My dad tells me that there was a time in America where they had rifle teams in public schools. Students learned to handle firearms and shoot them safely. Not a single shooting.
Criminals, mental illness and chemical/hormone injected individuals are wreaking havoc.
Yeah. It’s a shame. I love the simple life here for sure
Interesting aspect. Today they blame guns for mass shootings and want to ban them. But guns don't go off by themselves. That way, they digress from the real problem for the purpose of unarming people.
Fearless Chris is what I call you from now on 🙂 I was holding my breath the whole time man.
It was a little sketchy:)
Glad to see another expat enjoy riding on two wheels around the Philippines. If you ever get that riders club going give a shout, would like to join you on one.
That would be cool!
Nice ride video. Enjoyed it, will have to watch again to see where you got lost at. Thanks for posting this, Chris...Jim
Thanks Jim. Glad you enjoyed it:)
THIS is a video! Thank you!
I can only imagine that road during the monsoon. No, I would not bike on it then.
Me neither:)
We liked the “Bahala na si Batman” saying and the eerie music. That’s a 1st for Carefree Chris videos.
lol right. So fun
Chris great video enjoyed the ride. Many a time I have had to turn around and find a different way to go. It’s crazy but fun you are on a nice road or highway than end end and all you have is rocks and mud. I love it. As far as hotels if one night , where you stayed is good. As long as clean and no roaches 🪳 I am good. If I am staying for a few days and it’s a bigger city I stay at a nice place with a pool. It all balances out. Keep the videos coming I am enjoy the ride.
Right on! Thanks Tom
Chris, the music cracks me up! 🤣
But in all seriousness, when I lived in Pinas, a lot of my family back then open carried. One of my Uncle was a local politician.
When I was little, I remember when the men in my family used to go to a local shooting range. My Lola was into competitive shooting also.
But, you're pretty brave to venture out in the bukid or bundok by yourself and being a White man. A lot of those folks in that area are extremely poor and probably never seen a White man in person. Your spidey sense kicked in, Thank God.
It's a beautiful ride. Those roads though! 😂 The scenery is breathtaking. Pinas is truly a beautiful country.
Thank you again and looking forward to your upcoming adventures. God bless
I'm not sure if I'm brave or just an idiot:)
Hope you guys are great there:)
You can see that in the province. There was a guy what would walk around with his .22 rifle and I asked him what he was doing. He said that he was protecting his goats. Was looking for a dog that supposedly killed one of his goats.
The cement roads will end abruptly a lot when you get off the main roads. You are cruising along and then all of a sudden, a big dip sometimes about 7 to 8 inches then you drop into a rocky and gravel road. Fun times for sure. 😅. I have been riding for many a very long time but hardly experience many gravel roads. You learn quickly here. If anyones plan is to travel around the back roads here in the Philippines, some sort of off road, or an adventure motorcycle is the way to go. My Honda CB500x has handled those types of roads very well. Also wear closed toe shoes while riding.
Yeah man. Love the riding here
Great video Chris. Love the scenery and your sincerity and infectious humour is great. May I suggest you dedicate one of your videos to reviewing the bike 'Review of Royal Enfield Hunter 350' - I think this will attract many new viewers from the biker community worldwide - who will undoubtedly become subscribers when they see your overall content. Good luck!
Great suggestion!
Ahh, there's nothing like a wrong-turn adventure, with a random rifleman to increase the adrenaline. 😆 I'm glad you survived to post the video!
Be careful riding in those flip-flops. I was riding a dirt bike in shoes once. I hit a piece of wood and the front tire flung it into my foot, breaking a toe and a couple of bones. Thankfully, it was my right foot and not the left one. 🤕
Yeah. I should ride in better shoes. Thanks man
Nice tour ! 👍🏼 really enjoy the off the beaten path kind of stuff. Like to the waterfalls , jungle , etc.
If you do decide to do the touring stuff … sign me up ! This would be the best way to tour IMO . Beats negotiating with the tri riders and Jeepneys are crowded and don’t go to the fun far outside places . Would you just lead other drivers ? Kinda guide them where to go , like you did with Chad ? Or would they ride with you on your motorcycle?
Like I said , sign me up 🤗🤗
The thought is i would have bikes here and we'd all go ride. Do like 3-7 day trips. Hire a chief... Along the lines of the BMW Rawhide rides
Looks like it was a gorgeous day for a ride.
You got that right!:)
Great video. Love the music also. I really like your genuineness. You stand out to others who sensationalize. I’d love to ride with you one day. Have a US drivers license. What’s best way to be legal driving in Phillipines on motor bike?
