  • Step by step how to wrap a PANEL door using sticky back plastic / Fablon - whichever you want to call it 😂
    This is the fourth door in the house that i've now wrapped in D-C-Fix, so definitely have some practice behind me.
    The rolls I bought were £10 a roll, and I needed ONE roll per each side of the doors.

    Just a tip from a vehicle wrap installer. They make wrap gloves that will make it way easier. Also post heat the areas when done.
    You can get a heat gun at Harbor Freight for like 20.00 that will heat it up better.
    Vinyl wrap has a memory effect and by post heating it to the recommended temperature it will make the vinyl lose its memory meaning it won't pop back up.

      You can send your design to them and have it printed on quality vinyl.

      It's holding up ok! We don't have a busy house though, the kids are young (so no door slamming😂), and no dogs that could scratch it or anything - I got mine from B&Q, £10 a side, for door-size 🌼

  • @andreakerr8821
    @andreakerr8821 Před 2 lety

    Hello. I've just had one unsuccessful attempt! When I came to do the bevelled panels the material split. I didn't have hairdryer on highest setting so that may have been a problem. Wondering whether to do the bevelled panels as I lay the material down rather than after the material has been laid flat over whole area. What do you think? The panels have curved corners and the bevelked areas are quite deep.

    • @emmanuelmenoji7853
      @emmanuelmenoji7853 Před 2 lety +1

      I believe that's why the heat is very important, to soften the vinyl and allow it to stretch. But pre doing the bevels should also work fine but the tight seated and fine look may not be the same though.

    can you tell me where to get this wrap and how much it cost?

  • @AmarisandNeriah
    @AmarisandNeriah Před 3 lety +1

    I've started doing my doors but struggling to get the air bubbles out of indentations. Do you poke holes in the middle of the panels as well as the indents? And did you also try wrapping the door rims/frames?

    • @EllyandNelly
      @EllyandNelly  Před 3 lety +4

      Yes, as many holes as needed, you cannot see them at all once it sets down. I poked what felt like hundreds of holes into the inset parts of the door, and then if there are also any bubbles that occur whilst sticking it down on the flat areas, you can also use a pin. My biggest piece of advice would be to try and press the air out and NOT rub, as rubbing stretches and warps the plastic, and can't also create wrinkles! Good luck!

    • @EllyandNelly
      @EllyandNelly  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, I did do the edges, I found that overlapping from both sides was the best way to do that, the piece was wide enough to fold over from each side. Sealed down with heat, and then a sharp knife straight down the edge (I used to DC Fix applicator)

    What you use the material tell the name,and where where we use it

    • @EllyandNelly
      @EllyandNelly  Před 3 lety

      I used Sticky Back plastic, from B&Q, £10 per roll. You can use it on all sorts, and comes in a couple of different sizes! Flat surfaces tend to be easier to start off with, and you are always able to peel it back and retry a couple of times, to practice.

  • @UpholdersoflightMinistry

    I noticed a good number of bubbles once you finished and panned over the door with the camera, what can be done to ensure this doesn't happen? I did a door exactly the same panels with the same film and while it was perfect on day one after taking time to really stick it all down in the recesses, day 2 saw a few areas unstuck and day three even more.

    • @EllyandNelly
      @EllyandNelly  Před 3 lety

      The more pin holes, the more time spent rubbing and holding down the adhesive and the more heat applied, the stickier and more pliable the adhesive will become. Mine has come up slightly on the doors, however it actually aids to hide those bubbles even more, so they in fact look better. You are more than welcome to find me on Instagram (Ellynellysisters) and drop me a message, and I can send you some current up-to-date photos of these doors 😇

      The material will left as temperature changes, it’s because the vinyl has a memory, you need to post heat it with a heat gun to change the memory in the vinyl

      @@UpholdersoflightMinistry with a heat gun but each vinyl has a specific temperature where it will lose its memory, I wrap cars and some of the materials I use have to be above 83 degrees to lose its memory. I also wrap kitchens and avoid doors like this as they have a high failure rate.
      Essentially the more you have to stretch the film the more tension that is in it and so the more likely it is to pop out again, hope that makes some sense?
