  • I found the best price on the squirrelinator here - amzn.to/2sguO1A
    My wife got me the squirrelinator for Father's day and I am sure glad she did. I have never caught this many squirrels this easily. I have tons of young squirrels running around eating my chicken feed and baby plants and wreaking havoc. I really wanted to find out, "Does the Squirrelinator work?" It turns out it definitely does and it is less dangerous for my small animals and child than the other spring traps I was using. I just wish I had gotten one sooner. My chickens even have left over feed in the morning now:)
    My wife bought my squirrelinator here because it was the best price we could find- amzn.to/2sguO1A I am not a doctor. I am not licensed. I have 2 1/2 acres with over 50 fruit trees all different to add to the problem I have 30 acres of open land around me so the squirrels was getting all of the fruit . I spent a lot of money an air rifles , traps and bait and continued to loose ground and I was buying smoke bomb at Tractor Supply when a salesman told me about the Squirrelinator so I bought it and 5 LB. of cracked corn and finally their is happiness in the orchard it caught 67 squirrels in 3 weeks , sometimes multiple catches at once.

      I wish I had 50 fruit trees but the couple I have had get raided by the rodents and birds constantly. It has kept me from being motivated to grow more. Here in the desert, everything is working against you because the stuff you grow is so much more appealing food than the rest of the desert brush:/

      I'm in Fresno County that is almost desert you have to run drip irrigation and the squirrels eat it so that is a challenge to keep them watered plus eating the buds before they can produce. And I was able to solve all of thes problems with one trap and a 5lb bag of cracked corn, I forgot I got 2 more yesterday i just move it every couple days.

      Can the squirrels eat pvc if you run droppers from that? I have problems around here with the rabbits and squirrels eating drip line too.

      I have my main line on each row about 4 ft high on vineyard wire and when they eat enough holes in it I pull a new line in, they have eaten through 1 inch electrical conduit under ground and shorted my power out I'm lucky I have a Bobcat because at my age I would never be able to dig it out to repair it.

    The solid metal plates by the lift handles are there so when you reach for and grab the handle while it's down, you don't get bit in the fingers by a squirrel. They can be very nasty when trapped, like most animals. So, the plates are finger savers.

    Got a Squirrelinator a week ago but it works so well that I had to modify it. It attracts and traps squirrels quickly and consistently. But what I found over and over is that, unlike in these videos, a second squirrel _will not_ enter the trap while there is one inside it struggling to get out.
    So, what we did was, we cut out a 3" hole in the bottom (just have to snip a few of the cage wires), and attached a 3" PVC toilet flange and 3" pipe out the bottom, connected to a bucket full of water. What happens is that the squirrels try for 15 minutes or so to get out, then they get more and more interested in risking ducking into the pipe. Once they're in there, they slide right down into the bucket and drown.
    If you don't wish to kill them (in our state, that's your only option -- you cannot transport and release them(, you could simply use a larger cage at the end of the tube. But in any case, you really need to get them moved out of the Squirrelinator before you can expect to attract any others. It seems that when they see their colleague struggling they know to avoid the Squirrelinator.

    This is without a doubt the BEST trap I have ever had!!! Come to think if it this is the only trap I've had...oh well. I LOVE this thing....squirrels were eating my plants, chewing on rain gutters, destroying my patio furniture cushions, chewing through my watering system, etc. etc. I thought I had a couple of squirrels that were a problem, but oh no...I've caught 14 and #15 is coming around and I'll have him soon enough. I've lived in this location 22 years and never had a problem with squirrels. They have been destructive varmits for a year, well that is over! I'm the Terminator and I love it! I'm not surprised the terrier didn't catch any squirrels. Not only are squirrels rather difficult for most dogs to catch, but that terrier has VERY LITTLE prey drive. It's clearly not from working lines, because his interest in those trapped squirrels is VERY mild. I'm glad the trap is working for you though! :-)

    • @WNM1228

      @JosephCartertheMinkMan Před 6 lety +6

      Yes exactly. A working bred terrier and a show or pet bred terrier are night and day different. But ignorant pet and show people will swear up and down that their useless dogs who haven't been tested or bred for ANYTHING useful, are some how equal to dogs who have been carefully tested and bred for hunting qualities. The idea is ridiculous and defies all reason!

      The only problem is that the squirrels that get in there eat all the bait so I have to dispatch them and reload. Also, if you bait it overnight the mice will eat all the bait and then just leave because they fit in between the wires. I am thinking about making a rodent proof bait can so I can load it with peanuts and the bait sticks around longer. I will make a video if it works.

After numerous live trappings and releases I realized that I was seeing the same squirrels returning to the property. Their ability to find their way home is remarkable. Best thing I found for baiting squirrels of any kind and even chipmunks is peanut butter.
    For my live catch traps I use a small pill bottle with , filled to the top with peanut butter. Poke a bunch of holes in the bottle so some peanut butter can ooze out. I wire the pill bottle with a small piece of wire and hang it behind the trip plate of my trap. I found this works better to trip the trap because they cannot just take the bait and run but have to work at it.
    Also found the best way to humanely kill live trapped squirrels. You will realise pretty quick it's impossible to shoot then while they are in the cage.
    I'd definitely check your local laws before attempting it, but where I am located it's perfectly legal to gas them with carbon monoxide.
    Just throw the whole trap in a plastic tote that has a hole in the side. Plumb in a hose off a vacuum cleaner from your cars tail pipe to the tote, and let it idle for about a minute or two.
    Much less traumatic for the squirrels. Where i live It is actually illegal to release squirrels after your trap them.

    • @KetoKevin
      @KetoKevin  Před 6 lety

      I have always put a rock on it so I haven’t had that problem. I didn’t know they could move it. The only time my cage moved is when the neighbors dogs were trying to get into a trapped squirrel. You could drive a stick into the ground to hold it I guess. Of course your wonder squirrels may just pull the stick out.

    Yes it w0rks quite well on California Ground Squirrels. My father would catch them and thendrive them to a distant location for release. I imagine if you kill them in the trap other squirrels will smell the death and stay away. The trap was used until two different Skunks were trapped. A professional had to come out at $250 a pop to take the skunks away

    • @udavidism
      @udavidism Před rokem

      If you catch a skunk first put on some old clothes you don't care about, just in case. Then approach the trap holding a plastic tarp or heavy plastic sheet in from of you and gently cover the trap. Place the trap in the back of a pickup truck and haul him away. Carefully uncover just enough of the trap to open the door and get out of the way. Skunks don't want to spray unless they have to but inside a trap will be stressful. I have released skunks several times without them spraying.

    Hi there...
    I have been successful with the use of this item. My question for anyone who also has one, is.... have the clips on the little entry doors become loose for you? Mine have.. I have tried to pinch them a little tighter with pliers...helps... but only for a very very short time. Any suggestions on how to keep them from coming loose or maybe something to add to it so that the doors will keep some degree of tension on them...and prevent the little rat bastards from squeezing back under and escaping? I have had a number of times where all bait is gone (even in far inside) and the trap is empty . And no, they didn't go under...no sign of digging + I put a brick on top to discourage any lifting of the trap.
    Any and all help appreciated !!! Thank you
