    You can flip the front crash bars from right to left and left to right and give the the clearance you need. Have to remove front bumper which is four bolts. Cut the two bolts on each side of the crash bar and replace with new ones. Have 315/70/17 on my 2017 F-150, no level kit just stock height and no rubbing at all.

      The only purpose that crash bar has is to make it so the F-150 can barely pass the IIHS's offset crash test. Yea it 'might' save your tie rods and wheels from a 15MPH offset crash but in a serious crash that metal piece would serve no extra protection.

    1) Cut the bottom protruding part of the bolts off first. That will buy you a little wiggle room.
    2) @ 5:53 - Unscrew the bolts up all the way.
    3) Leave the 15mm wrench on the bolts (so that they don't spin) and get a mini angle grinder in there and cut the bolts off flush with the frame.
    4) Slide off the crash bars. It'll take some finesse.

    Remember most vehicles and their smaller assemblies are built in modules for easy of assembly at the manufacture. So all of them tend to be a huge pain in the ass to disassemble, especially if you don't have a shop with a massive tool assortment. Some you have to damage like my '12 F150s headlights I had to drill a hole in the back to remove a screw that held in the inner trim to prevent breaking it when separating the lens from the rest of the assembly. As a added bonus they use a pain in the ass sealant.

  • @leadpilled5567
    @leadpilled5567 Před 2 lety

    You can run a 33X11.5 on stock wheels and a 2in level with no trimming. You can run a 33.5X12 with around a 25 offset. Is cutting your truck up really worth it for 1 in in height and 1/2 in width. I’m running 295/70/17 on an 17X8 with a +24 offset. I have just a slight poke no problem with stones ripping up my truck not even close to rubbing during full articulate and at full lock. Everyone is saying about cutting the crash bars and accidents. It doesn’t even need to be a serious accident. The stock bumper (not much to it) can be pushed back into the tire and tear up the suspension with a low spend crash. Could be the difference between your truck being fixed or totaled.

  • @buffalobmf
    @buffalobmf Před 3 lety

    The bolts are installed that way to stop people from doing what youre doing. Remving/modifying the crash bars drops the trucks safety rating. In cases i seen insurance companies not covering newer f150s after noticing messed with crash bars after an accident happened. And they 100% do come in all cabs if the truck sense 2016. The crash tests without the crash bars were horrific to passengers legs. removing that crash bar is a reason why the aluminum versions of the f150s have the crash rating they have. They have nothing to with stoping the bumper hitting the tires 😂

    • @peruser155
      @peruser155 Před 3 lety

      I find it hard to believe that a 1.5 inch piece of metal tubing makes a difference in a 6,000 pound vehicle during a collision. What are those things made of!?!? Lol. Seriously, if being more crash worthy in the unlikely event of an offset frontal collision is everyone's beef here, why don't you all install those massive wraparound RanchHand grill guards to your vehicles? They are built of the same guage metal tubing, and, based on your reasoning, double or triple the crash-worthiness of your vehicle! You can buy them anywhere! Take it from a crash investigator, when it comes to the forces involved in several-ton vehicles crashes, the effectiveness of these little bars is minimal. Crumple zones in the main frame and airbags decide your fate, not a 1.5 inch piece of square tubing.

    • @JJBanuelos

      Bolts weren’t the issues it’s the bars. They hit the body of the truck even when bolts are removed & the front one shut the bumper so it would have to come off as well.
