Given that the GS model was a *_very limited edition,_* the chances for any of us (It's my grail watch BTW) to ever own one are small. We would be waiting for that cycle you spoke of to take hold on one someone who owns one to actually put it up for sale on the second hand market and then those of us who are hawkishly watching said market will fall upon it with great enthusiasm. My collection is up to 17 watches. The top priced one is a Seiko Presage Araigaki at slightly less than $1K. It is beautiful and keeps nearly perfect time: +1-3 seconds/day. The rest are in the $500 or less price range. Each has a specific look or feel that "spoke" to me when I saw it. Some are solar (Citizen, Casio, etc.), a few are quartz, but the majority are mechanical. There are dress watches, pilot/field watches, a GMT, and a few GADAs. Of the lot, the best timekeepers are the quartz field and solar watches. They are spot on day after day. It is the mechanical ones that are +15-20/day OR -5-10/day. If I ever get that GS, I would consider my questing to be done/complete. And I can promise you I would never let it go. ;-)
@@Kurt49 Congratulations! That sounds about right for a used one and it seems like you scored a new one? As they say, timing is everything. LOL I hope you enjoy yours for decades to come.
Great video! Just picked up the sbgh311 and am looking forward to wearing it. I had tried it on at the GS boutique last year but didn’t buy it then. We have the same wrist size so am glad to see a review from your perspective. 😃
The biggest takeaway for me begin at 13:10. "...the aspirational component to acquiring gear...the upgrade treadmill...hedonic adaptation...the honeymoon period... __and then the cycle repeats__" That's the meat and potatoes philosophy of why we upgrade our EDC gear. And THAT is why your website and YT channel are successful. Because you cover both sides of the coin - need vs. want. I applaud that.
thank you for saying that! I feel like it’s not something that’s talked about a lot in this hobby but i wanted to bring it up. glad it resonated with you
thanks for watching but yeah don’t feel like you NEED the more expensive watches! buy what you can afford or keep saving, no watch is worth financial hardship
I have the sarx055 as well as a modern astron in titanium. Nice seiko are worth it. I had a sport 5 but I didn’t like the curved glass or the hardlex or size. But it was just as quality, or almost. I also have a vintage quartz one from 25 years ago that’s perfect. Next watch is a grand seiko. I’ve had and handled Swiss watches. I’ll add one or two eventually to my rotation but I think the Swiss heritage is insanely overrated. Still nice watches. I don’t care tho, because it keeps Japanese watches affordable for us.

I refuse to buy GS without a glide or tfit on the fly adjustable clasp for that price. I love the Shun bun but….

You should do a video of your watch collection! I also love seiko watches and I am looking to buy a sbh311 as well.
I just ordered the chunkiest one of the lot. Will be producing a boring unboxing video of it as usual.
I have to buy a 7000 dollar Seiko.. but I can't 😅... One day in the future maybe..
You can’t be showing all these nice expensive watches, when you have an impressionable guy like me whose wanting to get more into the hobby, watching.

@@everydaycarry yeah, I agree. But it’ll still be a grail of mine, I’ll just have to save for it.

grand Seiko
Sarb033 per 300 ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔és més exacte 500 ó 600€
It was $300 + tax when I bought it in 2018, now you’re right it’s closer to $500-$600 and I talk about that towards the end of the video
