Arguably the best down the line forehand in tennis history. The way he can banana it back in or just redirect immense power really is something special to behold!

As Robbie koenig always says, Nadals down the line forehand is a great barometer of his confidence. When he plays that shot in a match, the opponent should always be ready for a hard time

I think it IS the greatest DTL forehand
      Greatest...
      Running DTL forehand: Rafa
Inside out forehand: Fed (with the old racket, not the current one)
      Running crosscourt: Sampras

Nadal got to the Wimbledon final 5 times in a row - 06, 07, 08, (didn’t play 09), 10, 11 - before injuries and workload meant he prioritised FO and would often be physically unable to compete at Wimbledon, which used to be 2 weeks after FO, rather than 3. He is a brilliant grass court player and would have more success on it if it came at a different point in the calendar. He needs match practice and doesn’t have the time/body after FO to do it.

    • @alexfrye6

I can't help but think that his pattern of normally playing no warm ups hurt him from 2012-2017. Had a lot of bad losses to much lower ranked players in that time.

I would have reduced atp masters tournament to 8 and increase one more week for Wimbledon between French open.
Transition from 1 surface to another in 2 weeks is not good for legs at all
21 days are needed between French open and Wimbledon. I think Federer retired from tennis sport is due to Wimbledon and French open mostly in 2019 which effected Federer in 2020
Grass is slow down but still it is faster then clay courts and have low bounces which comes to knee cap which doesn't favor Rafael Nadal playing style

Buongiorno
