    I honestly don't really care where we fall between picks 1 thru 3. Wherever we fall, it just signals to Mike Grier what moves to make and also what areas of the rosters we get to target.

    Celebrini has family ties to the Bay Area that make him an ideal first round pick. It would be a shame if fate intervenes to take him out of the Sharks’ lap. 🤞

    I can not believe it has already been 5 years without playoffs! I kind of fell off in those dark final years of DW where they were trying to still compete despite everyone’s better judgment. In my opinion those years were worse than this year because at least we’ve had stuff to root for and be excited by this season! Can’t wait to see what moves Grier makes this summer, in the mean time, go Stars!

    If the Sharks get Celebrini, will be interesting to see if he comes out right away or goes back to BU for another year. The connection between Sharks’ leadership and the BU staff are pretty tight given both Quinn and Grier are BU guys and Grier was a teammate of BU coach Jay Pandolfo for 3 seasons. And so I’m not a complete BU bobo, Will Smith from BC looks like someone who will really help as well.

      Celebrini was also a junior Shark. So he has a connection with the franchise as well.

    The Sharks losing in the finals against Pittsburgh was a huge loss for the NHL. One of the largest markets in sports has never tapped into the mainstream because of the Sharks losing when it mattered most.

    • @moonytheloony6516
      @moonytheloony6516 Před měsícem +1

      I read this claim and I'm not seeing evidence to support this.
      I don't see how a loss to the Penguins in the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals prevented them from "tapping into the mainstream" especially since they managed to qualify for the playoffs in the following 3 seasons in which they reached the Conference Finals in 2019....and lost when that series certainly mattered the most.
      If I'm missing something, by all means explain your position with more insight so I can see what you're referencing.

    • @MyselfTheThird
      @MyselfTheThird Před měsícem +1

      @@moonytheloony6516Because the Penguins are a non-factor team despite having four of the greatest players in the game's history. They and their fanbase do not move the needle and once Crosby finally fucks off they will be in the relocation discussion *again* just like in 2004.

    • @seanmoore9713
      @seanmoore9713 Před měsícem

      @@moonytheloony6516 them not winning the cup during any of those runs is the point. That one year was just when they were closest.
      The fact that the bay area is one of the largest markets, and has never had a parade or their name on the Stanley Cup, means mainstream (as opposed to die hard) fans don't care. A lot of people become fans because of their local team winning it all. That never happened in the bay area.
      Hockey still feels like a foreign sport to most of Northern California for this reason. It belongs to other cities. We just have the privilege to play those "real hockey cities."
      Had the Sharks won the cup at some point, it would be talked about in the local pop culture. The bay area is an influential region for pop culture. Therefore, it would have made hockey more popular, benefiting the NHL.

    I feel like they probably won’t win, may end up with a guy like Levshunov which isn’t bad considering the D prospect pool is not amazing.
    Can always go for Hagens next year since Grier will likely build another team that is meant to tank.

    If you expect disappointment then you will never get disappointed. That's how I'm going into this draft. For me, a win is drafting 3rd. That's how I'll cope when they inevitably fall behind Chicago and Anaheim.

    Grier is absolutely the worst GM in NHL history. Amusing listening to Grier apologists claiming the Sharks failures is a good thing. As Burns has a GWG in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Hertl is a great addition to an already awesome Knights team. Karlsson, Meier, Duclair... just to mention some other Grier blunders. Grier is a joke.
