All the stars aligned with the original film. The era, look, grunge music, goth aesthetic, casting, practical effects, everything was perfect. It was lightning in a bottle that will never be captured again.
I wouldn’t say that, it just needs to be helmed by someone talented.
Exactly mate
You are exactly right... I hate the young kids who watch it now say it's cheesy they don't know the context... for that period this movie was amazing the effects the mood the lighting it was something we haven't see before you can see so many movie copied the style later on like the matrix... the tone the long black duster cloaks and running on rooftops... so many movies copied the crow... but the crow was the original
Your acting like the crow was some mssterpiece on the level of like lord of the rings or something relax it's not that good
@@Jakester1472 when did I compare it to Lord of the Rings? For being based on a graphic novel, the Crow is a fantastic adaptation and a good film on its own merit.
RIP Brandon Lee. RIP original movie ideas.
To be fair, this is an adaptation just like most movies released. There are few original movies these days.
to be fair... creepshow already did the whole "murdered person brought back from the dead to avenge their murder" which was done in a couple horror comics, and used (in spirit) by the Lone Ranger ... the original crow wasn't an original idea.
@@notusingmyname4791 are there really any truly original ideas? We just kinda remix old ideas in new ways.
We even have Greek myths of heroes going to the underworld and returning.
One of the dudes who was in the crew of the Crow was also in the crew of Alik Baldbutt's "Rust" murder fest. IIRC he handed Binliner the gun… the gun Ballsack totally didn't pull the trigger of. I hope Alec Buttseks spends the next 15 years picking up the soap and getting gob smacked daily by a shower room full of eager roosters crowing a cockadudelldo.
Yeah there was a tad more anger towards the old Alec Baldloss than I realised I had kicking around inside me. But I certainly know what won't be inside me, unlike Baldspot.
It’s a comic 😂
7:32 Nothing wrong with gatekeeping. If we had gatekeeped a lot better, we would not have the garbage that is modern entertainment.
the term Gatekeeping is just a way to put a negative connotation on "protecting" something you care about.
This is what us diehard Star Wars fans feel about what Disney Lucasfilm has done to the property Jay. I feel your pain. And yes the original will always be the best version. "Fire it up!" 🤘
The first movie was good because it was its own thing. I don't think anyone's going to be able to replicate that one.
Who else has the original movie soundtrack and listened to the crap out of it when it was released in the 90's?
@@Snake-ms7sj me...was 20 when it came out and a few years into my goth/industrial lifestyle...loved a number of songs on the soundtrack especially After the Flesh by My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, them and Skinny Puppy being two of my favorite bands at the time.
I don't think they should try to replicate it. They might try a closer adaptation of the source material.
the crow sucks TBH......dark city is better
@@Djp2987 Dark City is good and all, but lacks the personal impact and nostalgia that the Crow had on me. Apples and oranges. Completely subjective, though.
Hollywood as a whole is beating a dead horse with a dead horse.
While forcing another dead horse to watch while another dead horse films the action.
🗣️📢🗯️”I SPECIFICALLY said 50 dead horses! This is only 20 dead horses!! Cmonnnn”
🤣🤦🏻♂️
That is VERY funny.
@@vernonwilliford2480 You know that doesn't work for me. I gotta have more dead horse.
@@jimnasium3208 do you have a fever, and the only prescription is more dead horse?
As a 58 year old man I am so glad that a young person like yourself validates some of my opinions. I am often accused of the angry get off my lawn narrative, which is not true at all. If something is bad I calll it bad it has nothing to do with anything. It just seem that there is alot of crap out there than there used to be.
Nothing wrong for calling out crap as it is, no matter how old you are. People just don’t want to hear the truth 😂
I'm right there with you.
"The Crow" IS our lawn, fellow GenXer; and Lionsgate needs off it. Now.
Just say it. Say it proud.
