Dang I love your videos! I like how you work through all the obstacles putting the trunk pan in without loosing your cool. This type of work takes all the patience you can muster. I’m a new subscriber and rebuild Camaro’s myself and hopefully pick up tips I can use!
Great work Jeff. Nothing like knowing when to improvise. Can be so frustrating when a panel just won't go into place or fit properly. Nice work on the jig as well.
Ya scared me when you first said you were going to change out the entire trunk pan all in one piece and this video set has shown me that my fears were well founded. My LORD that's a lot of work Jim. I applaud your pulling it off.
Looks like a lot of head starching and lots of F bombs but thank you for taking us along and showing the bumps in the road and the solutions. Fantastic to see this, cant wait for the next one!
I bet that is how the manufacturer of the floor pan suggests you change the floor, Seems cut some of the inner well and it can be welded back if you aren't replacing the with a tub. on mine I had a little repair on the inner wells but in the end it looks ok. Thanks for the video;)
I haven't done much yet, just basically removed the bumpers & trim etc.. I'm still struggling on a color choice & if I should keep the Vinyl top or not? I have a few patch panels on order so hopefully they will show up soon & I can get going on it this week.
I am replacing the rails because they are bent so I hope I can install floor from underneath without suffering through it like you did, keep up t he good work, I have learned a lot from your videos and they gave me the confidence to tackle my project
I've watched most if not all of your videos over the years, don't think I've ever heard you cuss like that haha. Doesn't bother me a bit it just surprised me cuz you're soft spoken. Keep the cuttin grindin weldin and beatin in the vids man, that's the name of the game. I learned a lot just watchin the way you work and the tools you used and when.
Thanks for watching and contributing I appreciate it very much. I was going to edit the cussing out and said "ahh whatever that's life" at the last minute and left it in.
Thanks for the vids. I’m in the process of the same thing. 67 camaro. Replacing the floor and trunk pans. It’s in bad shape. My question is, what product do you recommend for coating the new panels and do you scuff, prime then undercoat. Or can you just scuff and undercoat. Thank you. I’m a new subscriber. Hi James, I really enjoy your video's they have helped me a lot! I am currently in the process of installing new trunk floor pan and passenger compartment floor pan in 68 firebird convertible. I was noticing that it does not look like the trunk floor pan front flange came far enough forward to properly overlap the passenger compartment flange when you first installed the trunk floor pan. I am experiencing a problem where my trunk floor pan does not extend far enough to lay under the passenger compartment floor pan. When I first installed the trunk pan the curvature of the floor pan did not match the curvature of the frame rails. I clamped the floor to the frame rails and the floor did begin to conform to the frame rails. That helped to bring the flange forward. Did you have a similar problem with your floor pan installation?
McGinnis Family if I remember correctly the fit just fine make sure the pans aren’t sagging. I believe I cut the factory floor flange off in this video to help setting the trunk pan in but it’s been a while.
James Freddy great work I'm starting a Numbers matching LM1 69 Camaro I have to do trunk and floor and Im a 1 man band any suggestions on getting the trunk in without cutting inner wheel wells and if I do cut them how hard are the inners to reinstall to align the 1/4's, I am not afraid I just haven't done this work in many years
LENN Z28 I'm not sure if it will fit but if your shock mount and rear cross member are in good condition you might be able to keep them and remove the ones on the new floorpan. That might make the sheet metal more flexible but I'm just thinking out loud here.
LENN Z28 there are also partial pan available and if you're good at butt welding you could make a undetectable section repair without weakening the surrounding metal too much.

I missed another new vid. I got the bell tapped now! Great vid Jeff, some great info. It sure brings back memories of the trunk pan I put in my car.
Great work Jeff. Nothing like knowing when to improvise. Can be so frustrating when a panel just won't go into place or fit properly. Nice work on the jig as well.
