Would I Recommend the NIKON Z6 in 2022 ??

  • The Nikon z6 is still an incredible camera to buy in the year 2022, this camera has been my go too camera now since 2019 and everything I have thrown at this camera its handled perfectly.
    From photo to video this is and incredible camera and I just love the way it feels in the hands, its ease of use make this camera a breeze to work with whether that is out shooting a paid shoot or just photographing my kids.
    I would highly recommend the Nikon z6 to anyone looking to get into the mirrorless market and is in need of a high end professional camera.
    As with every camera they all have small things that we would change but the list of the things I would change on the Z6 is very little.
    If your in the market in 2022 for a high end mirrorless body then I very much recommend that you take a look at the mark 1 Nikon z6

    You can extend the battery life significantly by turning on airplane mode and turning off image review (you can still review your photos, they just don’t display needlessly while you are taking shots).

    I have the Z6, I bought it secondhand, absolute mint condition. It has been good photos all around. I recommend that you use the latest firmware to get better autofocus at low light. I also bought Nikon Z fc kit, love the retro like in my old time 70's 80's. Keep up a good work, I am guess you are getting a Z9.

    I’ve had the Z6 since launch and it’s only gotten better through it’s firmware updates. The single XQD/cfexpress b card slot is not a complaint for me. I’ve never had a card fail on me unlike I have with sd cards. I came from dslr so the ftz adapter has served me well for my older lenses while waiting on faster glass to be released for the Z mount. I agree with your key points and amazing video 👍🏽👍🏽

    Hm. Even though I love the image quality and the handling, I am not too happy with the autofocus. A lot of shots with shallow depth of field are focused on the eyelashes, not the pupil.
    Do you have any issues with that?
    I‘d love if you could make a video about your setup for shooting vids with your z6.
    Which lenses do you recommend? You said you only use z glass because it‘s silent.

    I hate the weird warping effect I get with short lenses + EVR.

    Great video.. I'm looking to make the jump from my first camera (Nikon D3100) to the z series. I am torn between the z6 and the z6ii.
    I'd like to get into portrait photography and then transition to wedding photography.
    The only reason I'm torn between the Z6 or the z6ii is the dual card slot of the ii.
    I saw a video where they host suggested that the z6ii was "future proof" and won't get outdated in the next 2-3years.
    I was wondering if the same could be said about the Z6?

    • @chriswillzphotographyandfilm
      @chriswillzphotographyandfilm  Před 2 lety +3

      The benefits of dual card slots obviously put wedding photographers at more ease but being a wedding photographer myself I have never encountered any issues with single slot memory, if you can afford the Z6ii then I’d suggest to go for that, if you would prefer to pay less and invest in a z mount lens also you will not be disappointed and I can guarantee the z6 will be more than enough for what you need it for, I wish you the best in your photography journey 📸

    good precise info, basically what I was looking for a in a nutshell. would you mind explaining to me or just giving me your opinion, does an enthusiast, or someone just getting into the foray of professional photography, do I need 10bit n log? I don't do much video, mainly want to get it for stills. general video now and then just to try it.
    I saw somewhere I need an external monitor for the 10bit n log, I doubt that's in my budget..

    • @chriswillzphotographyandfilm
      @chriswillzphotographyandfilm  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi there many thanks for your comment, the z6 is a phenomenal still camera and a very very capable camera for video, as mentioned the 10bit N-Log would need to be unlocked by Nikon themselves at a cost, I personally don’t have it and yes an external monitor would be needed to record it through HDMI. Regards Chris

    • @madez24
      @madez24 Před 2 lety +3

      Man, I can tell u now that u are not gonna need it. 10 bit 4k is only for video. And u will need not a monitor but a recorder, like Atomos Ninja V plus cables, batteries, SSD, camera cage, overall it's gonna cost u around 800-900€ extra. And while recording it's gonna be taking just tons of space on ur SSD. And it also has crop factor while recording with external recorder, because it shoots pure 4k, which is worse, because internally the camera is recording 6k video from whole sensor and internally downsampling it to 4k. So the only benefits u get shooting with external recorder is higher dynamic range, deeper, reacher and easier to edit colours. On the negative side is worth of extra 800-900€, extra weight, crop, less details, more hustle with noise shooting at high ISO because internal noise reduction algorithms are not working while shooting 10bit on external recorder. So is it worth it? No, it's not. Except only if u have some kind of +- professional production and earn money by shooting product videos or anything.

Again thanks for the explanation!! 🙏

    What picture profile settings are you using for video on the Z6, I shoot with the Z6 beast, and it seems I just cannot get the image that I want, that smooth cinematic colour, I use the flat picture profile, with some settings changed, like sharpening up to 3, mid-range sharpening 2 and clarity up by 1, I thought to put the settings like this, sharpening -3, mid range sharpening 0 and clarity plus 1, to get smoother bokeh and an smooth halo over the subject...

    • @chriswillzphotographyandfilm
      @chriswillzphotographyandfilm  Před 2 lety

      The XQD card is a very robust card so unless the card is physically damaged that would be an issue but in terms of just a general card failure the XQD cards are extremely reliable compared to a standard SD card so having just a single card slot gives me piece of mind. I also back up my images on my laptop and hard drive midway through a wedding day so ensure I have enough back ups