I’ll never forget the buzz when the original crow was realeased early in ‘94. The theater was PACKED. I saw it with a bunch of friends from work. We were talking about seeing it all day……….good times good times😂
i like the idea of theatre re-release tbh. i never saw it in theatres.
The way Hollywood is struggling, they might as well do that.
Yup! Give the people in their mid-40s and under (those who were too young to see it in theatres when it first came out in 1994) a chance to see it on the Big Screen! I watched it on DVD back in the mid-2000s (thanks Netflix), but it would be nice to see it on the Big Screen with other people in the audience! I WILL pay to do that, and most likely MILLIONS of others will gladly do so too! 😊
Saw it at the drive-in when it came out. One of the few movies I was ever glad I watched at the drive-in.
Never should have been touched. A movie that should be left as is.
Amen to that.
Agreed 👍
Agreed it shouldn’t have been touched/made. But disagree on keeping things locked in purgatory/“buried”. (Incl. Batgirl. Im sure tons are pissed about that) People spent time & money on it, possibly someone’s proud of the work…would be a huge “f* you” to those who worked on it. I dont work in the industry, but if someone buried something I worked on Id never work with em again…no point if you cant trust em.
@@geepike I do remember seeing the Jason Momoa test footage back in the day which looked really good but it was to close to a Brandon Lee copy.
Yeah, why remake a terrible movie into a worse movie. Is the goal to create the worst movie of all time?
Two of my nieces went to see it for the first time when it rereleased. I'm so happy THIS won't be their Crow. They saw the original in the theater 🙏
The problem isn't that we're gatekeeping. The problem is that we're not gatekeeping at all.
Numerous franchises would be in a better place if we gatekeeped.
How do you gatekeep a studio from remaking an old movie?
@@JDoe-gf5oz I don't know. Why hasn't Back To The Future been remade?
@@cmbjive Because some of the guys who made it are still alive and won't allow it to be. When Spielberg and Zemeckis are gone, you can be sure a remake will be right around the corner, probably as a ten-episode streaming series.
@@JDoe-gf5oz Sure. Then why is there an Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny?
That being said, your answer is a good response as to why it is important to gatekeep and prevent these destroyers from getting hold of beloved franchises.
@@cmbjive Lucasfilm owns Indiana Jones.
The Crow is a magical movie. I was in High School when it came out. It is the mood of the early 90s.
True indeed. I was 15 when it came out and I agree 100%. And the soundtrack was amazing.
Hollywood just can't let sleeping dogs lie.
They're out of ideas, and the state of writing is so bad, they just turn to reboots. And surprise, they're never as good.
Perfect example of why Fandom gatekeeping is in fact a good thing.
Facts
We never should have let them in the door. We should have electrified the gate and posted armed guards all around it.
amen to that
Perfect example of why it's not.
@@zacharyrobbins1410It would be necessary here. 🫠 your argument is just as big a disappointment as this reboot.
Just saw the 30th anniversary of the Crow on the big screen, there was a good crowd, at the end there was cheering and clapping, Brandon Lee still packs the fans in, they actually showed the trailer for the new Crow movie at the theater and everyone in the place started BOOING. Truly a cult classic. Snarky Jay Cosplay keep up the good work, you’re looking good as usually.
Quick impression of the new Crow movie for you...
"Caw Caw"
BANG!
"Fuck, I'm dead...."
the new eric, has more in common with funboy from the original...
Victims, aren't we all?
The original "The Crow" film is a classic, and a fitting tribute to Brandon Lee. But this reboot seems completely hollow, with none of the soul of style of the first film, and it doesn't help that they have made the crow character incredibly unlikable in this new film, by making him look/act like one of the band camp bullies from "Halloween Ends" for some reason? Hollywood must just like losing money. R.I.P. Brandon/Bruce Lee.
If you’re not even going to do the IP justice, then you shouldn’t even TRY to touch it.
I wonder if it was a rights thing since they haven't made a terrible sequel in two decades.