Yes. Let’s ride! As far as your license get your motorcycle endorsement there in the West. When you come out here you’ll have 90 days and then you can “transfer” your license
Looking fordard to your Northern Luzon driving adventure.. take care..
Thanks 👍. Someday
When do you do the Southern Luzon tour? I will be waiting for ya around the corner...
Enjoy Leyte mate - it’s a beautiful island 👋
Absolutely
I will go on your adventure riding tour. I was already thinking about have a motorcycle shop on the highway in Leyte, Leyte. I can provide service for your bikes as well. I can show you a couple nice ride near where you are right now.
Yes. I’m ready:)
If you do decide to develop a business touring Leyte I've got an extended Filipino Family member that lives in Pastrana near Tacloban. He’s an entrepreneur and very industrious. I’m sure he’d be willing to help you develop your tour idea. I’d be happy to make an introduction when the time is right if you’re interested.
Really cool. Appreciate it
The guy with rifle is probably a wannabe hunter /hobbyist
The gun is probably we locals call "eskopita" or an airgun.
Wildlife hunting is banned and illegal in PH ,but there are still bad guys.
Yeah. He’s probably bird hunting
I think some side by side tours would be fun
Let’s go brother
Made me miss my 74 CB360T. Good ride.
Right on!
I had that bike
I rode the heck out of it then about five years a go i bought a basket case got it running, took it around the block then sold it, I didn't realize I had it bad then but memories are good.... have two fuel injected harleys now and just sold my 2013 injected CB1100 a perfect yet kinda boring bike i was 14 when got 360 now 57
There are many nice Kanding/Caribou tracks in the Philippines province. The destination is so worth it though.
I can not wait to explore some of the back country
Looking forward to riding with you
Let’s ride brother
Hey Chris, wanted to share important tip with you , i just learned that some research shows that high dosage of vitamin D fixes sleep apnea, and vitamin D deficiency is the root cause for most of its cases, research it yourself many doctors put up videos about it, and it is totally safe to take high dosage with proper other supplements (k2 and Magnesium) but always ask your doctor first for sure. all the best
Thank you. I hope now that I’m outside more I’m getting more vitamin D
@@CarefreeChris you are welcome, just wanna stress that the doctors who are speaking out about that talk about a conspiracy by the pharmaceutical companies to suppress the high dosage of vitamin D and spread fear about its toxicity because most of chronic illnesses could be cured using it which will hurt their sales, (the toxicity is very rare and with proper accompanying supplements it guarantees the safety ), sure being out in the sun would help but nowadays most people are deficient and you would need to check your level and most probably you would need high dosage to bring it to optimum level 60-80 not the recommended level 30-50 because they put the recommended level as per minimum which doesn't help with any chronic illness, vitamin D is actually a hormone which is crucial for almost all body functions, and most of us got blind sided by the misinformation spread by the companies
Man with rifle reminds me of the movie Deliverance. You should have played the banjo music from that movie. It's probably Jho's relative?
lol that’s hilarious
Never a boring video/videos. Some of us wish we could do what you do. All we can do is daydream hah. Keep it up. Enjoy the travel.
Thanks, will do!
That was an air rifle. There's a rod that you pull out, you hold it with your foot and you push the rod in a few times to charge the air pressure. They're typically brass in color but looks like he painted his.
I’m not so sure but wasn’t a big deal either way
exactly, that model airgun was common when i was a kid in the province for hunting bird
What happened to your traveling companion? I thought you two were doing this trip together
He’s still here in Leyte. We’re doing different things really from the beginning but we’re both still in same area
Your next bike should be an Enduro. I think if I make it to the Philippines or Thailand and stay permanently, I’m going to purchase a Honda Enduro hopefully find one that’s liquid cooled. I would also buy a scooter and use that as a grocery getter. What a beautiful ride!
That’s some good wind therapy!
Net bike will probably be the Himalayan 450:)
@@CarefreeChris I don’t know Chris from up here in Michigan. Enduro is definitely preferable over a street bike. Is the Himalayan just a street bike? I would think with the types of roads and those roads turning into gravel and then just fails. It would be interesting or more interesting to travel up those trails, on a Enduro motorcycle rather than anything street like.
When do you think would be better? Why not?
Maybe even a Kawasaki Enduro with some baggage ??
