You didn't mention that only Cellular iPads have built in GPS, which is a must when you use it to operate your drone. It enables you to set the homepoint based on your precise position - it can save you a drone in some situations.
Good point. Your home point will still populate, and it will still come back to you, but the interface won’t load.
Bought a used iPad Mini WiFi-LTE a couple months ago for use with my Mavic so it would have GPS, went to phone store and added it to our unlimited data plan for $10/month. why not. Good video
I bought the cellular version thinking I would be able to make calls. It’s very disappointing that you cannot make calls from the cellular version.
Sorry about that
😲😲😲😫😫
I was wondering about that.
@@billykyle but we can use jio4voice calls in indian sim I watched one and works in another video
There’s FaceTime calling
Thanks..you vedio really helped me taking a right decision of buying a LTE ipad...
I have a tablet it's not an iPad but he has an LTE signal to and that's amazing when you're on the go I need to upload those files real quick you know you're going to get the job done.
One reason I like having a cellular iPad is if I’m doing a long road trip and I want to watch a movie or CZcams, I don’t have to turn on a hotspot, and If I’m in a hotel room, I don’t have to ask or pay for wifi. Also nice if you’re a driver, you can pull up Google Maps or Waze and plan your route.
Can you do text and call on lte
Thanks for the Video.
My iPad mini 4 used to be on cellular, but when I switched carriers I never got it connected. I don't seem to miss it at all. You make some good points, but you expect more out of your iPad than I do. Most of the time my iPad is on my home wifi network, or on something like Starbucks wifi network, and it work greats. And even using the Hotspot on my phone, it's fine. And I'm sure if T-Mobile has the same data limits as Verizon does while using HotSpot.
Very helpful explanation.. it makes me decide to go with LTE one
@CartoonDude I believe you can use wifi with LTE model. It's same like mobile phone.
Wonderful video. I really needed that break down. I do have a Apple ipad and I'm not a Apple fan. I got it for my DJI drone and it's the wifi ipad. I have been thinking about the cellular version and your video here was right on time clearing up some of my questions. 👍
Good vid. Thanks
Great video, we decided Cellular on the Way, for the convenience factor...
Does your home button also sound a bit weird. It's like when you click it down and it travels back up i makes a pretty loud sound. I returned the first iPad and got this new one, but they sounded exactly the same.
I have uploaded a video on my channel, if you want to hear the specific sound.
However my friends iPad Mini 5 Wifi does NOT make this noise and is alot more quiet. Could it be the cellular models have a different build?
Thank you for the video. You answered a lot of questions I had regarding using an LTE iPad. I work in the real estate industry and having the ability to access properties on the go is indispensable. Thanks for helping me make up my mind. I’m definitely getting LTE.
I bought the 7th gen iPad cellular version along with my series 4 44 mm an my iPhone XS Max and one xr
If you buy a cellular version , Can you still use wifi or you just use cellular data ?
I agree with you Billy. I have a iPad with LTE and its totally worth it.
Is it similar to cellular phone plan? Like do you have to pay a data bill every month or does it just come with cellular built in?
Yes
If you have a cellular iPad and you're also connected to Wi-Fi will it default to the Wi-Fi or to The Cellular connection so they can charge you for the data?
Great video. I’ve had a wi fi only iPad Pro , first gen that just died.. Never again.. what a pain in the butt wi fi only was ..
I don't understand what you mean burn through the personal hotspot data?? There's no limit as far as I see? I checked with several providers here in Sweden and none of them have any limit in place?
Can I put my Verizon phone sim and insert it the iPad and have it work ?
my options: | this ipad, | iphone se 2020, | android + ipod . I'm trying to decide - what to choose
For me I say go with the cellular version always connected everywhere.
That extra cost isn't worth the price. Just buy a mifi router and tether your WiFi version to it.
@@benzemamumba I tried that before had to always worry about charging the MiFi 😢 just something else that you have to pay more money for and watch something else that you have to look out for the battery overheating trust me. It’s just better to have cellular no matter what you can go and say all this other stuff but at the end of the day, there’s nothing more convenient than just going everywhere and being able to use your ipad just like a phone it will also preserve your phone life battery and save your phone. Take the stress off your phone. I don’t know. I’m loving my cellular Wi-Fi iPad.
Stupid question but if you buy an lte version can you still use it as wifi only until you purchase a data plan? Like you dont have to have a data plan to set up the device?
Yes
Can you connect your ps4 with this i pad network 4g
can u make call...?
hows the call quality?
I'm curious as to the GPS tacking by tethering your phone to your ipad. How accurate is it and is there any noticeable lag when using a WiFi only iPad (without GPS)?
I know I’m late to the party, but yes, it’s extremely horrible and extremely laggy. I’m talking like it will tell you to turn five stoplights later then you should have laggy
Hey can I put an xfinity mobile sim inside my ipad
I have a doubt, does it automatically download ios updates when data is turned on?