There is only one Eric and that is Brandon Lee. Rest in Peace.
I would actually prob watch this if he had any other name than Eric.
The issue with a reboot working is that when the first came out, it was a cultural intro to people my age at time (13), and not only was that my intro to some obscure bands, it introduced me to the comic, and through that I got exposed to underground art style, and OG punk and goth bands like Bauhaus, Black Flag, etc. the original crow comic, film, and soundtrack was a holy trinity for a teen like me to realize there was more to comic art than marvel mainstream, there was more to movies than polished blockbusters, and there was more to music than rock radio mainstays.
You CANNOT repeat one thing without the other ingredients being present. This could have been reintroduced in a similar way, but nobody behind this reboot seemed to care about the other aspects syncing up. That would have helped promote, would have helped introduce people into alternatives they were not made aware of through modern popular trends.
Art is only art when those involved care to see it be presented as such. They instead chose to co-opt a familiar I.P., and lean on it to create a generic looking product that strays too far away from what inspired it. Even changing the setting away from the 1980’s and not keeping it in that time period gutted a lot of heart and soul from what it could have been, as that scene and music and era was not just what inspired the crow to be created, it was what was it’s creators life experience when he made it. He saw these bands, he met the people around them.
You cannot have the crow in spirit, heart, or soul by abandoning the goth subculture and punk rock foundations of it. Change it as you wish, you still should keel that aspect in tact in order to keep it unique amongst it’s modern peers.
might as well just call it the raven at this point

I think if there was ever to have been a remake of The Crow, it should've been animated, in a very Japanese Anime style, and it should've been an exact adaptation of the comic book, frame for frame. That way it would've been a bit different from the live action movie, preserving that for those that love it, and we'd have gotten an exact representation of James O'barr 's original work.
💯
I just rewatched the crow last night. Bought the 4k release, and I forgot how good it is. The music, the needle drops and score are just great. The casting was great, Infact for a film to have such a small list of main characters, it’s near perfect. The look, it has that 90s low budget gothic charm to it. It didn’t need budget, it had atmosphere.
Speaking of reissues, it even features a cover of Joy Division on the soundtrack. One of about two JD covers as are any good at all, in this case Reznor doing "Dead Souls"
I totally Michael Wincott was in the OG Crow. Man time flies
Cool & underused actor. Always enjoyed his unique look, voice, & performances
Did you catch the 30th anniversary The Crow in theaters? They had a two night showing. I caught it and it was awesome! To see it on the big screen (again, I saw it in 94’) was so special! I actually caught small details I miss in the 100’s of times I’ve watched over the years. 🐦⬛🖤
I don't know, despite the insane amount of cocaine that Top Dollar was inhaling he does make some interesting points.
Top Dollar scene was perfect. God I love Brandon Lee's The Crow. This reboot is going to literally be a disaster. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they did a yogurt advertisement LOL.
Fire it up! Fire it up! Fire it up!
Brandon would be gritting his teeth in heaven after they release this dumpster fire. Lionsgate bitches on how they are 'remembering Brandon Lee' for this movie. If you want to remember him, leave the Crow alone and admire the flawless and final performance of Brandon Lee. Rip
It's like.. 'sacrelidge' to even THINK of remaking this! It doesn't need it! No one's asking for IT! And..I love YOU love it as Much as I love it. ❤
Wait ... at 7:45, if Eric got stabbed in the back with a sword, how did he pull it out from the front with the handle first?
Believe there’s a scene in trailer where he puts a sword through himself to kill the guy behind him.
Who cares
So far you've been the one to inform me that there was a Fall Guy movie and now a Crow reboot, and I had no idea about any of this. Am... am I no longer cool?
No the cool ones don't pay any attention to Hollywierd and all their garbage ass movies.
You may be blissfully ignorant in the best way. Being current doesn't mean being cool and almost never did.
