@@karlsimmering460 Hallelujah was never released as a single, just a video of a live performance, but still very good. They already reacted to When The Party's Over, the Billie Eilish song ST covered in the deluxe edition of Sundowning.
I think the video is the creation of Vessel. The apple and heart are them giving one to the other. Vessel offers up his heart where sleep offers him knowledge. The apple from the garden of Eden.
yeah the moon is featured heavy here as is the apple. the moon is on the front cover of the TMBTE and is often referenced as the egg of creation by tribal cultures. and the Apple is seen on the TBMTE video held by the winged figure. The apple also being linked with eden. its like to think its all not by chance. pure art.

My 1st thought was, "Omg, it's baby Vessel's voice," lol. So crisp and clean.
You're onto something with the apple and eden. That is why in The Offering (the offering in this video is an apple) he says, "take a bite".
Make sure you do the LOATHE COVER.....that's tear jerker for sure... It's called: Is it really you? Loathe is still in the background of the song but Vessel is singing. Its gorgeous especially in headphones... also NAZARETH I have not seen anyone react to that and it's SHOCKING I mean... the lyrics... you'll have more questions then you ever had before...

There's a kind of magic to these older tracks. They feel unrestricted, completely free of expectations, and so it allows you to really get sucked into their sound.

Vessel had a plan for the trilogy from the beginning. People talk about the ep's being the prequel, Vessel meeting Sleep.
You're onto something. Eden. This is the beginning of vessels journey with sleep. This is the "exchanging of vows" per say. Before the trauma. Eden.

Words can’t describe how excited I am for you guys to cover “Calcutta”. I’ve always set that song aside for some reason. It’s an absolute masterpiece.
Also Some people say that the EP 'One' is actually 'Sleep' communicating with Vessel for the first and only time, which is why the falsetto is so present.
I like this idea because it’s so persuasive. Like “come on, you know you want to…”

I absolutely adore the way Vessel sounds very noticeably younger in the older songs
I think it's safe to say that Vessel had a vision from the beginning that concluded with take me back to eden in a beautiful way.
I love One but I must say Two is my favorite out of the EP's. They also have the piano version for One on bandcamp and they're absolutely GORGEOUS and, in my opinion, ties in more with the Eden concept

Yes! Back to the beginning of everything! Vessel is born, Sleep is showing herself, the journey is starting, and we can enjoy pure magic.
I'm 64 and studied Western Lit for decades. Vessel uses classic European references in his lyrics. The Candle can be knowledge, spirituality or hope. The Apple has been used as the symbol of what Adam and Eve ate in the garden of Eden. Historically, classically Eden is said to have been where Iran is today and the Apple originated in the same area. Trading a heart for knowledge in the light of the flame can be argued to be a depiction of Adam. Vessel is saying that his engagement with his love interest is the same as losing his innocence towards knowledge aka sin. It's the price of admission into humanity. And since this knowledge brings death the heart withers just from that but also it can wither from love and devotion that's not returned.
Sleep Token at their darkest and most delicate. Love it.
Kyle is 100% correct, we do not deserve this band. They are so good and have been since their beginning. Just pure quality from the start. And think that the more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know is part of what makes them so damn good and what keeps people coming back for more and more.

I do believe this is the exchange...the heart for the apple of knowledge. The entity in Take me Back to Eden's video is vessel "godmother rise up...I need you to see me for what I have become." He's holding the sickle in one and the apple in the other, but he traded his heart/soul for it. TMBTE in the end is the longing to go back before all of this happened
... not knowing you were innocent ... not knowing how cruel the world can be ... not knowing you were naked and free...not knowing you were already in Eden. That's just my little take.
Is It Really You is in Sleep Token's discography, but you guys should listen to Loathe's OG version first! Both are wonderful!
I had to listen to the original Loathe one to appreciate Vessels cover, personally, but I do love both!!