I'm with you. Most international travellers just want a simple place to sleep bec they go out & explore the next day. Cheap electric from nuclear could bring a $10/night hotel. At least you got a good kick out of that rifle thing. Gotta get some kicks somewhere to feel alive.
lol I know right. So fun. Hope you’re doing great there too
Blessed morning my friend stay safe at driving always eyes👀 one the road 🛣️so that avoid accident . Dont forget sign of cross before u go somewhere say thank u Lord for safe travel... Few advice from a friend.God bless
Thank you friend. Amping po
if you checked the Southeast Asia Crime Index Rate ranking i told you about before, you'll see that PH is just next to Thailand. Though unfortunately, Metro Manila has the highest crime rate in SEA. So that means crime here is concentrated mostly in Metro Manila (which is composed of many cities). But then it is also the most densely populated area in the world, the reason being most people in the provinces, even as far as Mindanao, flock to M.M. for "greener pastures". But anyway, don't worry much about your safety as those places are quite safe. :)
Nice. Appreciate the info:)
@@CarefreeChris Here's the stat:

Salamat kaayo:)
An American opening a tourism business in the Philippines is a sure fire way to get a visit from guys riding tandem, with a burner waiting to share their displeasure of you taking food out their mouths. Pro tip: Leave the tourism / tours to the Filipinos bro, I like your channel and want you to keep this channel going for us expats for many years to come, don’t want you getting mixed up in the mix up!
An American just got murdered in Cebu for opening a cookie business as we all know! We gotta be careful.
Hello there! Mr. Steve Austin! (Just kidding) Lol 😂😂😂
Just want to let you know that you have to be very careful when you're traveling in part of Samar (Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Northern). I was born in Western Samar, and now residing here in the U.S. But from my own experiences in the Philippines, when I was younger. There was a bunch of New People's Army, especially in provinces like Samar. New People's Army are Communist or they are anti-Philippines government. New People's Army (we called them NPA in short) always carries fire arms (riffles, etc.), and they don't wear uniforms. They wear regular clothes. New People's Army leaves up the mountains, far away from the City. Like the areas that you've shared in the video. It looks like the person with the riffle that you've ran into the road, he looks like he's one of them (NPA). The reasons why I said that is b'coz when I was in the Philippines years ago..... my sister and my brother in law riding motorcycles touring part in Leyte and a couple of people they we're in the middle of the road trying to stop us. And they were carrying riffles. It was so scary. Do not trust people, even if they're friendly to you. Just take my words, b'coz been there done that. And I had so many experiences in the Philippines when I was younger, some experiences are funny, some are bad and some are frightening and scary. Just be careful. Have a Blessed beautiful day, sir!!!
Wow. Something i have not thought of. Appreciate the insight AsiaOnMyMind.
@@CarefreeChrisThe bike touring looks really fun. Just to add, I’m the type of guy that never gets scared of anything (except natural disasters like super-strong typhoons!), but I’m not a young, tough guy like I thought I was in my 20s, 30s, 40s anymore. I completely mellowed out decades ago. I’m sure you are keeping aware. As for me nowadays, I’d much prefer traveling with at least 1-2 buddies in the area you’re in by the looks of it. Just remember, not everyone is necessarily your friend. Also, I realize it sounds very creepy, but also remember in some cases you may be worth more dead than alive (not a good situation to put yourself in). I’m sure you can assess the risk yourself. I just want you to be careful. Anyway, spectacular countryside. Are you and Chad meeting up occasionally?
@@AsiaOnMyMind Oh dear, I had a language school in Cebu, but I am still alive... what have I done wrong, that they did not murder me?
Cue Deliverance music😂
Lol
He got a real pretty bike ain't he? … great comment. I probably shouldn’t have seen that movie when I was 7, eh? Well, at least my parents followed it up with healthier shows like Jaws, Alien, Death Race 2000 and The Deer Hunter. As I am typing this, I am realizing it might explain a few things 😅 Thanks for the therapy session!
Fircken love this community
10:08 sketchy guy with a rifle 😂 Actually guns are legal in the PHILIPPINES and he might just be hunting or doing target 🎯practice. Not unusual for many rural areas of America either 😊
Yeah. It's was harmless but in the moment was a little unsettling
Filipinos can carry pistols and handguns in public by acquiring a permit to carry (which is so hard to get). But I don’t know about rifles. Some provinces have NPA’s (New People’s Army Rebellion) especially in the mountains. So please be careful.
@@buzz_chill its an old model air rifle like people used to have back in the day
The girl on the scooter passed you 😂
lol i know right. I ride slow especially with everything that I’m doing while riding
Maybe he was hunting.
Yeah. Probably was hunting
What happen with traveling plans with Chad ?