It didn't even need to be a remake. Lore has already been established that Eric Draven being brought back is not an isolated occurrence. They could have easily just set this in the Crow universe with him being another incident where a crow chooses to bring someone back
Yup, but then how does the remake "ride the coattails" without the "Eric Draven" brand?
August is usually the graveyard month where studios bury the films they have no faith in. The Crow opening in that month tells everyone that the audience and the studio are on the same page.
0:51 "Is that gasoline I smell?" ⛽ 🔫
Looks like John Wick with face paint. Just without the Wick quality.
They could have gone 2 routes and maybe had a shot at success. 1, they go with Eric again, keep it close to what made the original so iconic, the look, etc, while carefully adding new things that feel like a natural evolution to the original. 2, go with a new character, new look, new story, that also still feels connected to what makes the crow so iconic, and hopefully not fuck it up.
They managed to do both and fuck up both.
In these days of unnecessary gender swaps, race swaps, sexuality swaps, etc etc, this is the only franchise that SHOULD HAVE done a gender swap. They should have made the protagonist Iris Shaw. Dumb DUMB DUUUMB move to go with Eric.
Hollywood are so clueless. They do nothing but miss the mark! They swap everything when it’s not needed and don’t do it when it is needed!
I will forever and always see brandon lee as the crow! R.I.P
The Crow is my favorite movie of all time. I didn't see it in theaters but i grabbed it from the new release wall at Blockbuster video in 1994 and have loved it ever since. I used to watch it constantly in middle and high school. The soundtrack is still perfection to me that introduced me to some of my favorite bands to this day. I was probably one of the only 7th graders dressed as Eric Draven, lol. I'm going to miss this new one until it ends up on a streaming service i already subscribe to.
My dad saw The Crow in theaters. The Flash is my favorite movie.
Ah, I remember watching The Crow on rainy Saturday afternoons back in the day. Pure nostalgia. Well done, Snarky Jay! Well done.
Thank you Snarky for making me feel old I remember going to the theater to see the original crow reminding that was 30 years ago
The Crow is not only a monument to Brandon Lee but also the family of Bruce Lee. With the death of Brandon during filming, and also Kurt Cobain's death a month prior to the film's release, The Crow became Zeitgeist, and you cannot replicate that.
A time when rock/metal was a BIGGER part of pop culture than it is now!
I saw the Crow special midnight sneak peek. And loved every bit!!
I read The Crow prior to seeing it in the cinema 30 years ago. I understood that there were elements of the graphic novel that would not make it into the film, but The Crow (1994) was a depiction that retained the essence of the personal story that James O'Barr told.
From the trailers this new version looks like it bears no resemblance to the source material. When this film is released I will be watching the 30th anniversary 4k steelbook edition instead.
Brandon Lee is and always will be the definitive version of Eric Draven. I first saw The Crow in 2001 after having wanted to see it since 1994 but couldn't (i was "too young") and it caught me at a time in my life when I didn't even know I needed it as much as I did. It instantly became my favorite movie and I used to rewatch it every Devil's Night. I actually have two or three different versions of it including a special edition and the BluRay. My brother got me the graphic novel for my birthday some years ago and I devoured it. I've seen all the crappy sequels, always hoping beyond hope that they would at least be somewhat good because they could never be as good as the first one. And, to be honest... I don't think anything ever will be.
I am so tired of film makers these days. It's either laziness in saying well it was popular so let's redo it and make money. Or it's arrogance in thinking they can do it better.
Yeah, I don't know whose idea it was to remake such a classic, but who knows? Watch us all be wrong and it's freaking bad ass
I feel like you're missing a conjunction somewhere in your last two words
Just wanted to thank you again, from one of your previous clips about this movie, where you mentioned the 30th anniversary screenings of the original!
The original came out only few months before I was old enough to see it in the theaters.
I've watched it countless times and still own my VHS copy that I managed to buy from a rental store, before they sold it in stores (that was a thing, I swear).
