  • Hey guys, I'm back with more AC3 content. Hostile Negotiations is my favourite memory in this game, as it covers a very large area, features a lot of treerunning, and gives you a lot of options to work with. I also tried to feature the Parkour Down mechanic in this video, and it's most apparent when I use trees to descend from heights. As always, thanks for watching.

    Ok, you had way too much fun with this mission! Lol, lots of great kills, and different ones too. The two guys at 2:51 lined up nicely for you, and the smoke bomb kills at 3:01 were fast & furious. Really great run. Great pace and good use of the tools and your surroundings!

      Thanks! I don’t think anything I did here isn’t possible in the original version of the game. The one thing I’m slightly iffy on is the double assassinations at 5:06, not sure if I did that in Low or High Profile and I’m not sure if the guards below are far enough away not to hear a high profile kill, but even if not, waiting a few more seconds would probably do the trick there.

    3:05 I really wish Unity's kill animations were that fast.

    • @jcers
      @jcers  Před 3 lety +6

      That would be a lot better than what we got, yea.
      Other things that makes AC3’s animations better are *1)* the animations are predictable and consistent based on the context in which you trigger them, meaning you can pre-plan a killchain before you engage, *2)* you can control the speed & pathing coming out of the animation, *3)* you can double assassinate from any angle, *4)* running assassinations actually preserve your momentum properly, *5)* Low Profile assassinations are actually Low Profile, and *6)* you can assassinate with any weapon. The Kenway games absolutely *nailed* the kill animations, and Unity’s regressions in all of those departments are pretty disappointing.

    • @ryf772
      @ryf772 Před 3 lety +4

      @@jcers And for some reason people defend Unity because of that terrible animations.
      One more thing I hate about Unity is when the camera locks itself whenever I low-profile assassinate, so annoying.

    • @jcers
      @jcers  Před 3 lety +4

      Ryf yea, also annoying. I like how it zooms in for assassinations in AC3 but I don’t appreciate the camera locking like it does in Unity

      @@jcers I agree very much because the Kenway games especially AC3 absolutely nailed the kill animations and in Unity imo it was such a major downgrade in killing animations and I don't get how people say Unity has the best combat when AC3 exists

    • @jcers
      @jcers  Před 4 lety +10

      Beside William? No, they’re pretty far apart, and AC3 does a thing where some enemies are scripted to instantly true detect you the second you engage, even with smoke. It’s pretty annoying, really.

    I know the game have its problems, narrative and gameplay wise, but I forgot how much parkour, aesthetic beauty and tools you had in this AC

    • @jcers
      @jcers  Před 4 lety +14

      I think a lot of people forget about that. AC3 is a game that’s similar to Unity in the way that it can be frustrating going in blind because you have no way of understanding the game’s systems, which have things about them that don’t really explain themselves all that well. Once you do understand how everything works, though, AC3 is a very fun game that offers quite a lot of creative expression.

    • @Pumpkin-Link
      @Pumpkin-Link Před 4 lety +6

      most of the gameplay problems were solved in the remaster. it's harder to get detected when enemies are not facing you, the weapon wheel has no more delay, the hidden blade is now default for low profile assassinations, there are more places to hide, the HUD was completely revamped. in the original game it was almost impossible to maintain a stealth style. this is literally the best remaster I've seen in my life and people keep bashing it for the visuals just because the characters look slightly more artificial than in the original

    • @jcers
      @jcers  Před 4 lety +11

      Denis for real. I’ve never played the original AC3, but from what I’ve heard, the stealth is...less than ideal, let’s say. in addition to what you listed, the remaster also added whistling from stalking zones, double assassinations from Low Profile, and free aiming. All of those are insanely useful additions to the game, but everyone calls it a shitty remaster because the faces look a little worse. This is one of my biggest issues with the Assassin’s Creed fanbase: that so many of them have such a huge boner for pretty visuals and fancy animations that they would rather play a game with objectively worse mechanics that looks beautiful than a game with objectively better mechanics but looks dated.

    • @Pumpkin-Link
      @Pumpkin-Link Před 4 lety +3

      @@jcers yeah I forgot about those, in the original you could only whistle on corners. Also now the passthrough sections in buildings will pop up on the minimap when you're detected.

    • @jcers
      @jcers  Před 4 lety +5

      Denis I think you could also whistle from blend spots (haystacks, benches, etc). As for the minimap, you can see where guards are looking on the minimap, and it shows you which guards are snipers, whether guards are on the same height as you or not...why wasn’t this stuff in the original game, lmao? It makes it so much more playable on a basic level.