He’s still in the area but he’s doing different stuff. He’s more into talking head stuff and I’m more into travel stuff. We’re just doing different things
@@CarefreeChris
Yeah I noticed that on his channel .
prolly an air rifle for bird hunting, air rifles were common back in the day
Yeah that’s what a lot of folks are saying
Man thought you might be dead . Long time in-between what happened to the other dude ?
lol I did a live on Wed. Been running around back and forth. Chad is still here in Leyte too
@@CarefreeChris I missed they live I guess. Good to see you still amongst us and bringing us along ! ☺️
10:06 Just a bird hunter
That makes the most sense
Bird hunting? I thought that hunting birds in this country is illegal and punishable by law. Every Filipinos know that.
Denatured alcohol propelled gun, using bearing ball or little glass ball as bullets..
oh now your searching for guys 😂😂😂 good luck😊
I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places
Lookin' for love in too many faces
Searchin' their eyes
Lookin' for traces of what I'm dreaming of
Hoping to find a friend and a lover
I'll bless the day I discover another heart
Lookin' for love
@@CarefreeChris and now Chad is slamming you , glad you stopped hiding
hello crush! great that youre havin fun in my homeland! 😘😘
lol. I’m loving it here. Love your country
@@CarefreeChris pleasure to know!
❤❤ but one word Adv bike and you wouldent even fell that 😂
I know right. What’s nice is I’m seeing some good ADV riding for the first time
@@CarefreeChris just wait to you get to the east side off leyete and mindanao its so dahmm beutifull and adv country 😉 and the filipino do it on 125cc scooters and slippers so dont cry so much just go 😂
Good call by adding 'guy with a rifle.' It definitely made me click.:) But thanks for the views. You are right. Such beauty!!
Was a good ride all in all. I’ll be back once I have a different bike, gear and other riders:)
@@CarefreeChris A different bike? What kind of bike are you looking at? Why do you say the adv 160 would be better on dirt roads? Have found the smaller street tires on scooter bikes are terrible on dirt sandy roads.
Hello Chris. I take it, that was a joke about wearing the ATV boots, eh? (Still wearing the flip flops?). Mid-way through this video, looks like you got off the main road. Or, are you on the main road?
Yeah. Joking and the road ends and I have to turn around. All in good fun though as I’m just exploring
"The guy with a rifle"... if it is not the "guy with a machine gun", there is no reason to get worried. You see them frequently, I guess, in any province. You should get concerned, if you dress up like a bird... LOL
lol love it
A single man with a riff doesn't mean anything in the middle of nowhere. You should stop and ask him what for he carried the gun. 🤔 for hunting wild boar 🐗 or 🐦. As I saw him, he was trained on use of guns lol
Nice man. Appreciate the insight
@CarefreeChris Doing my best for valuable ideas and for others. Nothing special. I'll move gradually there... still very young. First for a month, then back. After for three months, then back. After, for a year, then back for a month. It depends on what I'll find there to make me(us) stay longer beside the nature and weather... At the moment, I am learning from others' mistakes ... Thank you for that. I appreciate it as well 🙏
1st
first for this odd vlog lol:)
your business is gay bike tour
Ride on brother. Literally.
@@CarefreeChris wow , the bald high school romeo that can not even get attention from 16 year olds is using his best tough guy line on me . Get this creative around prom time and you might end up holding hands aftér a few months , nice to see yiu recomend Christian Filipina , how many girls have you met there . If Christian Filipina had bothered to watch your smooth tactics with the juveniles im sure they would have recommended you to " Foreigner Filipino man love , for those who have finally found who they are "'
its okay , its accepted here . And besides its not like everyone did not know you were into young boys , its in every action you take every time you look at a guy you reveal who you are . Most viewers believe Chad has topped you a few times , Chad being a little more masculine while you embrace your femininity , so funny to here you say the women are so feminine when you are more of a lady then they are
Ride on , remember to tell that to Chad when he is riding your backside
Ride on Chad , give it to mam Cris
Chris love your stuff but this is boring
Harsh bro.
I hear ya. Need more camera work. Drone stuff as well as iPhone stuff and corners. I’ll get there. Appreciate the input
no, it is not boring... it is interesting, so I can compare Cebu and Batangas provinces with what I am presented here, since I haven't been to Leyte yet. Keep coming the "boring" uploads
This has got to be the weirdest vlog with the bouncy, bouncy insta360 stick and music selection. 🥱🥱😬😬…SORRY!!!
It was an odd day no question