The EPs are excellent but very “bare-bones” sleep token. You hear the vision. You see the lyrics. The genre bending is there. But they really refined all aspects as time went on. It took me a few listens to actually fall in love with the EPs
And the EPs being the way they are just show how ahead of their time they’ve always been

Sleep Token's first ever song: the birth of vessel
The best part about Sleep Token is finding more songs that are just as good or better than the last. They bring it every single time
Early stuff needs 2-3 listenings and you are completely addicted to it😁 Pure music meditation.
It's also wild to think that this was when Sleep Token would tour with a 5th member that did the keyboard playing in songs instead of what we have now with Vessel playing those parts.
No clue what you're talking about dude, it was just Vessel then II joined for Two, Sundowning, etc. Now III and IV started as just touring musicians for TMBTE and we'll see if they become permanent members and contribute to the songwriting for whatever comes next. There has never been a 5th member and Vessel has always done the piano/keyboards.
@aleasha.k.b In 2016 they actually did have another member. She toured with them a bit and played keyboards and did backup vocals. Including her, they had one prior bassist and one prior guitarist who left when the pandemic hit. (You can Google her at the expense of learning her real name. She has dreadlocks and wears a solid black mask that mimics Vessel's first half mask.)
@aleasha.k.b Actually, here.... "Annina Melissa was one of the original Sleep Token members. She was a pianist, keyboardist and backup vocalist from 2016 to 2020. Melissa was a member of the She Must Burn band, of which (II) was also a member of."

@aleasha.k.b If you google Annina Melissa, there are actual photos of her on stage in full costume. I know reddit isn't considered a "trusted source" but given the mass amounts of reddit pages dedicated to unmasking the boys, showing photos, and giving out their personal information, (people can find dirt in a snowstorm) you can also find info on Annina. As well as Sam Kubrick amd Jasper Lyons, their former strings.

I think Sleep Token are intentionally enigmatic and also purposefully leave the art open to interpretation. That is why we all have more questions the more we listen. It’s part of the art itself.
The 6 songs on both EPs are legitimately S-Tier Sleep Token Songs. I found Sleep Token at Sundowning (randomly heard The Offering and fell in love), and still find myself coming back to the EPs and singles the most

Vessel's old band released a whole bunch of old songs. Unfortunately, looking up that band will unmask Vessel (Spotify unmasked Vessel for me bc they added the songs from his old bands ep to my Daylist and I thought it was mayhaps new Sleep Token and the artist credits were RIGHT THERE 😞)

Wait is that why EP 2 is written by II only? I don't know and EP 1, but I do know the songs on EP 2 are only written by II. Am I wrong????
@@bonniebennett6866 as far as i know ep2 is still written by both vessel and II, though i think what you might mean is that on some of the songs credits on certain platforms it only lists "Vessel_2" (II), im fairly sure this is just in reference to the official lyrics and posting being done by II, not sure though as without looking into stuff i dont like too its very hard to tell
The live performance of "Hallelujah" is a must as well.

Well this stopped me in my tracks! Wasn’t expecting it, but love this song and can’t wait to see the reaction, especially as it’s the first song of theirs!
Speaking of their Bandcamp, there are piano versions of the EP One on there and they are absolutely beautiful, so make sure you don't miss out on those. If not for reactions for the channel then for your personal listening pleasure. I didn't know these existed until recently, but I am so glad they were brought to my attention.
Their cover of Loathe's Is It Really You is definitely in my top 3 ST songs. I have listened to it every day for the past 4 months! It's just so hauntingly beautiful! Can't wait to see y'all react (especially Kyle). I just know he will appreciate the piano work!!
Fields of elation and When the bough breaks are amazing and some of my absolute favorites by them. Is it really you? Might make u cry. Calcutta, Jericho and Nazareth are kinda in the same pocket of their own but amazing songs as well obviously.
I love One. Sets such a stage for the rest of ST but also stands so we’ll on its own. What an amazing first EP. Love to honor where it all started. So many interpretations of this one too, they really nailed this art form

The apple is temptation (Take a bite!) There is a heavy emphasis on Vore (the fetish involving eating another, or being eaten by another) throughout the catalogue. Hence, the apple, heart, apple. That's how I see it.

I actually got goosebumps just seeing that you heard and reacted to this. The beauty of Sleep Token is truly in the eye of the beholder. They have their interpretation of their message but allow the space for listeners to make their own conclusions. It’s a fine tight rope to walk especially considering their musical excellence. I truly appreciate you two for examining as much as you have. You’ve allowed us Sleep Token fans to get as close to listening for the first time again as anyone can and that is priceless!
