Jaina playing Jaina being coached by McCree against Gazlowe playing Garrosh
Travis is also Reno Jackson :D
o: i didnt know that
I believe Matt is also Nefarian
Jaina coached by Rexxar
WOW, I did not know they voiced all that.
I will literally watch anything involving Laura Bailey.
But does she?
John Shepard and Matt
Her responses to stuff are always so damn adorable. I can't wait for Titansgrave season 2 to start for more of her antics in that.
Inb4 rule 34.
Scrolled down to say the same. Laura Bailey's voice is just so wonderful, I could listen to her say, read or act out anything. First heard her as Trunks in Dragonball Z many years ago, then heard her again when I played Saint's Row the Third, then a number of games since then.
Laura: Oh no time's running out.
Laura's Inner monologue: Time's running out.
Matt: Time's running out.
Jaina Proudmoore (Laura): Time's running out.
I like that Travis didn't mention he voices Reno.
After 7 years, Lust finally got her revenge against Mustang.
EightThreeEight And then they got married
This is the real world!
Laura: "I've never been in a game this long before!"
Has been in the same DnD game for 4 years.
I assumed she meant a Hearthstone game. I think she and Travis probably have played Hearthstone casually.
"Ooh donuts! are you distracting me? I'm fine with that."
I would say that 😂😂
Knowing that Travis, Laura, and Matt are all friends made this all the more enjoyable to watch.
Laura is probably the most adorable human in the world
wolf870626 Travis Willingham is a lucky man, Laura is so amazing
Agreed
Logan || Laura Bailey is also a lucky woman because Travis is likewise amazing ;)
Laura voiced some of the sexiest characters. Jaina Proudmoore being among them.
Ummm, Ashley Johnson? 👀
Is it bad that I love seeing Laura and Travis play against each other in anything I can watch?
22:11 "You're buying breakfast!" This two are so adorable together!
Did anyone else realize Travis had a "heart of the cards" moment? Like, really?
"My deck HAS NO bad cards, Laura! Reno Jackson, obliterate!"
I believe in the heart of Reno Jackson!
I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I've played Hearthstone since launch and while there was a lot of misplays I still found it very entertaining to watch. It's about the people, emotions and having fun; not the plays. If you want to watch high level Hearthstone there's plenty of other places to get it.
ditto
for me, the problem was that their emotions were objectively unjustified. i know that sounds weird, however it was hard to share the emotions when the mage was clearly ahead but they still pretended that it was the other way round.
Exactly. This is meant to be laid back and fun and silly not like super competitive and serious. I've played since launch too and the thing about this game is, the average player makes a lot of misplays. I still do. That's fine. This was entertaining to watch.
Because Laura and Travis are both super novices at Hearthstone. They've played it a "bit" before but only a handful of games just to sort of try it out because they always play the games they voice in a bit to see what it's like. They have more fun just picking at each other than anything as lots of husband/wife pairs do.
It's not about the bad plays. It's about "coaches," who are really playing the game by telling the others what to do anyway, are making poor choices. If this was Laura and Travis playing and making poor decisions, fine. But when you have "experts" telling them bad moves, it hurts. Plus, there was a lot of over-acting--like, why is Travis' coach so freaked out by Yogg when she knew what he was and that he was what the deck was built around?
I really wanted to to like this, and enjoy watching Laura and Travis play, but it was so painful otherwise. The show didn't even really explain the reason/significance of the duel (married in real life and each voices a key character related to the deck). I feel like the show tried real hard to be funny, exciting, and gimmicky, and somehow almost completely failed all three. I couldn't get into it, and I knew 3/4 of the people involved. :/
And here we see Chrom teaching future Lucina how to play a virtual card game.
Against Lon'qu.
+Ross Cooper So that's how she was really able to become Basilio's champion in the Arena.
+Ross Cooper Alternatively, it could be against Brady.
Very true. Two Second Gens would make more sense, in fact.
And somehow, either Robin is not all over this kind of game.
I love how Matt stayed calm the whole time.
7:58 Jester voice before Jester was a thing
czcams.com/video/d6ndE0N4l1g/video.htmlh008m019s
czcams.com/video/VNrlekNcNwM/video.htmlh008m037s
Jester was a thing.. Enjoy.
@@fredgarvinism You God.
"I of course will be providing the magic, and Laura will provide the madness." Already predicting that team will win.
Laura and Travis are adorable together. I've met them at conventions and they are the sweetest people.
This is a very weird formula, especially the "coaching" bits, but I like it.
