    This tutorial saved my butt when attempting to replace the powered hose AND the updated circuit board that fits in the Capricorn canister. Super clear instructions. Love the mallet trick. Works like a charm. Thanks a ton!!!

    thank you. I had it half apart and got stumped by the hidden screws and how to get to them. This video made it really easy to finish the job - getting it apart and putting it back together. The problem was a small moving address sticker found its way into the motor compartment, resulting in huge noise and loss of pressure. Bought this unit in 2011, after returning to Australia after 15 years in California. Hopefully it will last another 10 years! It is a great machine, which is the reason we bought it. - I think we paid about $600.
    Thank you for creating this video, it is appreciated.

    In a world where Apple (and basically everyone
    else) design products that are sealed and deliberately designed to be non-serviceable
    - Miele is kind of an odd duck. So thanks
    for taking the time to make all these great and very detailed videos.

    I appreciate this video. I have this exact model. It was a floor display when I bought it, and unfortunately it has had several ongoing issues, the hose of course, and now the reset light stays on. I'm handy, so I don't have any issues taking it apart, but it's always nice to watch someone knowledgeable doing it first, which you have done for us.
    The only thing I still don't quite understand is why the circuit board has to be changed with the hose. I went to a dealer, and he put on an identical hose on my vacuum, and it worked perfectly. I could see changing the small circuit board in the handle, as the problem with mine seems to be that those copper connectors keep sliding off the connecting metal rings. I hate to buy a new hose and board just because of that, but I have't figured away to keep the connectors from sliding off, as there is only one screw on the end holding them on. Either way, great video. I think I'm going to take mine apart just to give it a thorough cleaning and look at that reset switch.

      How’s it working for you now?

    • @thehonestman26
      @thehonestman26 Před 8 měsíci +1

      It's working "ok," but it still cuts out if I make sharp turns in another direction and then kicks back on. It would probably benefit by switching both the hose and board, but I haven't convinced myself that that's something I want to spend the money on. I'm at a crossroad of what I want to do. On one side, I feel if I'm going to spend $300 on a hose, maybe it's best to just apply that towards a new vacuum. The other side, however, is I really like having the controls on the hose and from the last time I looked, I would need to get one of the higher-end models to get that same control, which is a lot more than $300, so I haven't figured out what I want to do. Any suggestions? Thanks for the reply. @@Jet_Threat

      @@thehonestman26 My friend is a Miele/vacuum repair guy. I sent him your messages and he said this:
      “Ok, the reset light may be more for the motor is warn.
      I have replaced the motor without having to do the main PCB( board)
      For the handle, the copper connection may need to be rubbed with 70% iso alcohol and have die electric grease applied. 98 percent of my fixes have been just that.. you can gently... I mean very gently try to get them connection to sit back into a proper position... but clean the rings and check the wire harness that connects to them. They will tell you a lot. You just have to inspect them.
      I have never had to replace a pcb board in order to get a hose to work. Generally, there are connection where the lid meets the chasis they never really get damaged unless you throw it around.
      Give it a little bit of tlc before you spend more.
      If you're buying new... they are expensive to essentially replace what you have.”

      @Jet_Threat Thanks so much again, very kind of you. I have cleaned the rings a couple times with the alcohol, although I have never added grease to it. Interesting. I'll play around with it again when I have a minute. Appreciate your response.

    I disassambled S5210 (same case for 5000th series) and saw a hole above rear wheels, and inside was some dusty. Because the wheels contacted with a dusty carpet.
    Tell me please To Exclude suction through it, whether to close these holes? One hole for a cord will be enough.

    This is so awesome. Watching this convinced me to buy a used Capricorn for only $180 with all the original parts. My reel is working fine but there's a nick in the cable that's making me consider what's possible. Do you know if there's room to switch the cord out for a longer one?

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  Před 2 lety +1

      There's one cord that fits on that reel in Noth America . There is a lot more to just changing on a cord when you're adding length to a retractable cord system. The spring and reel need to be engineered around the length of the cord.

      No . but there is a problem with stressing the C3 hose too much at the base by the canister where can cut the wires inside the hose. My understanding is this has been solved by Miele now

    Who cares how much it costs to fix the hose, people should expect a expensive machine to be expensive to repair. I consider that common sense.
