- Back in March, 40-year-old country singer Joey Feek lost her long battle with cancer, which had been closely followed by legions of fans. Now her husband, singer Rory Feek, joins TODAY to talk about “To Joey, with Love,” a new film chronicling the couple’s emotional journey. “In some ways she’s still here,” Rory tells TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie.

I saw the beautiful Movie "To Joey with Love" last night, 9-20-16. It was written, directed & produced by Rory Feek. Such an amazing fight Joey fought to live life to the fullest & lived every day as if it was Her last. She was so full of love. Her beautiful smile, & Her love to Rory & Her amazing baby Indy. She glowed every day and put that beautiful smile on Her face in the hardest of time's in Her courageous battle against Cancer. I'll continue to ask "Why does God take the best people"??

Lori, It’s been awhile since you wrote this comment and your words still ring true to me. You said exactly what I’m thinking. “A childlike faith,” my goodness, it gave me chills when Rory said that! Thats the kind of faith our Lord wants us to all have. I long to have this kind of faith and I truly believe it’s a special gift that we all are born with. As life goes on, somewhere along the way many of us lose it. Every now and then we see a glimpse of angels like Joey. I believe Joey would be pleased to know how many people she inspires even after five years of being gone from this earth. Rory’s love for her is still so strong. May the Lord bless him and sweet little Indy. May He bless us all to have this kind of pure love in our hearts.

I suffer from a lot of health issues, and sometimes I feel so discouraged. But after seeing all the Joey went through, I am strengthened. Whenever I feel down I pray that I remember to praise Him in the storm. God bless Rory and baby Indy. Rest in heaven Joey.

I too have several health issues and she makes me feel like a whiner. I have a type of cancer that isn't aggressive in my white blood cells and I do whine but usually to my cat and dog, my family. I hope when I leave this planet, I'll go with Jesus. That is my prayer.

I just watched a video of his wife singing and it was like listening to an angel!🙏 so I started listening to more videos and watched how these two fell deeply inlove...a love that was destined to be.!! They were a match made in heaven and I hoped I would find a love so dear. On this night I just learned of Joey's passing and just couldn't believe that a love so dear could be taken away, just when they found each other and the love they had for one another. I am so sorry to hear of Joey's passing that I have no words that could make it better, other than to know you are in our hearts! ❤❤ RIP JOEY. WE LOVE YOU!! 🙏😇 & may God be with Rory and family.🙏❤

I stumbled onto their song “Cheater, Cheater” accidentally cause I love country and it has been on repeat every single day for the past few weeks and I wanted to know more about them and their songs so when I saw that she past away, it was heartbreaking. my husband John and I went to see this last night in Memphis. Itvwaa playing at one theater, and one screen has already sold out so they added a second one. We bought tickets online bcuz we wanted to make sure we had tickets. Rory did such a great job bringing Joeys life to the screen. I followed his blog Tjis life I live thru Joeys whole cancee battle. They definately shatedba love story , and the live she jas for her 3 daughters were amazing. And little Indy is so smart. Joey loves her with all her heart. I know they will see her again and I do believe she's with th everyday. Thank you Rory for sharing Jpegs aroey with us you did an Amazing job! :)

me and wife went to see show and glad we did we were also blessed to be at joey and rory last concert on there farm in tennesee in october 10 2015 even though she was not feeling well she still made an appearence singing 5 or 6 songs and met joeys father and rory sister down to earth couple and family

I totally agree Beth. I don't like country or gospel music but yet I was pulled into Rory & Joey back in 2008. Years later I found out they were my neighbors and Joey passed away just minutes from our home. I prayed and prayed for Rory, Indy, & Joey even though I'm not that much of a spiritual person. She was truly an angel sent to us and saved a lot of us and touched a lot of us. I gave up on NBC, CBS, ABC after their news turned very bad or should I say one sided. Without this youtube video I would have never seen this interview updating how Rory & Indy is doing. I agree with you that I wish the news lady would have just hushed up and let Rory talk to us.
An interviewer's job is to "draw out" his/her subject with questions--but it's an art to learn to keep them brief & open-ended so the focus remains on the interviewee & his/her original responses, rather than "painting the main picture" for the subject to basically agree with. My husb. & I have also been touched by the story of this unusual relationship... however, not sure how I feel re: people selling coverage of a marriage & family (incl. a child too young to have a choice in the matter) through various media... at any rate we hope to use their exquisitely produced "When I'm Gone" for the scattering of our parents' ashes under the Golden Gate Bridge this week, & are grateful for it.

Me and my wife saw the "Movie" today. (I put quotations because it was way too real and way to deep to call it a movie)... and I was just in awe. Everyone in the theater was stunned into silence. No one left until the lights came on. And it ended with a standing ovation. As it should have. I am not much of a country music buff and I don't watch TV at all; so I'll be honest... I never heard of Joey+Rory until today. I am a fan now!

I just love and adore this man and his daughter Indiana. I looked for new videos every day. You cannot comment on them but it is a joy to see Indiana growing up and to see Rory going through life as much as he can for his baby and family and friends. I lost my husband so I know that feeling God bless him and Indiana.
Rory and Joey are both so beautiful. The Spirit of God shines through them throughout the movie. The song, When I'm Gone" was so beautifully sung and prophetic. Joey allowed Christ to bear her burden and with such peace and grace she lived, in spite of was was to come. I am still crying. What a testimony of true faith!

I cannot begin to fathom how you must feel ; we lost our Dad on the 5th of November 2015. I am still not able to speak of it; without breaking down. I watched the trailer for the upcoming movie tomorrow, and started weeping immediately. Cancer has no prejudice, and strikes with no warning. There are no words to bring comfort to the souls left behind; as you know. We grieve for ourselves I feel because it isn't time for us to go with them. God bless you each and every day , Rory.

A baby with Downs Syndrome is not a death sentence. They are beautiful. I was 40 years old and going through my second pregnancy. The genetic testers wanted to find out everything but I was having none of it. My child was going to be who he was going to be and I was going to love him no matter what. I only have my story but during my lifetime (I’m 63 now), I have seen my fair share of Down Syndrome children. I’d adopt every one if I could. They are a special kind of beautiful! 💖

Then they had a beautiful wee baby girl named Indiana, that they call Indy. She is such a cute wee girl loves cuddles.lts so nice to see Rory talking about his getting on with his life with Indy.They made such a careing couple so much in LOVE. I am reading Rorys life in every time it is documented on You Tube. It's a hard life for Rory but you never here him complain.❤❤❤❤
