Autoglym bottle looks more classy
Great fun video Jon! Nice to see you having a good time! Very interesting & educational exposé of up-to-date products - thank you for your effort and imparting your knowledge to us! All the best, Rob
Love how the maguires got all the aesthetic and ease points and the autoglym got all the performance points. Did my car with the autoglym about two hours ago I thought it was easy enough to use.
Easy way round the Autoglym bottle holding conundrum....loosen the trigger screw collar a few turns, rotate the trigger approx 30deg to the right or left if your southpaw and tighten back down. Fits the hand perfectly now 👍🏻
Love your work buddy! Keep up the great work! Out shining my own E36!
I bought the AutoGlym product on back of this. Applied to my dry car which recently had a ceramic coating applied. Buffing product off was very easy, far easier than I thought. Left a great finish.
Very thorough as always John.
Fantastic video loved the point scoring idea made the video even more fun to watch
Another great video keep up these exceptional educational videos
Good video/demonstration John, I have the meguiars product and think its great but I do like auto glym products, I was using them years ago b4 I tried Maguires. It looks like I got to buy the auto glym now because I like a slick finish, even though I have bottles of detail sprays and waxes on the shelf that I have only used once or twice! Keep the videos coming John they are a good informative watch 👍
Great video with well thought out comments. Thanks!
Love the slickness test John 👌👌👌
Great video and test. Think I'll be getting some of that Autoglym stuff
First time I use AG Rapid Ceramic spray blown away at both how quick and easy to apply it was and also the glass like finish it has left on my car. As a weekend warrior I love it. I used it after using AG Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection. Just to see if it would work despite it not actually bonding with the paintwork. It worked. Really slick smooth finish.
Yeah I bought this to put on after the same polish and thought I’d see what FD had to say - so glad he didn’t trash it like the polar snow foam (which is pretty sh*t lol)
Reckon that's one of your best videos Jon 😃
Great review I’m currently using the Autoglym find it great and easy to apply.
But still think the best spray on sealant I’ve use is SONAX polymer net shield 🛡
Thanks Jon, another informative video.
After doing all the tests you have done, I feel revisiting the price point to give back the point to Autoglym, as if you need twice as much to make as hydrophobic and it doesnt last as long then your use more product making megs a more expensive product overall. Just a thought and great video john keep up the good work.
Interesting point: i think it's good to compare products based on price per mL, and also based on amount of product needed or used. Some product need to be layered thicc and some might require only a mist per panel. But it becomes more difficult to quantify this part.
In the end, i think it's just two different products with different goals. Meg cer detailer seems to be a good drying aid on a ceramic coating (from experience of different youtuber) and a decent (but much expensive) quick detailer with added ceramic.
Autoglym looks more like a standalone protection for a couple of months, or a topper for the autoglym cer coating.
Wow Autoglym really smashed it in this one.
From my experience the meguiars ceramic detailer works best as a top up for in between waxing. On its own it adds minimal protection that only lasts a week. But it worked great for reviving my old “dead” paste wax. Really easy to use and shiny as well. But will have to try that Autoglym next time
Hi john the autoglym has a really nice smell to it and like you said I have found it easy to apply best wishes great video,Ian
Great video. Many thanks. You confirmed for me Autoglym is the best stuff.
Another excellent video. Thank you.
Can I apply the Autoglym ceramic spray as a top up after my regular washes?
Be interesting to see how bouncers done and dusted si edition would compare to these two !
John tes vidéos sont très instructif. Merci pour ton honnêteté à tester ces produits.
En plus votre débit à parler est lent et est facile a comprendre.
Thanks a Million
Greetings from Canada🇨🇦
Nice Effort to compare the products, good job !!!
Just got the autoGlym today been out and used it and I love it so much. Had my 30 year old MK1 mx5 resprayed. Wanted something to keep the paint all good and I can really say very easy to use product
John, why not compare the hybrid ceramic wax to the AG ceramic spray? Interested to know your thoughts.
Great video as usual!
Good video, would be interesting to see gloss comparison on an uncorrected panel, which is probably more realistic for a Halfords shopper
Late to the show but I use both for different purposes. Megs is great for adding some extra gloss and to remove any smears or fingerprints left over. The Autoglym is far more durable and seems to provide a wetter gloss to the paintwork IMO and I use it to boost ceramic coatings. Without sounding critical surely it would be better to compare Autoglym to megs hybrid ceramic wax as they are both the same category? Great video as usual 👍🏻
I don’t have Autoglym, but Megs Detailer has been my favorite detailer for awhile.
Autoglym picked up all the important points but, like you say, it's a different product. I've just finished cleaning my car and used Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax (spray) for the first time. Applied off-label using pea sized drops on a damp applicator with immediate buffing. Looks great and I understand will last a very long time. I'd consider the Hybrid Ceramic Detailer but will probably just stick to the HCW applied off label every few months
Jon, can I ask a question a bit off topic?
