  • In this video we do a deep dive review of our TC Customs 2021 Ford F150 with a 6" Fabtech lift and 35" Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. Sam has been driving this truck for over a month and has over 1000 miles of seat time. He goes over everything he loves and hates about driving a lifted truck. We truly appreciate Mitchell Watts and TC Customs giving us this opportunity. Links to all of the parts and to the Town and Country TV CZcams channel are below.

I say that is a pretty solid assessment. I had a 6" lift on my '17, then went to a 4" on my '18 and I think on my '22 I'll be doing a drop. Sliding your heavy butt over the seat will also wear out that leather pretty quick too. Something you didn't mention is the hit to the fuel economy with the lift and bigger tires, added weight and reduced capacity. If you actually use your bed then you really don't want any lift.

  • @roysteele396
    @roysteele396 Před 2 lety +5

If you REALLY want to lift, a 4” BDS lift, new coil overs and new rear struts with 35s is a great way to go. Fits in car washes, parking garages, regular garages, etc. And I can’t speak about the ride quality of other brands but BDS suspension is great in terms of ride quality and quality build in general.
But yes, cool over leveling kit and 33s just seem right to me.. even a reverse level (removing rear block) and lightweight 305/50r20 with lightweight wheels is great! Still get all the power of stock, a great look, while maintaining VERY GOOD mpgs

Found the best use (besides the approach/ departure, higher center, higher axel height - wheel+tire) for lifted rigs to utilize them is loading/ unloading from the semi trailer loading platforms. When the tailgate is flush with that, warehouse forklifts can load your stuff extremely easy. Need to unload to a “raised” first story home or cabin, you already have the height for hand off - anything else just work with car ramps and a wheel chock or a taller hand truck or put a tall board to load/ slide your gravel/ mulch/ concrete/ rock/ soil (whatever).
What is nice is not bending over to pick up from the tailgate, 40lbs bags of salt for the pool/ well (water softener) you’re upright taking the weight. Tires turn slower = tend to last longer watching your speed (64 is the sweet spot), most mud tires tend to destroy themselves over 75+mph.

My 2019 F150 XLT has a 6” lift and sits on 35” Open Country RT’s. I use the handle every time I get in and out of the truck. Never the steering wheel. Would love to get the Amp Research step, but I beat my running board up each time I kick boots onto’em. Overall, love the truck and ride…being able to see the rust on other people’s roofs is quite nice. Lol. I’m also 6’0” tall…so the lift fits very well with my frame…truck bed step from Amp Research helps getting in/out of the truck bed as well. Top of the truck is 6’9”…fits just under the normal 7’ garage clearances around town. Fits in my garage, just have too much other storage in garage floor to pull all the way in. Great vid, gents!

If I am not mistaken. Once you go with a 4 inch or higher lift on these new trucks. You can never take it back to stock lift, because of them cutting into your suspension. My 2020 F150 has the 4 inch BDS with Fox coilovers on front and regular Fox shocks on back with a Roush Supercharger and it rides great with 35s. I love my truck, but it scares the HELL out of me with the power. You better be steering straight before you get into it. Or it will put you in the ditch. It happens so quick. Especially when its wet outside. I have to use 4 wheel drive auto. Or it won't grab traction. Plus mine acts like it has power bands. The second one kicks in around 35 mph and then the third kicks in around 75 mph and it will break the back wheels loose in all 3. On the street you will back off of it because it won't stop pulling......

I like the lift for appearance on this truck, I think it is very easy to overdo it. I dislike how you lose all capability. I also am at the airport every day, if I can’t park by ramp. I may need to go in the parking garage, that doesn’t work with a 6” lift. I prefer a 2.5” level; perfect stance, retains capability, tightens the suspension a little and allows for 33”s

I’d blame the shimmy on those Ridge Grapplers. I hate them, had them for a week and ditched them. I have a better ride with Trail Grapplers and BFG KM3.
I don’t like the idea of cutting the frame crossmember and dropping the diff. I’d be more comfortable (emotionally) with the 2.5 coil over leveling kit and 33s.

Owning a truck with 6” lift is for off-roading, I would want that to be able to get through tough places, only a sissy lifts a truck and never uses the 4 wheel drive. In NY we get 800 tons of snow and that lift would be great up here getting to the cabin with your high school girlfriend.

Swapped them out for Toyo AT2's and fixed that issue. Just bought a 22' Lariat two days ago and looking into lifting this one as well. Hoping I don't run into any such issues

That’s what I’m facing with my 2021 f150 xlt. I bought it from dealer that has a 6” lift w/ 35’s made by Venom. I was told from the shop that does these that he could not stop the shimmy.
I added air to the tires and that helped some but at 55 mph, it got a little better and at 60, it was smooth. Then 65 I started noticing it more and 70 it was smooth.
Could it be a balancing issue? Should I spend the $22 each tire to re balance and see how it goes?

I’m currently in a rental f150 and like the drive a lot. I want my truck to drive a little better. I already switched from nitro ridge grapplers to Mikey Thompsons ATs which helped. Would dropping to 35s or going to a 4 inch help the ride quality. Or is it not worth it

  • @Nate-zy5ce

This is a very interesting and informative review. Thanks guys. At the risk of you knowing my inexperience with this stuff, a question. How would you describe the difference in performance between a supercharger and turbo twin turbo? I live in mountainy ski country, and am considering an suv or more likely one of the latest Ford F150's. I've been thinking given the high altitude it would be good to have a turbo or twin turbo engine for the additional forced air compared to a naturally aspirated engine. But how is a supercharger different in what it does, and in how it performs, and will it accomplish the same high altitude benefit? Thanks if you or anyone else reading this knows the answer. As for my F150. I'd love the Raptor, but am leaning towards raptorizing a Platinum, including maybe a 2 1/2" leveling/lifting kit, hopefully with springs, thicker rubber tires, I'd love 35's but could get smaller wheels with thicker rubber to keep the same diameter I suppose, and i'd love a 3-4" offset, meaning1 1/2" to 2" offset each side, then adding a fender to allign with the outside of the offset tires. And get the whole thing blacked out. Not sure what of the above is possible, or would cost, but those are my thoughts and I'm just in the research stage right now. Love your all's passion for these vehicles. Great idea for a review. Thumbs up! Oh, and Lol, you brothers have a great interaction!