Though I wish they showed everything
It's made even funnir by the fact they both kinda suck at it haha
They're actually ok for first time players is the funny thing
Hi Taureor didn’t expect to see you here
@@justinkendrick4039 sup
Laura and Matt, the two most competitive people, on the same team: Losing is NOT AN OPTION!!
"That delicious beard smells singed, Travis."
Not every day you get to see Lust and Roy Mustang play Hearthstone with each other.
They're married
even more interesting XD
That just blew my mind
I was waiting for this comment!
Lust finally got her revenge.
You should have made it a little clearer that they actually are the voice actors for Reno Jackson and Jaina Proudmoore and that's why they played those particular decks. Laura mentioned it a few times in passing, but it was never explicitly stated and anyone who doesn't already know who they are might not pick up on it.
You also should have mentioned that they're married. It provides some context to the back-and-forth between them during the game.
Yes, _Critical Role_ is arguably this channel's biggest show (which is why you're now featuring _Critical Role_ stars in your other shows, of course), but don't assume your other viewers know these people as well as fans of _Critical Role_ do.
Michael Hayden no
Michael Hayden Yeah I definitely didn't realize that
omensoffate Thanks for your contribution to the discussion. I don't know what we'd do without such thoughtful input.
She only mentioned voice acting Jaina in WoW. Did she also do Hearthstone (and, while were at it, Warcraft 3 and Heroes of the Storm)?
EDIT: OK, I've looked up the answer myself. Apparently, she voice acted Jaine first in WoW's 2nd expansion, WotLK, and all Blizzard games since then. In Warcraft 3 and Vanilla WoW it therefore must have been someone else.
1:00 literally says she was the voice actor of Jaina in her intro, like do you want flashing lights and alarm bells?
Loving that they got this real life couple (who I absolutely love watching in Critical Role, BTW) to do battle, lol. Makes me consider playing this game again, lol
Wonder how the conversation in the car will be after this match?
"I won, so you're doing the dishes tonight."
@@_UPRC I can hear this in Laura's Jester's voice...
I don't give a crap about Hearthstone but you bet your butts I'm going to watch anything with Laura Bailey! That woman is a treasure.
And Travis is great as well.
This video probably gives us the most insight into their marriage. I mean, Travis trying to distract Laura with doughnuts? There's no way that's not something that happens a lot.
Laura Bailey is so goddamn adorable, omg.
Hey, sorry this show isn't good for people who do play Hearthstone. But as someone who knows literally NOTHING about the game, I enjoyed this!
Even for me it is and I reached legend rank last month. I just love these guys from the show critical role so I could literally watch them doing anything and be entertained :P
Yeah but it’s good for anyone cause Laura & Travis
This is what Hearthstone should be. People just having fun and not worrying about "oh it has to be perfect"
Falcon777 HE MISSED LETHAL!!!! Kappa
Is okay. They had fun.
it all depends on the person dude.. either you are a player(fun type) or gamer(serious).. you never could erase the serious thing in a match game..
do he even play by top deck ? , hes not even using meta cards , joking :D
Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham are just fucking goals, i swear.
Here are my thoughts,
Positives:
- The hosts are fun as hell (don't know Rachel but Matthew is always a pleasure)
- Really great Production value visually and location wise
- Great starting guests, but make sure to keep that up since they are a crucial aspect
- Really well-done tutorial for non-players of the game, and can get them into it
- Good pacing, in the sense of knowing when and where to cut and keep it interesting
Constructive Criticisms:
- I like the ideas for the humor and skits here, but yes there are a bit over the top
- Should have mentioned (even if just in video description) about how they are the voices of the decks they played, how they are married, other cool information like that.
- Editing at times is a bit sporadic and jarring
Possible ways to improve:
- tone it down just like 10% or so.
- I think it's important in the future to try and use more advanced strategies and more complicated gameplay so that veterans or those who play often (like myself) can get some more out of it other than basics
- Make it a bit shorter, the length is a bit too long, at least for my taste.
Hope that helps!
- Make it a bit shorter, the length is a bit too long, at least for my taste.
That's what she said.
GeminiJoule I agree with all of this
GeminiJoule 100% agree with you, was fun to watch but the coaching wasn't very good and it bugged me a bit.
It's only 22 minutes. That's really short. Yes, a normal game can be played really fast. But that's not the objective here.
Christian Cain I agree that first turn coin into little spellcaster girl seemed terrible. my thoughts were T1 worm. t2 coin into flame weaver. t9 have a boosted 2/3 into face plus flame weaver set up for more dmg on following turns.
Overacting aside, it was neat to see Jaina actually playing Jaina.
