It's funny how 2013's hardest was a 1.2 level, 2014's was a 1.6 (iirc), 2015's was a 1.9, 2016's was a 2.0, AND THE REST IS 2.1

I feel like 2015-16 was like the peak of Geometry Dash. I've been playing on and off, since the game came out, and still the thing that I can remember the most was the fierce arguments between those who thought Bloodbath was the hardest level, and those who thought Sonic Wave was the hardest. You truly just had to be there.

It feels strange to say that levels like ICDX and Silent Clubstep released just 1 year after the game's release. 1.0 to 1.6 feels like an eternity, but in reality it's just a fragment of the game's existence.
This video reminded me much of my perception of time and mostly my childhood and how long it felt compared to how long it actually was. Strange, very strange
Honestly, even though there are extreme demons way harder than bloodbath right now, I still feel like bloodbath holds the title for THE Extreme Demon.

If you think of an extreme demon, you will always first think of Bloodbath. Then maybe Cataclysm, Slaughterhouse, Arcturus, Sonic wave, Zodiac, Tidal wave, Acheron or Bloodlust

Levels like Plasma Pulse Finale and Zodiac are amazing Top 1's because instead of using hell themed they use unique rainbow style, Tidal Wave is also a good Top 1 because of its unique style
As someone in the GD community since the birth of the game, my opinion is that BloodLust and Slaughterhouse are the two most absurd creations by people of all time. BloodLust was initially my fav level of all time(my username was once NX Blood Lust named after the level), however seeing Slaughterhouse for the first time ever in this video, it has made me come to the realization that it is now my time to retire from the community. That level is absolutely inhumane and it takes only the top players in the world to achieve something like beating that level. Completely and utterly imperial.
have you seen aftercatabath? well its not a demon because its a mix of 3 extreme demons, none made by aftercatabath's creator so it doesnt deserve a demon. But it's difficulty is extreme demon.

Fun fact: It’s a common misconception that BP Night got deleted and is now only playable via reuploads. But this is not true, as the original level never got deleted and is still up on the GD servers to this day, with the ID 72558. Even the secret way is still there…

I'm a 1.8-1.9 era player (quit sometime around the release of 2.0 like 10 years ago) and the complexity and difficulty of today's demon levels are otherwordly, GD has come a long way, the demons I used to play can't hold a candle
Now as we have entered 2024, I can proudly say that a beast of a level called tidal wave is the hardest level of 2023 and has taken the throne of the hardest level to beat.. mad respect to a guy called Zoink who has verified it, U are truly a god.❤

Interesting how the difficulty gap between each consecutive top 1 slowly decreases over time, with Acheron and Slaughterhouse being so close together difficulty wise, which I see as a sign that the difficulty ceiling is going to be reached soon

@@Ceereeal it’s also important to note that space beat Acheron in less attempts than it took to beat slaughterhouse. He got better but the difference in difficulty still isn’t that large
This may seem true at first but you can also see that from 2020 and onward level suddenly got a lot shorter + as "KarmaL" said before people also take less attempts to verify these probably because of the fact that top 1s got shorter.

Geo Dash had so much experience. EricVanWilderman completed Bloodbath and Bloodlust, but way before that he started a quest to complete 9 demons called "Nine Circles" and for his 9th demon to be "Sonic Wave". And he did it, just years later. And then he did Bloodbath and Cataclysm... but years later... Anyways this video was exciting.

[Opinion] The biggest difficulty gap has got to be 2013-2014. You cannot, CAN NOT compare that, let me explain: you might be wondering what about the bloodlust verification, what a monumental event for GD right? Well, popularity-wise. Hmm, or the Tartarus verification, or even Slaughterhouse. Well, these are famous but did not necessarily INCREASE the skill gap. I'm just saying this because that transition is utmost an underdog and not to mention that, back then it was harder for players to demolish/break down a level not BEAT, and today some skilled players utilize FPS Bypass, sunix led this major impact. So if you're going to talk about there is more to come for harder levels, it'll never be as hard as back then. If we never had that advantage we would have been three years behind (A.K.A. Tartarus, The Golden, Zodiac era).
If you count rated at some point levels, element 111 rg had the biggest jump, if you look at the demonlist video this one person made, the list goes like this: 1. Element 111 Rg 2. Silent club 3. ICDX 4. Deadly ClubStep. Element 111 rg is top 5 nowadays while BP night is 7 stars (imo)