My favorite tragic protagonist ever was Robocop 1987 and the parallels are many. He's tragically murdered and resurrected to kill his way through closure. Then, they made a sequel ( not teeerrible ) and then a third ( terrible ) and then a TV series ( an abomination ) and eventually the reboot... I can assure you that even if you try to disregard it and ignore it, it's gonna sting...
THEY KEEP CALLING ME!
KEEP ON CALLING ME!
Snarky Jay. It's heartwarming to hear your passion and love for this Brilliant Movie. Can hear it your voice and well done with being polite in the video! Like me I'm sure you find it easier to tell people what swear words you didn't use when the camera is off... Heads of Studio's are just acCoUNTantS and Useless Politicians with dei staff of no imagination and spineless to real life. Anyway good to hear that the hijacked Blade is struggling just to figure out the staff let alone start filming. ✓✓✓ My Respect Jay and ' It can't rain all the time '. Cheer's Beautiful.x
Modern Audiences, so called get crap. I kinda feel bad for them. The whole beautiful goth point is lost when I see this guy who is playing him now. Vertigo Comics were amazing back in the day. I preferred Image comics (Spawn, The Maxx, etc) and Vertigo and Dark Horse in their early days. I read DC Batman and Superman titles back then along with X-men, etc, but the grittiness of the other brands I mentioned was so fresh for the time. Brandon Lee will always be The Crow to me. They tried to make more, but they never had the feel of the original.
I honestly feel bad for those who have to fight tooth and nail to legitimize things like faux Star Wars and other reboot IPs that get radically different thinking they will appeal to a generation. The key is you need multiple generations to make a hit. Not to mention true diversity, which is all people from all walks of life loving it, like Star Wars was. But, hey, Hollywood learned that lesson too late. I don't think they will ever really bounce back.
there are some movies and shows that the creators and actors nailed so well a new version or reboot will never do. the crow is among them.......
Facts with Jay
I’ll never understand WHY the did this. WWWHHHYYY?!
There was a plan for 2 films with the original franchise. Then it got the “Hellraiser” treatment. Some of the later submissions were not written as “Crow” movies, but were adapted to fit the franchise. Hence straight to video. This is a franchise that needs to go to rest. If they wanted to do an animated style of O’Barr’s original story that is about the only thing that could work. But even that has to be drawn in his style.
The original movie is so good, i get goosebumps from the scenes shown in your video. There was no need for a remake.

@ LionsGate and Hollywood... "I have something to give you. I don't want it anymore. Thirty [years] of pain all at once, all for you."
The original "The Crow" film is a classic cult movie and the fact that Brandon Lee died in the movie after making a amazing performance in the movie makes it impossible to remake!! The new movie was doomed from the start., Rest In Peace Brandon Lee 🖤❤💯
This movie is gonna release on my Birthday, oh no.
HaHa
The Crow stands as one of the finest superhero films ever made. Intense, gripping, stylish, etc. And it saw the tragic end of a dynasty that is respected to this day. The new Crow shows nothing that is interesting.
Sounds like you are describing The Flash.
What's really wild is they had all the ingredients to not only create a blockbuster, but an emotional film as well. They could've even taken a risk and have Eric just show up as the Crow during some wild fight in the very first few scenes then do his origin story...kinda like Batman (1989) where he shows up outta nowhere right at the start of the film and clobbers those crooks hanging out on a rooftop.
Thank you for saying everything we are thinking. Nothing is sacred anymore and hollywood has nothing original anymore. The Crow is Brandon Lee's legacy. It's what people remember Brandon Lee for. I mean he's other movie Rapid Fire was cool but The Crow is and always will be his. You said it best, the original should be re-released in theaters. I hope you're not using dating apps. You're too beautiful and too cool to be on those things.
Burn it don’t release it!