Also I play a ton of gazlowe so
Jaina coached by Rexxar/Ragnaros/Nefarian vs Reno/Gazlowe
WTBGold I’d play.
You mean, play spells and when Yogg comes out he silences himself with the first card... XD
This is so perfect! I hope that there's more of these, I'm already in love with the game and cast
Right at the end, "You're buying breakfast." These two are the cutest couple I've ever seen.
as soeone who has never even heard of this game, the episode was super entertaining. Hell, it even made me want to try the game out.
I absolutely love Travis and Laura lol
This show is freaking EPIC!!!! I loved it so much you guys did a great job. I hope there are many episodes to come.
so much fun with that video, love it
Also, I as just waiting for those two to go
Laura: FATHER, I WON! *with Fire Emblem victory theme*
Matt: I'm right here, I see that.
Sadly not the case. XD
Recognizing Laura is really hard because her "Jaina voice and accent" is so much different to the way she usually talks.
Yeah, I know - I searched on CZcams. That was meant to be a compliment. :-)
Acting
Uh... thats odd, i was thinking the complete opposite. Her Jaina voice sounds pretty much identical in my ears
Bloody brilliant! Thanks so much for all the hard work
That was awesome, I can't wait for the next episode!
Coin Sorcerer's Apprentice with a Mana Wyrm and Flamewaker in hand? Oh boy, it's one of those shows is it?
It gets worse, arcane missiles then mana wrym in the same turn, and that was WITH the "expert" helping.
Blood Angel He also coached her to play Cabalist's Tome before the Mana Wyrm...
The Critical Geek rank 1 plays right there. Gorehowl to face was correct though SMOrc
It's one of those shows where they don't play perfectly, yes :) this is about casual fun, not 100 % optimal plays.
They don't always listen to the advice, sometimes they play cards too quickly and at the beginning Matt was being more of a back-up, slight hint kind of coach rather than literally playing the game for her like the other team was. Just chill, it isn't the hearthstone olympics over here, they're voice actors just having fun.
The little cutscenes are the best 😂
This was a lot of fun looking forward to more :D
This was a wonderful thing to watch after ep. 68. Love it!
Vex and Grog!
7:22 those hands... I think 10 makes her think of something else. Travis is her husband, right?
Awesome episode, guys! Very much looking forward to more!
This was beautiful!
Everything about it was just superb~
"You're buying breakfast"
That's awesome.
This is very casual level Hearthstone, but it was pretty fun to watch.. especially fun to see Jaina being played by Jaina(Laura Bailey), who is one of my favorite voice actors. Almost surprised she didn't throw more quotes out, but i guess it gets old for them.
Another fun video uploaded on my birthday. I am liking the pattern :)
This is really fun to watch.
Finally! A show that gets that Hearthstone is a silly game that's the most fun when the random bullshit happens! Seriously, if you want to see optimal plays and optimal decks there's hundreds of other places to see that and it's what 99% of players play anyway.
Personally, I'd love to see some serious gimmick decks face each other. So someone unleash the deck of legends (only legendary cards), the pro-choice (every card makes you choose), the murlock army (all murlocks), the surprise (all random effects) and so on - Basically, all the fun decks that wouldn't do well otherwise, but make for exciting duels!
Serana should be good at casting spells. She's always hitting me with them
Awesome! Cant wait for more!
Very entertaining. I want more please!
I really had barely any idea what was going on in this game, but it was super entertaining to watch.
I think I'm in love with Laura Bailey
Sorry, but this is TOO over the top, way too much. That the guests don't know hearthstone is fine, the coaches giving tips is also cool.
But this, with the "cutscenes" and the over the top "I'm a general and strategist" stuff...THE CRIIIIINGE!
Welcome to the majority of Geek and Sundry. The only thing they do that I can stand watching is Critical Role.
Did you not watch the trailer for this show? That was WAY worse lol.
Hearthstone is one of the most casual card games in the market. It's
part of the appeal being over the top and light hearted. OF all things I
have seen of Hearthstone, this show got the closest to it's core,
instead of the fourteen Shaman deck in a week, we get two noobies
clearly enjoying themselves, some fun banter and a cool top deck of Reno
Jackson.
RanwulfMaxwell
You are clearly missing on what I meant with over the top. of course hearthstone is causal. And I have no problem with people playign on the show that never played it. But if these people are then depicted in over the top cringy "I am a super strategist" cutscenes...no thank you.
Different strokes for different folks
That was very enjoyable thank you!
I was rooting for Laura the entire time!!! 8-)
I don't need the game just watching Laura Bailey is enough
Fun to watch, great editing to remove the dull moments...super video.
That was awesome !
