- Hey, this is a video aimed at newer players who want to learn more about the history of Geometry Dash and its classic levels. I tried to give this video a 2.0/early 2.1 vibe for added nostalgia.
Sorry about having to replace some songs because of copyright. If I make another video like this again, I will try and include non copyrighted levels to make viewing easier.

The fact that 2.1 has basically been split into two eras and early 2.1 is considered nostalgic because of how long 2.2 is taking is wild

And it’s funny cuz you can technically be considered OG if you started early 2.1. I started late 2.0 and 1.9 I consider the beginning cuz I feel like it got popular in that time frame. 1.8 and before I don’t think anyone cares about. As viprin says: “1.9 is revolution!”

Important note about Falling Up:
The community discovered Hinkik as a song artist as a result of this level.
Explorers would not be an upcoming level in 2.2 without this level.

Idk though, it could be Robtop already planned DL before 1.9, hence we can't use it for custom levels during 1.9

btw as an OG player this feels really nostalgic, especially Death Moon and A Bizarre Phantasm, a part 2 in the future would be great :D
@@AYO_TFSideswipe it was 7 years ago, but Death Moon and TUP were indeed made in 1.9. Maybe I would have put more levels of 1.9
@@AYO_TFSideswipe 2.0 is 2016, and the game got released in 2013, with 2015 being steam release, which is the main platform for all players who play it on a high level. from 1.9-to date is like 90% of the game's history. I'd say you are an OG if you joined when BB was still top 1.

The good times when the tops 1 where good levels like Future Demoness and A Bizzare Phantasam. The new tops 1 are generic and total BS. I would like to return to those good days.

I started playing this game in late May 2014 as 7th grade was ending and I agree these levels are really iconic. I used to love playing the ABP 40% wave over and over again bc it was so satisfying, watching sea1997 and his rap battles, and writing paragraph comments defending Noctafly before he was exposed for hacking Death Corridor. u know, the good old days lol

THIS IS NOSTALGIC AF, I remember being around 1.9 days at the moment, y'all don't know, 2.0 release was like 2.2 at the day (and then 2.1 was like 2.2 today). This bring me so many memories. Watching Guitar gameplays cuz i speak Spanish as my main language (advyout btw this was like before anything happened). God i remember when falling out released and everyone was playing it. A Bizarre Phantasm being considered like top 1 for many people. Good times :")
Please make part 2! Add levels like SuperSonic, Nine Circles (even tho this may still be pretty popular) Lonely travel, etc.

Huge nostalgia trip seeing these levels in a list like this again. Truly different times. I think you should make a video about forgotten top/influential players like BlassCBF, Satcho, Skullo, Woogi, Airswipe, etc

Death moon was never considered that hard. I beat it almost the day it came out and took only 200 attempts. And I beat it on Bluestacks which is a lot worse than Steam 60fps
Maybe you confused it with Decode which was considered insanely hard at the beginning of 1.9 and pretty hard even later.

I'd give an honorable mention to The Hell Factory. It's basically the inspiration for Yatagarasu and was also made by members of TeamN2. It used to be considered impossible back in early-mid 1.9 until Powerbomb verified it around late 1.9 or early 2.0 I forgot.
Note that some, if not, almost all creators of THF also made a part in Yatagarasu.
Very nice 5 legit completions! Gotta love how 2 of these levels are only possible on 60hz

Same here man. I just started to beat demons recently and I personally love the old 1.9 demons like Death Moon. I beat it as my hardest last year and it was really fun. Took a while tho cause I was on 60hz.

I remember dying at the end of death moon and hating the level so much. I basically beat it but held for too long after the wave and the cube jumped. Later I found out how special the level was

back when there was no one was trying to get top 1 and make it super impossible and when extreme demons were not that common. these extreme demon levels rarely came out which made them so unique and amazing. (at least in my opinion) and not everyone was trying to get top 1. we always see previews of extreme levels every so often now, but before it was so rare and when it did happen. you knew it was going to make history. glad I experienced that era.
truth! there are just so many more players now, It almost feels like a competitive game even though its singleplayer. Its not the same community at all

I actually found a Death Moon remake before that was actually good, not only good but it did improve on the original decoration while making some gameplay parts more fitting for the song, I forgot who made it but it was the best remake I've ever seen for Death Moon

ABP is more like (or was considered at least) a wave challenge demon, than a memory demon. Most of the memory parts aren't as hard as the timings in it, and the wave were very unique back then and somewhat hard since there's a lot of gravity changes and invisible portals (last wave is in reversed aswell) --> it's a very good level to get better at this gamemode btw
The second drop of Falling Up (rainy part specifically) is probably my favorite part of any GD level

Although Death Moon was never my hardest, to me it felt very annoying due to slope hitbox bugs and other things like the short mini ufo part before the slow wave. The only thing I knew about this level was that it was made by Funnygame. I never thought anything more. Thanks for letting me know.
neat video, and a good selection of levels that gd players should indeed be familiar with! however what’s said at 8:07 is not true at all. it’s pretty much unanimously agreed upon that cataclysm was the level to set the trend and inspire many hell-themed levels to come. sparking levels such as bloodbath, aftermath sakupen hell and many more. death moon had little to no part in that. also, death moon was never really considered to be that challenging. it was released near the end of the 1.9 era and the wave sections were pretty trivial stuff even when compared to wave parts in other demons at the time, difficulty-wise.
anyways, here’s some suggestions for other levels to show off if you’re ever making a follow-up video’s on this :) - cataclysm, bloodbath, sakupen hell, ice carbon diablo x, yatagarasu, 8o, windy landscape, supersonic, ultrasonic, sonic wave, nine circles, motion, x, demon park, -sirius-, lonely travel, reanimation, acropolis, black blizzard, forest temple (or any of michi’s other temple levels), mastergame, artificial ascent, unity, funnygame holiday, lucid dream, illusion

These levels are legendary, those bring me back to 2015, the time I started to play and watch GD videos on CZcams, I remember that time Damn, the game released in 2013 and now is 2023, wow so fast we passed 10 years of this LEGENDARY game. I remembered the old style of map creating and other things of GD in the past are still the BEST. Although the newest version is 2.2, but I only like the GD from 2.1 and below.
I remember The Ultimate Phase being my favorite level a few years ago, it's still my favorite 1.9 level to this day

6:19 The level wasn't originally hacked, It used an exploit from the 1.2 update, so technically It is not a hack.
The term hacking is used a bit weirdly in the gd community, as it can mean any kind of illegitimate completion, so yes it was still "hacked".

Dude, the 3 firsts are some of my favorite extremes, absolute old but gold. The hell zone is classic and iconic, but sucks so bad. And Death Moon is one of the best levels ever.
2015 the year when i started in late 1.9 and later 2.0 came out in late 2015, 2016 one of the best years with the 2.0 and finally 2017 with 2.1 until now, i feel so old in this game almost 8 years of my life being here

You also gotta remember that Death Moon got an update, but then someone hacked the account and reverted the changes
Maybe, if you make a second part. You can add a demon of each difficulty. 1 Easy Demon, 1 Medium Demon, 1 Hard Demon, 1 Insane Demon and 1 Extreme Demon.