I’m going to be getting a rug doctor deep clean machine for my house carpet cleaning. Have you used surfex HD for a task like this? Surfex HD is a great cleaner/degreaser and I was wondering if it could be used for something like this?
Definitely going to pick up a bottle of the Autoglym next time I'm in Halfords to give it a go to top-up the menzerna power lock sealant I'm using maybe once a month.
I would love to see the new Gyeon Ceramic Detailer reviewed in such a manner as well; great video as always. I recently started using the Gyeon Quick detailer to top the new Gyeon wax (which is absolutely amazing, btw) and the gloss and ease of application was truly surprising. It seems a little more forgiving than Beadmaker which I used to use and doesn’t need buffed as much.
its coming, but the products are not available yet so I need to wait a bit. the wax is a belter isnt it curt ;)
@@ForensicDetailing oh my goodness, it throws water off like I’ve never seen from a wax! It was easy to work with especially considering I left it to cure over night then buffed off the excess the next morning, just like they say you can do. Super easy and impressive product.
@@ForensicDetailing hi, great review, question, can I use the autoglym ceramic spray on glass windscreen?
Good job John!
John, great video as ever, but I’ve got another question for you; When you apply the product how long do you allow to ‘cure’ ? Is it a case if spraying wiping a little then allowing a final buff a few hours later ?
spray on panel, spread with like a applicator designated towel, once spread buff to a shine with secondary towel (or flip first towel) just maybe count to 10 after spreading the film before buffing. And I would leave it alone before getting wet. I actually find this is important. ideally leave it for 24 hours.. but if not 24, then leave it for a few hours before getting wet. I try and follow that rule with all products.
Great vid mate
Very enjoyable & entertaining video 👍
Is that a m235i I saw behind the golf jon 😁 beautiful colour👌
Liked the video due to the effort always made.
But shouldn't you of used the meguiars ceramic spray wax (it's a blue bottle) instead as it's a better comparison than the detailer you used in the video?
Thanks for another great review john , how often you you recommend I use the auto gylm spray wax ? I’ve heard it lasts for 3 mths ? I’m guess once a month should give me a descent result? I’m guessing I don’t need to use auto glum aqua wax anymore ? Many thanks mark
yes no more than once a month really. this is similar to aqua wax. you prolly need a regular QD though.
Love this video. Helped me choose
Another top video jon
Hi Jon, really good comparison tests I have the autoglym ceramic detailer but have yet to use it going to keep it for the cooler weather and apply it over ultra hd wax then maybe use the polar seal.
Can you tell me one thing, can you just wash your towels with a mf wash and you can re-use them as the actual ceramic % is not that high or do you have to discard them.
Looking forward to your Gyeon wax/ ceramic detailer review.
Many thanks! Great job 👏
Like you said two different products really. The Meg being handy to keep in the car for spot detailing duty and topping up protection and the Autoglym great as a stand alone and drying aid.
Would you use the Rapid Ceramic Spray with the Polar series?
Good work Jon! Meguiars hcd as a drying aid on a ceramic coating works great for me 👍
Makes you wonder what is the point of topping up protection if it just wears away again in two washes. Maybe if you just want to stall out a reapplication of a stronger sealant a bit longer?
Would you consider trying AD project 64 as it claims amazing gloss as well as a light wax coating
Thanks, Jon!!
I have the autoglym rapid ceramic and menzerna power lock John. Would it be worth layering both or would they work against each other etc??
I’m honestly losing track of all the different “hybrid ceramic” products these companies are bringing out. It makes it really difficult to decide what to buy and even what product is for what application/scenario.
Love the slip test. Who hasn’t had that happen to them. 😂
Also, you say your score system is a bit daft but I think it’s great. For example, the packaging. I’d go for the Meguiars on looks but the Autoglym appears better in practice.
Great video as always, Jon. 👍👍
Great examples given.
keen to see how the AG product fares against TW Ceramic Spray or Sealant Wax and AMD Hybrid Sealant or Detailer. As you say Jon, HCD does need to build up layers and does complement a HDW base layer.
Probably going to try the AG spray. However in terms of water beading, it doesn't look like it even comes close to Aqua/Express Wax (which I spray on wet with maintenance washes). And certainly doesn't compete with a good quality paste wax. Very impressive slickness on the AG spray here though, that tilt test was great.
I bought the Meguiars John, for finishing my 1 sport shadow edition, which is metallic grey. It's a great product, so much so that I don't need to go the full nine yards and - cut - polish - wax. every four months.. One thing I have noticed is that though, is that it's easy to overload a panel with this product, which leaves a strange dark smearing. I think you talked about this in a previous video of yours. So I basically apply the product to my towel rather than directly to the panel... my two cents worth
Very useful test this, if you take out the price difference ( which is either relevant or not) and the “ sexiness “ of the bottle, the AG wins hands down on points.