Heads up, this is a REALLY long story
It’s an old level by someone named DarkX meant to be part of a collaborative series of levels titled the chemical elements. It was infamous for being way harder than the other levels, I think It would at least be a top 30 today. It got rated even though it was obviously not verified legitimately. It only took 1 day for people to find out there was a secret way 4% into level cleverly hidden with corner spike jump. To address all the complaints DarkX nerfed the level but it was still too difficult for anyone to complete it legitimately. The secret way then got patched out by Robtop himeslef but DarkX added another one. DarkX eventually got kicked from the elements series and the level got deleted by either him or Robtop. What makes the level popular today is that we don’t know what it looks like. The level was deleted before the ability to copy levels added, and the level was too difficult for almost anyone to beat in practice mode, and there are almost no recordings of the level on CZcams. DarkX disappeared after the level got unrated. With some preservations efforts people have tried to recreate the level from memories and screenshots we have. We may never know what the level truly looks like, and I believe there’s only one known victor of the level in practice mode.

I remember when Sonic Wave first came out. Me and a friend used to get into arguments over if Sonic Wave was more difficult than Bloodbath. Keep in mind at the time Sonic Wave still wasn’t verified yet and many believed it was impossible. Man used to use that saying it’s like comparing apples to oranges.
He still believes Bloodbath is the most difficult to this day.
I feel as if Eternal Night is also another good contender for being this year's Top 1. The verifier is on pause rn (Cursed), but the level is in fact finished, just not much progress has been made on it recently. Hopefully Cursed pulls through and verifies it this year.
That level is ages harder than even lets just say, most upcoming top 1s. The level is also not finished, it is going through a redeco i think

it’s interesting to see how there seems to be a much larger number of often unnecessary upcoming top 1s relative to the past, yet by looking at this video, one might assume that the frequency of top 1s are decreasing, when really, there are just more and more top 1s simply missing the mark
like there were a number of top 1s between bloodbath and sonic wave or sonic wave and plasma pulse finale, but ever since 2017, but more importantly 2020, there really weren’t any top 1s between each consecutive top 1 of the year (except for firework which lasted for 8 seconds)
Zodiac is such an underrated level, great music choice and its just so cool
It was how I discovered one of my favorite music creators, Creo and the song used, Creo - Sphere is still one of my favorite songs to this day

Acheron and tartarus are one of those levels where they look overrated for a top 1 until you look closer/actually play it (probably because alot of obstacles aren't super clear)

honestly crazy too me that back in 2015-18 as a pre teen was when i was able too beat a few levels listed(obviously took millions of tries) now as an adult i hardly believe i could function on the first 20% of any of these levels

It's crazy to me that out of all levels that were speculated to be harder than Slaughterhouse (i.e. Silent Clubstep, Abyss of Darkness, etc,...), Acheron was the most underrated of the bunch yet it was the one to truly dethrone Slaughterhouse once and for all

Geo Dash had so much experience. EricVanWilderman completed Bloodbath and Bloodlust, but way before that he started a quest to complete 9 demons called "Nine Circles" and for his 9th demon to be "Sonic Wave" (2016). And he did it, just years later. And then he did Bloodbath and Cataclysm... but years later... (2020) Anyways this video was exciting.

The hardest level of 2014 ever was Element 111 Rg, a level that would still have been top 1 to this day (it was rated so technically it was top 1)
I love the idea that Grief is going to be the top 1 at the end of 2023, but I'm also hoping for something like Ascension to Heaven or Misanthrope being finished and verified.

Longest was Zodiac at 3minutes 15 seconds, Shortest was Acheron at 1minute 7 seconds. Zodiac is as long as three acherons almost which goes to show that there is a new difficulty and one day this new difficulty will evolve to be in a 2 minute level.

Technically the shortest top 1 was sakupen circles since it was placed at 1 but them moved down below slaughterhouse, since sakupen circles is 40-50 seconds long and fits in a youtube short