As someone who was almost 30 when the original "The Crow" with Brandon Lee, and thoroughly enjoyed and loved it when I heard it was being remade I was not thrilled as nearly every modern reboot or remake has been disappointments (with very rare exceptions). Then I saw stills of the new version and it made me angry that they had no respect for the original and instead made him look like the Joker from the first "Suicide Squad" movie.
Honestly if Hollywood wants to remake movies they should try and do ones that were terrible and make them better, or even look to John Carpenter's "The Thing" or even 1988's "The Blob" on how to make a great remake. Then again...does Hollywood have anyone who could do that?
More like would the suits at the corner offices of the studios allow the truly talented people to step forward and exercise full-creative control...
Brandon Lee's - The Crow was a master piece of cinematography at the time and it only reached the heights it did because of the tragedy that befell Brandon,
They will never in a million years be able to capture the raw emotions of why and how the crow succeeded like it did owing in part to how Brandon lost his father Bruce at a young age,
Hollywood does not seem capable of understanding that the movie was received as well as it was due to the fact that people were mourning the loss of the Lee's, even now to this day when reminiscing about the Lee's and their movie legacy I still feel an emmence sense of loss,
I was and am still open to a true adaption of the comic. The ‘94 version is one of my favs but it only loosely followed the comic.
I couldn’t even make it through the trailer for this “reboot”
If Snarky Jay offers you gum, you take it.. If she offers you mangled animal carcass, you take it!!
If Snarky Jay offers a strong opinion on a movie, you should strongly consider it.
Way to piss on Brandons legacy! This is beyond wrong!
I agree with EVERYTHING you said in this video! The original Crow is, hands down my favorite movie of all time. And this abomination should've never been made with "Eric" as it's main character. There are so many other Crow stores that would've done better... Just look to the comics.
O'Barr did a fantastic 4 issue run of a female Crow from the Crow Nation of Native Americans; her face make up was a black Crow silhouette: wings over her eyes, the head on her forehead, & tailgater's down her nose. It looked great! And the story was good too! That's bea great film p adaptation!
This reboot was doomed to fail. It was hopeless since its inception.
Totally agree.
Honestly, I wasn't delighted about the appearance of Bill Skarsgard as Eric Draven in the rebooted Crow movie. I always prefer the appearance of Brandon Lee!! 🐦⬛
Went to the 30th Anniversary screening and it was more enjoyable watching it on the big screen than anything I can remember in recent times. They don't make 'em like they used to.
Believe me, nothing is trivial.
Except this remake.
I have The Crow on DVD. Do you wanna go out sometime?
Stop being weird.
@@autumwho lol no
Love your commitment to the original Crow (RIP Brandon Lee). I reacted similarly to all the reboots of my favorite movies (Robocop, Karate Kid, Point Break, etc.). Sadly, reboots are the norm today. I will stick to the originals!
I went back and watched the original, it's still excellent. Then I added most of the soundtrack to my daily playlist. So good.
Skaarland is one of few actors in Hollywood who criticized a movie he’s in since Christopher Reeve did in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Too bad they didn’t try FKA Twigs to play the female Crow.
The problem with a lot of these reboots/remakes is that they keep claiming "we're not the original, we're not imitating...blah blah blah" but they are depending on the fan base to bring in the dollars. I'd be find with a new crow movie, but Eric Draven should be retired out of respect to Lee who was thrilled with the project and put his heart and soul into it and unfortunately passed away with an incredible performance left behind for a great legacy.
The new film looks like it's trying too hard already. I'll admit, there will be people that will not give this movie a fair chance no matter what. But it didn't help win anyone over with that trailer with the auto tune Post Malone, the make up, the cheesy dialog. The original had over the top dialog but it was made believable by the performances. For example, in the original when Eric kills T-Bird, T-Bird is shaking in disbelief(much credit to David Patirck Kelly's performance) "I knew I knew you, I knew...but you can't be you. There ain't no coming back!", it's a moment you almost forget this guy is evil and needs to be dealt with. Brandon just stares at him in silence but conveys so much in his eyes, it's like he's saying "it doesn't matter, you were dead the moment you touched Shelly". David Patrick Kelly brings humanity to the character with the dialog and I don't even need to go into Lee's performance. This new one, the guys like "we killed you" all monotone and Eric says "yeah, you did". It feels so video game with even less life to it.