I had the autoglym ceramic spray few weeks now . It very good product. Good as a drying aid to. But I have noticed in sun you have to work quick and small areas at time. On a summer day it may be difficult to use why they put a max temp on bottle . I used a lot ceramic sprays this does have good durability but for me one of the more difficult to use in sun.
Do prefer the Megs bottle for ease of use, agree does look better, similar to Mothers and Carlack, quality trigger sprays too. Just tried some Infinity Wax products the triggers are very poor. Like you say though the Autoglym bottles are part of their heritage I first bought them in the ‘80s and they are basically the same as then.
you are a drug to me - cannot wait for each vid
Enjoyed your video on autoglym ceramic have not tried it yet but I will do now
Sooooo what if you used both.... use the Meg as a detailer to get rid of dust and the AG for the actual sealant... would it actually sit on top and cure 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Both products are very good for that top up clean or when you have less time for a more thorough job. Autoglym are more 'old school' which is appealing to a lot of folk as the bottles and labeling show. I have products from various companies all seem to work well.
Any chance of comparing AG Ceramic Spray to the Megs Hybrid Ceramic wax? Thanks
We would like to see the new sonax products to the test!!! Again great video sir.
I have used both. Megs is one of the best "detailers" i have used. Autoglym i think is a "spray Sealant". Rapid ceramic i think is a similar idea to quick wax...A thicker layer of megs may change the tests, especially durability gloss and waterbeading. Great video tho. Great to see logical thinking around testing products. its not all, "lets throw some apc at it"
Great vid, do a review for Polish Angel cosmic v2
I have used Aqua Wax and now Rapid Ceramic Spray interchangeably on my car, just testing what's best for me. I have recently been hammered by salt spreader, and the sandy residue came off the paint without my intervention as soon as it rained, leaving the car fantastically clean. Now I don't know which of the 2 products did the trick.... However, Aqua Wax is much easier to apply on a wet car. The ceramic one did not feel like it was protecting the car that well (subjective) , and I felt like drying the car prior to application was the best way to go. This meant much, much more work ! I think I am going to stick to aqua wax for now, but considering hard wax at least once every 3 months.
Love your vids mate. Appreciate real
World tests, science and technology ! What bout title wax graphene in this mix tho?
I love your enthusiam and kind words honestly there so many top guys out there like you watching that make it a real pleasure to do this.
@Forensic Detailing Channel Thankyou diamond geezer ! I’ve just got back into detailing as a hobby after 20 years and was astounded at the products available so having great unbiased product reviews that I can geek out on are key lol
Even if here in Aus we get little stuff !
Blessings
Meguiars is fantastic, can’t get enough of this spray wax👌
What is the best approach to remove dried on cement splatter of a alloy safely
Very interesting, i was really looking forwards to this Autoglym Ceramic Spray review. However i just wish you had compared it to something more similar as you say Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray would be a more direct competitor - mainly because i already have the TW product and don't really enjoy the user experience that much even though the results are great. Best wishes.
Think your great. I've watched loads of videos.. I'm getting a new jetwash on Wednesday as it comes with everything I need lol 😁 I have snow shampoo and it hasn't been doing what it should be doing so a stronger jetwash what comes with the bottle 🍶 for snow shampoo.. I don't like auto glym as my dad used to use it never could get the hang of it.. So the green one.. I'm trying to find the wax that is great of the same make..
Clear winner in AG - off to Halfords for me today 👍🏻. Nice review
Been waiting for your opinion on the new autoglym ceramic.
Gyeon can coat or car pro lite are better options
I wasn't in love with the Meguiars. It doesn't leave the slickest panel feel, and even working in a shop, spraying sparingly into an applicator, I got some visible streaking on some bare black paints. It's in kind of a unique zone. Some of the advantages and disadvantages of both a heavier sealant, and detailer spray.
For me, as a professional, a detail spray just cannot streak. I can't micromanage application and Scangrip every inch of every panel everytime for a quick detailer. So it's not something I reach for, but still a capable quality product for what it is.
Technician's Choice 582 Ceramic Detail Spray, at under $30 per *gallon* 😲 has been the best all around pick for me. Versatile, fast and easy, flashes quickly with a clean removal, durability in months not just weeks.
Insanely hard to beat that, but I'm always testing new stuff. I'm in the U.S. so haven't tried Autoglym. Thank you for the video my dude! 👍✌
Hi do you apply this auto glym product before or after polishing?? Or is this used instead of polish??
