    That was a useful explanation, thank you. I always try to save Miele vacuum cleaners i find at the "recycling" centre. My latest did not run...good, i like that. I followed the same steps as you, switch, power cord, connections and finally the motor. Hopeful that it was just the triac i was disappointed to find the other component had shorted. I now think this is a diac, used to trigger the triac and maybe serve as a fuse. No way have I been able to find a replacement diac, mine is I think a Philips (marked Holland). I shall just have to wait for another Mielle cleaner with a working motor! ps this machine died through using generic bags and was filthy inside. Warning to all users of Miele, not worth it to be a cheapskate.

      Great comment. In fact in my fairly long history of repairing Miele vacuums I also had an example of damaged one due to cheap replacement bags usage. So thank you for mentioning it. I also had one that needed entire pcb replacement due to burning damage.

    Have a similar problem you might be able to help me with so I have 230v to the triac board thing and only 20v on the pins coming out of this tested motor direct with 230v and she runs so looks to me like it's the triac thing what u think

      Sorry, but I'm no electrician so don't know for sure, however it is worth checking considering cost of triac to cost of new vacuum;).

    I have a Miele S8790. I have removed the motor from the casing. I have removed the centre nut in a clock-wise direction). Over the top of the motor is a metal casing which seems almost impossible to remove. Have you any hints / secrets on how to remove this round metal casing. I can send photo if required. Also, to stop motor from spinning I inserted a small screw driver in between fan blade. I mildly bent it out of shape. Is this a future problem looming. Thanks.

    Hi, I am looking for the thermal sensor or switch part number 3MP2190 which apparently is difficult to find on line and in my local electronics store. Where did you find yours? Thanks

    I am curious if you ever repair a circuit board of a C3 or S8390 Miele model vacuum cleaner. i was trying to diagnose a non-working C3 Miele model one, but ended up burning two tiny fuses where the main power wires come into the board. I need to know what value of these two fuses are in order to replace them with. There is NO schematic diagram anywhere for Miele vacuum cleaner S8 model online. Would you ever done similar thing like that or would you have a circuit diagram for a Miele S8 circuit board by any chance? Thanks

      @@weekendwarrior_ I replaced the other temperature chip and now the vacuum cleaner Miele works again. You are the only one on CZcams who talked about replacing the two temperature control chips. I was encouraged by your youtube and replaced it. Everybody else in America told me to replace the entire motor, and i did not.Instead, I bought the chip after waiting having to wait for it for three weeks. Thank you for posting your youtube

    I agree with your comments about excellent Miele products and enjoyed your video. However whilst using our S370 model this morning it just suddenly stopped working. I checked the obvious, replacing the fuse in the plug, but this didn't solve the problem. Do you have any idea as to the cause? I'm not afraid to take the thing apart! Could it be the foot-operated switch?

      Hi Andrew, thanks for you comment. In regards to your issue it depends if it stopped during using it or simply did not start one day. There maybe a lot of reason. Sorry for starting with obvious but overheating due to blocked filter or bag, or using non original bags so the triac burned out. Switch can also be a reason that can be checked with a simple multimeter. Also the cable can be damaged. You just need to go step by step and check everything. From my experience the only issues I had that affected functioning was the triac. But once it was shorting due to water ingress (wet floor). Please let us know what caused the issue once you find the reason.

      @@weekendwarrior_ Thanks so much for your helpful reply. Unfortunately it went into my SPAM box so I have only just seen it! We in fact threw away the vacuum cleaner yesterday !! and in the meantime bought a new one (Complete C3 Total Solution) direct from Miele UK with a generous 50% discount - our old one turned out to be 18 years old (doesn't time fly!) but may well have had many more years of useful like. We are non the less very pleased with our new machine - it does you good to have a change occasionally! Many thanks again, and keep up the good work.

    is the circuit for soft start or variable power? i have an old AEG and i bypassed the controller, so its full power all the time, its been fine for the 10 years since! ahh i saw the end, yep the same deal as mine, but i never used lower power, max all the way!

    • @weekendwarrior_
      @weekendwarrior_  Před 6 lety

      Jusb1066 it is variable power, it is handy from time to time, but it was not the variable resistor that was faulty so I didn't have to play with the circuit board...it is above my paygrade anyway;) I'm thinking to introduce one to my cattle though since it has very load start/finish audio. I would like to make it quieter. AEG used to be a good company before the name was overtaken by Electrolux if I'm right.

      aeg got sold to china, my other vacuum is a british electrolux, still running, both my vacuums are from the 80s, perhaps they both sold out to china!

      Jusb1066 it is possible or they lowered their quality to decrease price.

      certainly aeg powertools were sold to the same company in china that make ryobi, no longer german

    Hello! Do you know if this will work with the upright Dynamic U1 HomeCare PowerLine? I vacuumed over the corner of a shag rug and ever since I can’t get the vacuum to turn on, just the red light. It’s been a couple weeks so I know it’s not just overrated

    • @weekendwarrior_
      @weekendwarrior_  Před 3 lety

      Hi, sorry but I do not know but considering that Miele often uses the same motors across different models it is worth trying in my opinion.
