by stepping on, the animal is going after the bait , so make it trip when they try to get the bait.my
design is to me the best that's made. an animal will always pull the bait to him.so my design is when they grab the bait you've got him

    • @TheBlackTrapper
      @TheBlackTrapper  Před 2 lety

Intresting question. Understand this, not all animals are hard charging completely in to get the bait . Run a trail camera and you'll see you have many animals go in on part way and for some reason or another simply won't go after the bait.and back out Possibly they changed their mind possibly something spooked them possibly they just decided a pice of meat they sitting there dosent seem quite right. If your bait is the trigger your relaying on that bite and pull sequence to make that catch. Many animals arnt starving and need to eat everything to the point they will not turn down a free meal if it's something they don't like. With a foot tredel before my bait I just need him to come in 12-3/4 of the way in. Just need him to be curious enough to investigate. If their hard charging to get the bait their stepping on that pan if their just sniffing their stepping on the pan. Heck you can just ball up some grass with some feathers and toss it in the back to make it look like another animals kill. Their not going to try and take it after they realize what it really is but by the time their close enough in that trap to investigate, theirs paws on or over that pan.