Spellslingers please!
Geek and sundry had a deal with wizards of the coast which was why the show started in the first place, as a promotion for magic. But wizards pulled out, so no more. Shawn and G&S have said that they'd love to do more seasons though if wizards came back in.
Logan Colp lol Go try and contact them, they wont see this comment
The battle between husband and wife. Can we all agree that Laura and Travis are an amazing couple?
That was pretty enjoyable!
Great video !
There was a lot of meta going on, but let's face it... Matt is an incredible strategist as well as an amazing DM. Laura may have been playing the game but Matt was calling the plays. Still very entertaining to watch the light of hope and confidence dim in Travis' eyes when he realized the end was nigh. Good game.
I think Laura has a bit of an unfair advantage, playing Jaina. Considering she voiced her and all.
So what? Travis voiced Reno.
Linerunner99 Card vs Hero? Really?
Travis voiced Reno Jackson, so...
But Travis voiced Reno Jackson. (Laura is so cute when he plays Reno at 15:38 : "Oh look, it's you!")
Again, Hero vs Card. Hero trumps card.
That was awesome to watch.
I've played Hearthstone casually, and I really like the silliness and drama Mercer and Quirico bring to the table :) I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! :)
I see Travis or Laura, i click Like!
5:17 how Ben Brode see's hunter.
Having seen the clip from CR 137 (138?) where Matt starts just his diabolical laughter...hearing him do some of the same on here is just...terrifying.
This is such a good series
Also why wasn't Laura given the Hunter? It's THE Trinket deck!
And Matt is the VO for Rexxar!
I mean, she WAS her hero, so that's probably why :P
She is playing the Hero she did the voice work for, just as he did for his.
Just bring back Spellslingers.
Geek and sundry had a deal with wizards of the coast which was why the show started in the first place, as a promotion for magic. But wizards pulled out, so no more. Shawn and G&S have said that they'd love to do more seasons though if wizards came back in.
Awesome ! Keep up the good work!
That was fun, I love these guys :)
I have a love hate relationship yogg he tends to do more damage to me than my enemy.
I don't play mage but I've never seen Yogg not lose the game for the player who puts him down. My favourite was when he sapped C'thun back into my hand at like 16/16. That shit was too funny.
Reno warrior is kinda hard to play, so maybe not the best choice for a newbie. But the match was fun, so I guess it doesn't matter! :P
this was great I love it!
this was awesome
So how long till this gets put on Alpha and blocked behind a paywall?
Lol, your comment is 4 years old.
Laura for the win! She is the bomb!
Loved it!
Yeeeeeaaah! Go Laura!! awesome episode
Hey, guys, I've been playing HS since beta and usually I get bored when I watch casual games like this. However, I know you from others shows and, knowing how amazing you can be, I decided to give you a chance. Turns out it really worth it. I know this sounds cocky, but if you could improve your gameplay for the next show to cater veterans like me, we would appreciate it.
Nothing big really. Just avoid stuff like coining out a Sorcerer Apprentice on turn 1 against a Warrior without spells in hand. That is pretty painful to watch when you know the game.
as a hearthstoneplayer i would like to love it, but they play sooo bad and the coachs idea of "coin into the 3-2" was SOOO bad i just cant
Holly you bad ass you
Adversely, i dont even know what they are doing but still love it because I love these people.
Holly I think that's y I love it
No kidding. TURN 1 MANA WYRM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
I turned it off after this...
Yes! Go Laura! That was a great game to watch, especially the back-and-forth. And I learned something, too. Iv'e never had a game go long enough to take fatigue damage, I didn't know it was a thing.
BRING BACK SPELLSLINGERSSSSS
i love critical role, and wish all of the guys all the best, but.... we got this? instead of spellslingers with day9? really? come on G&S....
Geek and sundry had a deal with wizards of the coast which was why the show started in the first place, as a promotion for magic. But wizards pulled out, so no more. Shawn and G&S have said that they'd love to do more seasons though if wizards came back in.
Sean*
and oh, didnt know that, does this mean they have a deal with blizzard for hearthstone? otherwise im missing the point, like there are so many different tabetop TCGs that they couldve chosen to do instead..
Could be, considering the hosts have done things for blizzard and GnS before so that is why they were picked (I only know Seltzer from hosting HS a while ago and Matt doing some of the VO). Would need to dig a bit more, but it might seem likely
Dang that is lame. I like Magic because of Spellslingers.
Personally, couldn't get into spellslingers, not really a magic player. But I understand how many people miss the show
I'd watch more of this!
that was a lot of fun!
Laura Bailey is in it so I have to watch it.
