Nikon was really smart to sponsor you doing this series. Until recently it seemed like Sony, Canon and Fuji were far ahead of Nikon in terms of working with CZcams creators - and honestly that stuff matters these days, it shapes how products are viewed. The whole series was great and you’ve given people who own these cameras and lenses (including me), or are considering buying them, a lot to get excited about. Great stuff and I hope there’s a season two!

I've got the same set and its the best Nikon camera I've ever owned. I'm actually surprised it doesn't get better press on CZcams.
Nikon doesn't pay so many influencers like Sony.
Because doing a very serious, almost regretful video about why you’re switching to Sony is where it’s been at for the last year.
Their lenses cost triple the competition and all they have to offer is better out of body color science. There’s no good reason to own a Nikon other than fanboyism.
@@ako9212 ergonomics, evf, handling, video, lenses (very good, sharp lenses, don't let aperture fool you) and build quality would like to have a talk with you.
You know, some guys don't just choose a camera based on one fact (auto-focus), but rather by the complete package.

I have been using the Nikon Z6 for about 2 months now, and I absolutely love it! I have the Fujifilm XT20 as my first camera, and it was a great camera but the ergonomics, colors and functions that the Z6 offers are incredibly amazing! I don’t get why some people are hating on it.

I've been very happy with my Nikon z6 since I purchased it a year ago along with the Nikkor 14-24 mm f 2.8G.Absolutely brilliant image quality, especially suitable for street photography, photos look so sharp,so natural,so vibrant.
Have you tried the 85mm F/1.8?
Thank you for your quality content! I currently own a D7200 and I'm looking for upgrading it to the Z6. My main use for it is food and product photography (90% of the time I'll be shooting from a tripod, tethered to a laptop). A couple of questions come to mind: is it possible to use live view while in tether (it isn't with the D7200), and do we need to remove the card for it to work (again, another characteristic of the D7200)?

I have just one question regarding durability of the camera after 250 000 clicks. The shutter is granted for 200 000 but I suppose since in most cases you take single pictures its gonna last easily twice as that...can you confirm that? Did you have anything that you had to take it to service?

I recently ordered myself the Nikon z7 and I'm very excited to receive it for wildlife photography. I may try out to separate accounts on social media, one for abstract things and another specifically wildlife.

Can I ask what filters you were using for the photos in Japan? They were a movie type filter? Did you create yourself or did you use lightroom etc??

Are the extra megapixels in the z7 worth it?? I got a Nikon D610 and it basically have the same count. Much older camera though...

Firmware 3.0, no AF fine tuning and IBIS were the major reasons why I jumped into mirrorless a lot earlier than I thought (plus a work bonus to pay for it). I was originally going to wait for a second generation body but here I am with a Z7 :)
I loved the Z6 when testing it out. I ended up getting the Z50 with kit lenses for travel specifically.
Also a great camera. We used ours on these trips way more than I had anticipated.
Man you have brought justice for Nikon's Z series. Most CZcams personalities who reviewed the camera just really thinks the Z series is inferior.
@@mikebray48 And many are "ambassadors" for a particular brand who have every motive to cast doubt on another. brand's credibility. Z6 is an amazing camera - my go to one and I have a Sony a9ii
@@mikebray48 Well actually for a Canon user, Matti did a great job reviewing the Nikon Z6 in my opinion. And also another Canadian "Lost LeBlanc" did an awesome job reviewing the Nikon Z6 as well. I don't even think Peter has tried the Z6. There are quite a few positive reviews of the Z6 out there.
@@mikebray48 well look at Jared Polin, he uses it for video, but still choses sony based on overall performance for photography.

If this will continue to be manufactured by the time you could afford it...you should still buy it (or its successor)...it is really worth it...

Great video, just watched you Z6 II out of the camera video. I’m going mirrorless from a d750, not sure if I should go with a Z6 II or used or refurbished deep discounted Z6? Any thoughts?
For the main landscape usage, I will buy Z6 and save money for 14-30 lens.
I’m so happy with my choice in buying the Z6.. it feels like every youtuber is using a Sony these days.. I was close to joining them.. but I was coming from a D5500 and I kind of was used to the Nikon system so wanted to stay if I could, ideal world I wanted a flip screen for video recording and low shots but the eos R was the only option and that lacked quite a few things for me. Ultimately the z6 ticked pretty much every box I needed.. elite evf and screen, great video options, a touchscreen that works like a touchscreen should.. easy to navigate menu systems.. affordable native glass that is incredible also.. while it’s great the eos r has all these f1.2 lenses nearly everyone I know with that camera doesn’t have native glass as it’s too expensive
Hey, I am currently using an d5600 and I really wonder if does make any huge difference to switch from ovf to evf and how is the battery life on Z6?
Holy cow I regretted selling my D5500. Even the kit lens is sharp as hell. I paired it with sigma 18-35 and shoot a couple of photos. I only noticed the difference when I compared it with my Canon 6D thinking it would be inferior but no, especially when cropping the Nikon is better. If not for the skin colors (I mostly shoot my family and relatives) I would not get the Canon and stick with Nikon.