Hollywood needs to take more risks and people need to be willing to take them as well. Unfortunately, the road that Hollywood is going, we are not going to get any classics any time soon.
100% agree. The crow is one of my all time favorites. I figured this would be pretty soul less... I wish Hollywood would cut this ish out.
Most people dont even know about how absolutely brutal O'Barr's story is. He deserves better
There were other Crows. If they really felt the need to do a new movie, they should have made it all new. The concept itself is enough of a call back. No need to drag characters back in at all.
Wearing the black dress when talking about The Crow.. well played Jay, well played
The Crow past the 1st comic would have made a great TV anthology series with each season being a different story. I'd love to see The Crow: Curare made into a show like True Detective.
All beloved IPs are on the block to be destroyed this way one at a time.
I’m starting to think there is intentional malice to it. They aren’t trying to cash out on these beloved properties but rather they want to sour all of them so that they can begin replacing them with something new that perfectly melds into the narrative that they want to push.
Movies that go fishing for a sequel don't usually end up well. The Mark Wahlberg "Planet of the Apes" was an example of this.
5:22 O'Barr himself has been quoted as saying that he wished he'd never done that first movie.
8:20 I thought it WAS marked by a theatrical re-release....has that changed?
did you know Michael Wincott (Top Dollar) voices Death from Darksiders 2?
I was completely heartbroken the day Brandon Lee died. I loved him in showdown in little Tokyo and rapid fire (not great movies but he was awesome just the same) and I watched repeat on headline news loop 15 times hoping there was a mistake and he would pull through the accident. Bought every magazine with the story on news stands to know every detail and conspiracy theory. It was a very formative event for my 13 year old self and the crow was everything I hoped it would be as a moody teen music lover. All of this to say it’s breaking my heart all over again. They shouldn’t have done this movie if they didn’t love it as much as we did and they clearly did not. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
Say it louder for those in the back! Agree with every single point youve said. Hells, I've said this for so long! This movie needs absolutely canning completely.
the truth is that there is no longer anybody who can write good original stories in hollywood for any franchises
Props for knowing about the comics! Wild Justice was ok but I think if they really wanted to do a new The Crow movie some justice, Dead Time would be a way better concept. The Crow is my favorite movie too. I recently watched the 30 year anniversary showing in theaters and left feeling like people would be better spending their money rewatching the original than this new piece of crap.
The original Brandon Lee movie taught me morality as a child
You know a film is in trouble if the star doesn't like it.
It's in the very fact that someone thought they ought to reboot the crow that they had no intentions or expectations of it being able to touch the original and they know this, leaving the only conclusion left to be that they only intended on doing it not to make an actually good film but to bank on a known IP in anyway they can. Anybody who has even an inkling of understanding or respect for the nature of something that is held as historically revered as this movie is would never have the nerve to even think about doing such a thing. It's like going up on stage during a Tool concert to pull Dany Carrey off the drums to try to replace him as Tool's new drummer because you think that he ought to be replaced with your drumming. And on top of that, not only do they not even get the right drum beats for what they're playing (because it's "their own interpretation" of his drum lines) but their drumming isn't even coherent at all. What do you think is going to happen here? So, I'm not surprised in the least bit, and this is exactly why I predicted that this reboot will inherently bomb as DOA.
He -"You feel like my person...". She - "You feel like my person..." 🤔 Hmmm where's have we heard THIS kind of SH!TE writing before? "YOU have NOT seen what I have seen"... 😏 😎🇬🇧
People forget that the crow stairway to heaven is a remake of the movie. So its not like the new one is something new.
