Chinon Sound 8000 Super8 Cine Projector : restored

Another broken piece of cinema history restored. New belts, cleaned, new halogen optic lamp, motherboard re-capped with new capacitors from RS online RSPRO and brought back to life in 2024.
I put it through it's paces with about a couple o reels by now and i can say it runs great !
On a side note : a huge shoutout to Edwin Van Eck from @VanEckVideo for hooking me up with a Super8 cartoon reel with sound so i was able to test this little projector !

Capacitor set :
I've ordered my capacitors through a trusted wholesale electronics source : RS online. However, as most capacitors require a minimum order of 50 or 100, i decided to create some capacitor kits. These come with photo's and placement of the caps as well as the orientation of the negative side.

The piece that advances the film frame by frame in the gate. Some projectors have 2 teeth that engage the sprocket holes to pull the film downward to place the next film frame in the gate. My Chinon 8000 only has one tooth on the pull down claw.

I have checked both the 7000 & 8000 model. The part you’re referring to has 1 tooth in both models. This part looks to be driven by the center shaft which holds the fan, wormwheel etc… and seems to be held in place by a spring against a round grooved plastic wheel on the same center shaft.

I've been having trouble with mine since I messed with the speed pots. Can't get back to correct speeds. Film will not run through the gate and maintain proper advance from frame to frame. Is the pull down claw one tooth or two?

I have a chinon sound 7000 that it's basically the same with this one and it has one tooth my friend. Unfortunately mine is broken and I can't find replacement for it. As you can understand mine is completely useless. They are uploading videos and they don't bother to answer my friend.

Hello, i have both succesfully restored a Chinon 7000 & 8000 back to working condition. ‘They’ are not here, it’s just ‘me’ ,and i have alot on my plate. Please explain what you mean by the ‘pull down claw’ term. Let’s see if we can help eachother out😊🤷‍♂️