Hi Taylor! I wanted to ask you how many photos you shoot for a typical wedding and how do you keep track/know when you have reached that threshold during shooting?
I just shoot forever haha. Really any events happening I take photos in the best way I can in that scene. Usually after 20 minutes of dancing I feel like I have everything I need

I follow you for a while, Taylor, and this just popped up, love the intro, sad that very few people got the reference though
I'm interested in the Z6, but I am hearing, that even with the newly updated firmware 3.0, focus tracking can be a bit hit-and-miss. Have you come across this problem and, do you have any information from Nikon that they are working on this with another new update?
Tbh I never use focus tracing. I use the tracking functionality if I am in auto aera AF for eye-af and the camera doesn't see the eye or there isn't an eye in the frame. So I use it as a kinda fast to access single point AF. For 90% of my photos, I use D9 and it works very well. For action the 2 area modes (wide area s and wide area l) are a better choise than tracking imo. That being said, I sometimes use tracking instead of focus&recompose for street photography, and it works almost perfect for that.
I think the biggest -and maybe only- problem with tracking is that you cant change the size of the tracing box itself, and for smaller subjects it can be to big.

Gh5 is a great camera. The updates have made it an entirely new camera a few times over
Taylor Jackson I couldn’t swing the GH5, however picked up a used G85. It will let me start creating and upgrade down the road.
Just got my Z6 after switching from Sony, and honestly, Nikon is really sensible and flexible, especially if youre still using an older Nikon DSLR. Im looking at getting a D4 or D4s to pair with my Z6 and just the adaptability with f mount and z mount is so easy. Canon users know what thats like too, but only Canon because the other brands just dont have the extensive background in photography compared to Sony. Pretty with my choice and not looking back.
Just got it. I've had a bunch of Nikon equipment over the years; this is my first Full Frame (traded my Nikon D500). So far, using the kit f/4 24-70mm lens, I'm astonished about the low light capability. Also thrilled to be able to keep my F-mount glass (f/1.4 50mm prime and f/3.5-5.6 18-300mm tele), and save a bit of weight as well! Thanks for the great video!
Hope you are doing well! I have a question! Is 5 batteries enough for a full day wedding shoot with 2 nikon z6 body! Bringing charger also to charge battery in between! Only taking photos! And using only viewfinder and not the screen!
More than enough. With limited screen use I’d say you’re unlikely to get through 2.

R6 has two card slots, so for weddings there’s no comparison. Z5 vs R6 for weddings is close until it gets really dark. Then the R6 wins

Agree. It’s an amazing camera which I happily own.
I just picked up a Z6 and its an incredible camera all around. The only problem I'm noticing right now is the battery. I haven't gone out too much to shoot in outdoors but mostly in indoors and the battery drains very quickly and thats without doing any video. Im not a professional photographer and mostly do it as a hobby but once I go out to do some street photography im guessing it'll drain very quickly as well. Might have to get myself an extra battery just in case.
Having the displays (and the camera) on drains the battery. I'm using a 10s standby timer and with that I could shoot way over 1 000 pictures with one battery. It all depends how much you use the displays. But it is never a bad idea to have a backup battery with you :)

Just found this (3 years later!). Great review! Budgetary concerns - so looking at the Z6 now that the 8 is out with the 9 coming out soon. Would be upgrading from a D5600. This review is super! Any concerns you could think of why not to get the 6 (instead of 7/8 ?).
I just got my nikon z6 2 weeks ago. I asked my friend what do you think of the camera? She said it’s underpriced because it is really the best packaged camera. The LCD is amazing, the ergonomics, the quality of photos and the video. I highly recommend. I picked this camera over SONY a73 eventhough I saw many reviewers especially the ones on YT and social media use Sony. I doubt it at first but I just followed my gut and now I have no regret. 😇

As a wedding photographer - I’d probably wait for 2 card slots. As any other type of photographer, I’d get it. As a CZcams video creator, I’d probably be waiting to see if the next one comes with a fully articulating screen. As any other type of video creator, I’d get it.

How is sensor cleaning for slower aperture? It dreads me since I moved from F to D models. Mirrorless sounds like a nightmare for a regular cleaning routine...
Cleaning a mirrorless sensor is easy - its actually easier than in a DSLR. Also the sensor is protected a lot more than you think. Its actually difficult to damage. It takes 2 minuets to do.

How easy is this camera to use? I'm only interested in photography, mostly animals & nature. I've only ever taken photos with my phone.
Nikon user menus are arguably known to be the most intuitive to use across the major camera brands. I am a Nikon user myself and love the menu interface. Hope this helps!

Anyone else not able to download a pictures from the wifi/app? Every time I connect to my z6 and try to download a photo, the wifi on the camera shuts off?
