    Since losing in the 2019 Western Conference Finals to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions, the St. Louis Blues, the San Jose Sharks have failed to make a postseason appearance and have produced a dismal regular season record of 123-199-50 under three different head coaches.
    At the end of this season, general manager Mike Grier announced that the team would be parting ways with head coach David Quinn after two years behind the bench.
    After winning the NHL Draft Lottery last week, San Jose has the opportunity to select forward Macklin Celebrini with the first overall selection, allowing it to take one leap forward in its ongoing rebuild. However, another integral part of the organization’s development and future success will be the choice of the next head coach of the organization.

    it might be a long shot, but Boston's Associate Head Coach Joe Sacco. in his first year with the Avs as a H/C, he was finalist for coach of the year. did well in the AHL. has had some interviews the past few years. and he is another Boston University product like Mike Grier. just a thought.

    So long as Jay Woodcroft adjusts his defensive schemes, he's gotta be your guy. I liked his time here in Edmonton aside from the defense (not necessarily his fault). Don't take McLellan... Barf

    I had tweeted about McLellan returning to San Jose, saying that with Macklin Celebrini returning to the organization (from the Jr. Sharks) that it wouldn't be strange to see two "Macks" come back. #ReturnOfTheMack
    Humor (or lack thereof) aside, hiring McLellan would make a lot of sense. If you look at his recent stint in LA, he had a lot of prospects that he had to coach up and he was very good at implementing and hammering down a system. For a team of young guys (like the Sharks have now), an Xs and Os type of coach, like McLellan, would be beneficial to bring these players along into a professional setting. Sadly, this would imply that McLellan would likely be fired from his position before the club had a chance to make a legitimate run at the Stanley Cup.

    Hire David Carle as head coach, draft Celebrini 1, and trade up into the top 8 for Zeev

    Brodie, let me throw a Wildcard into this.
    Dallas Eakins, formerly Ducks Head Coach.
    He Coached here in San Diego for the Gulls of the AHL.
    He seemed to know how to handle and get younger Players to develop.
    Shea Theodore, was here in San Diego during his tenure as Coach.
    I knew that he was ready for the NHL, Anaheim at the time didn’t have room for him, really.
    He’s become an important player for the Vegas Golden Knights!
    I think Dallas Eakins could positively impact the development of Cellebrini, Will Smith, Eklund, Etc.

  • @TheFlamingShark
    @TheFlamingShark Před 21 dnem

    No mentions of Sheldon Keefe? I like Woodcroft, but Keefe would be my #1 pick if I can have anyone. All Keefe did in Toronto was win (in the regular season) in the most difficult hockey media market. Even if he can't get it done in the playoffs, he certainly can help mold this team into a winning team, and then we can cross the bridge of playoff success when we are finally back there in the first place. I get he had a ton of talent in Toronto, but I think he'd be a great choice.

    • @mayhemjr.803

      The guy couldn't get it done in Toronto. What makes you think he can here?

    • @TheFlamingShark
      @TheFlamingShark Před 10 dny

      @@mayhemjr.803 Like I said, even if he can't, if he could get us to where he had Toronto, you can then fire him if he can't get you over the hump, but in that hypothetical we are a perennial playoff contender lacking postseason success, which would then be a very appealing coaching destination. Not to mention people that leave the Leafs win Stanley Cups after the fact more often than you'd think. It's moot anyways since New Jersey snatched him up and he probably wasn't involved in the process for the Sharks, but pretty much everyone we are discussing hasn't gotten the job done before either. Those guys don't exactly grow on trees.

    There's (unfortunately) no way it's Joel Ward. It's crazy that hockey has been so slow (on hiring diverse racial and even European coaches) that the perception would exist that he was an "affirmative action" hire (in much the same way the former GM of the Blue Jackets never hired a European coach). Some other GM will have to take on that burden and it's sad in 2024 that's still the state of things but it is the state of things.

    I mean no disrespect & I know that you're being sincere & I'm not trying to be disrespectful to GM Mike Grier, but, you send out Erik Karlsson, Timo Meire, Anthony DuClair & Tomas Hertl & you really expect not to be in #32. Let's face it & call it the way it is. David Quinn got fired because he still tried to win & racked up some points when they were trying to land the #1 pick, Macklin Cellibrini, likely, instead of him going to The Chicago Blackhawks. While I am not accusing of tanking, it is certainly difficult to say this was A Mere Coincidence. Let me know what you think

    Brodie, you have a thing for McLellan. I don't know what is is but forget it. He is terribly overrated and was a notorious playoff choker. We need somebody much better and a proven winner.
