  • A meteorologist reporting on a tornado was worried about what was going on at home. James Spann of ABC 33/40 was warning his viewers of tornadoes ripping through neighborhoods in Alabama, when he realized his house might be in the path. So he texted his wife to warn her. He kept viewers updated throughout the live coverage, which went on for hours. He even stepped away from the broadcast for a while and returned with another update from home. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more. #InsideEdition

He is absolutely amazing, as a forecaster and a person. He takes his job very seriously and has dedicated his entire career to helping keep the people of Alabama informed, prepared, and safe. He knows every single road in every single city, even in the towns I've never heard of, and he knows specific landmarks in those towns right off the top of his head without referencing maps! The amount of lives he has saved is probably astronomical at this point.

As someone who watched this live, he was worried about his wife but he was so dedicated to the lives of people in central alabama. He has saved my life a time or twenty and I know he has done the same for others. If there is such a thing as an angel on earth, james spann is one of them. We truly love and appreciate James here in alabama.

We Alabamaians love and adore James Spann. He and his team work continuously during severe weather giving frequent updates and bouncing back and forth between two, three, or more areas with tornadoes on the ground or a possibility of one. He's a great meteorologist and we absolutely trust him. If he points to your town and says to get in a shelter you do it no hesitation, doubts or need to be told twice.

I was in the Shelby county area and actually heard the tornado passing over my house while watching James on my computer from my friends basement. James is truely the best meteorologist in Alabama and has helped both me and many other people when it comes to saving our lives in situations like this.

He is the best meteorologist in Alabama. Most Alabamians in the viewing area trust Spann because he knows the state like the back of his hand and calls out neighborhoods and other landmarks in the path of these storms. He cares about the people of this state, and the fact that he continued to warn others throughout the day and evening all the while his house had just been hit and his wife probably frazzled shows he is a true professional. When it comes to severe weather, I trust him with my life. Many Alabamians do, and he takes his job very seriously. He has saved countless lives through the years. James Spann is the man!