Alright you need to try mothers ceramic spray wax I done a quick video last night. And was extremely impressed
Dodo juice detailer is my go to I've been using it for over a year now and think it's the best and I've tried nearly all of the quick detailers on the market
I like doing the autoglym 3 stage foam , wash , seal. Can I put this ceramic spray after to add more protection
Love autoglym and i love this new ceramic spray and it works 👍 been using autoglym for 20yrs great products but i always stick to them and never mix
Amazing video 🤠
Since the early 90's i've simply used Auto Glym Wash, Super Resin, and their bumper & rubber products - and wash/polish every couple of weeks - and I've literally had people asking me how i keep my cars so clean & shiny
I like the ease of AG product use justifies their slightly higher asking price
When complete strangers give compliments - that's a good enough endorsement to continue to use the brand
Ive Never 'defected' to other brands - although I'm open to genuine recommendations, from people to try as comparison
timely test as i got a bottle of autoglym this morning washed with garage therapy coat of monster shine the the autoglym ceramic spray couldnt do whole car to sunny [what in wales] but well impressed good vid thanks
I use the meguiars products because I could get them here in he USA. I’ve had good results with the ceramic spray product. I have found it to be a good ‘put it on your paint every so often after a wash’ product.
its a very good product and it delivers on its claims well as a ceramic spray detailer. one of the best all rounders out there I think
I like to use the megs on my C5 coated alloys to finish with, add a bit more bling. Got it with a discount for £15.
Dont no if uve tested it yet but got ingition snow foam from poundland 500ml bottle any good
Have been using Meguires on my S3 Red metallic paint and gray RR absolutely fabulous to use and both cars really shine, S3 is 6 years old and looks like a month old. I use when car is dry, and use a microfiber block and apply like you were putting on a ceramic coating then buff off, I give it 10 /10
Recently found your channel and getting addicted :) I'm new to detailing and have limited time so I've been using the AG polar range with SRP and extra gloss protection occasionally. For the average person that would only use one protection product would you go for a wax, ceramic or stick with something like I'm using? PS. defiantly going to give built hamber products a go when I run out.
Hey there, SRP + EGP is a really affordable combo. I used this for years. If you want to try more modern products get the UHD wax and the Ceramic spray. you will notice they bead more and last longer. But they cost more. So your using a very affordable combo at the moment. How you look after the paintwork as well is more important that the wax you use to protect it but your in good hands with autoglym i think.

@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for the quick reply, yeah they seem to work ok for me, got them in an autoglym set but almost empty now so I'll give the wax / spray combo a go next. I don't often get time for a full detail so the polar blast/wash/seal route is used 3/4 of the time (better than nothing type wash). I was then checking out the page, I imagine it would be a useful course... Thanks.
@@ForensicDetailing you might well have answered my previous question. note to self read the comments before commenting
Watched you for a while now and have learned a lot of tips keep up the good work John
#autoglymforthewin
Interested whether you would use this in conjunction with auto glyms Polar Seal. The Polar seal is recommended to use once a month.
With the AG would a new bottle fix the issues with application? All thier bottles are a bit rubbish imo
Is the AutoGlym ceramic much different to the aqua wax?
Great clip, yet another Autoglym product to add to the collection. Would this work to enhance the protection of the spray on Autoglym Polar Seal or not?
I'll never tire of the Jon humour 🤣. Keep making great content!
I've used this after polar seal and works well! Especially for that top up shine in between longer cleans.
Im interested to see how the AG compares the the TW ceramic spray. Im currently toying between the two. Primarily I use AG, but I’m not adverse to using another product.
What’s your thoughts?
I think the autoglym one beads up a bit better but the TW one has very good durability. both about the same price. It really would not make too much difference.
Hi I'm sure it's a silly question but. Do I use the Auto Glym ceramic spray instead of a wax. I usually wash and polish every time I wash but I don't always wax, Don't know if that's right but does the ceramic spray give a better job than the wax. I am using a Maguires wax. Thank you.
you can do yes its about the same sort of of durability. but you can also put it on top of wax or the autoglym ceramic coating product. so base sealant of topper if you want.
Lovely Jubbly I'm sure AutoGlym love you now Jon.
Quick question, car detailing is new to me and loving the videos.. i'm using the polar wash system blast, wash, seal - Would you still recommend a ceramic spray as well? Thanks for all the hard work you put in with the vids.
Dave
not unless you really want to try a ceramic spray wax. use up the Polar Seal first. You can also decant some polar seal about 1:20 and use it in a sprayer like the ceramic spray giving you some massive value for money.
oh and Dave forgive the plug but you should check out my Detailing Fundamentals training course with discount code applied:
ioa.pxf.io/c/2687409/1012495/12764
@@ForensicDetailing Brill thanks very much for the reply! I'll use up the seal first as you suggest. Only got the 500ml bottle as i got it as a kit with the foam cannon.
@@ForensicDetailing I'll take a look mate :)
Great video.