It really annoys me in my ipad as when I travel I connect it to my mobile hotspot and sometime it exhausts my data by automatic downloads even when off! ( right now I use ipad wifi)
Frustrate you can’t turn that feature off by going into settings > ITunes and App Store > toggle off the ‘automatic downloads’
My name is Sovan and I just ordered a few day now and it got trouble use it my iPad 10 (generations) with cellular, but can’t text or sending a message to no, one
I have a dedicated mini and turned it off to save the 20 a month. Wifi only works for me.
I use about A TB a month
Hello Billy Kyle please could you let me know if I got a cellular ipad and payed the $20 per month LTE how many hours of CZcams will I be able to watch each month, I don't want anything else other than CZcams, I'm hoping you will say more than 60 hours per month. Thank you.
One question what gigabit LTE actually deliver. I believe only 5G wireless have that capability 1.2gb
LTE Gigabit is achieved by doing 4x4 carrier aggregation + LAA (your phone must support 4x4 carrier aggregation and LAA, also LAA is not available everywhere)
That’s an insane amount of Data usage🤯🤯
With that amount of usage, that means wifi service is not needed. Lol
I just go with the one that has both
Cellular is right if you travel around town a lot. And you want the much better performance using cellular LTE than just tethering with your iPhone 📱 for casual web browsing.
Great video...you covered all the key considerations for general use. For drone pilots another consideration/advantage of LTE is always having access to Google maps for flying. Obviously you can pre-load your maps from home with WiFi but I've found myself having to fly in a different location then I originally planned because of conflicts (field is in use...soccer game in play) and as a result not having the Google Maps that I needed pre-loaded on my Tablet. Yes I could use the tethering feature to download the maps to my tablet (assuming I'm not over my tethering data limit) or simply use my phone to fly instead but that's not always convenient to do so (e.g., my FlightPlan only exists my Tablet).
Get wifi anywhere you go!
Can you make calls on your iPad mini 5 with LTE?
No you can't.
With a voice and video communication app? Yes.
Without using voice and video communication app? No.
Why doesn't anyone show the cellular apps on the device vs wifi? People talk more than show the features of cellular to make phone & SMS capabilities.
4:47 it is synced
I won’t be wasting my money on a cellular iPad unless it comes with calls
I use Skype, I have a phone number and everything and can call anyone. Only $3 a month.
@@PlzCa1mDown that's not the same as a regular voice call.
Yes
Hi! For the cellular version, can you make/receive phone calls & text messages? Hope anyone can answer this.
Did anyone answer this question? That is what I was wondering.
Guess no one did 😅
But I went to Apple Store three weeks ago, and they said that you can't make/receive phone calls or text messages. Its only intended for LTE services. Guess that answers my own question. 😁
No actually, it works as a 4G dongle of sort. Therefore it can only be used for data connections, but not as a cellphone.
@@benzemamumba I see, that clarifies it then. It could've been great if you can use it for calls and texts as well... Thank you!
hey can you use the ipad as a normal phone if you have the cellular version? can you send messages to non apple users like a normal phone?
Frederick Becina Encio No you can’t. Only internet based messengers work.
Frederick Becina Encio If you have an iPhone you can. Setup message forwarding
Cellular iPads have a lot better Anntenna system I can get all bars of service on my iPad and my iPhone had no service also my iPad is a hotspot 😁
Same here too
Can we call from cellular version of ipad?
You can one whatsapl
Thanks for info.
Hritwik Kushwaha yea and you can call but you have to have a SIM card
@@sandrausa5494 okay, but i already buyed samsung s6 lite three days back😅
Hritwik Kushwaha kk
I got a brand new IPad Air 3 with cellular for $489 at Microcenter before taxes.
You missed a big difference, GPS. Wifi does not have GPS antenna
Not sure where you got that info. I have a WiFi only iPad Air and it has gps.
mark vangorp found on the net The Mini 5 retains the same Lightning charging port and TouchID for authentication. Like with other iPads, you can upgrade to the model with Cellular data for an extra $130, which also adds an internal GPS antenna.
mark vangorp does wifi model of ipad supports hotspot connections?
That's definitely not true.
I have 10 GB hotspot with Verizon.
Will that be enough for watching CZcams and movies?
277kne no
Christian Arcos Go with a T-Mobile cellular iPad. You can watch CZcams and it won’t go against your data plan, T-Mobile has unlimited data plans
Don't know what I miss spelled. Thank you for the advice
@@Snakeyes11123 Thanks for the advice. Verizon gave me 15gb hotspot now. Probably not enough.
Do you put a sim in the iPad ?
Yes
@@billykyle how please explain
I would go with a surface. Nothing comepairs to using a full operating system instead of a tablet OS.
That’s what I hate even about iPadOS. It feels like it’s being limited
Janecke
Not quite , limited to 32bit apps is not the real answer .

Wow you use more data than me
Dude I think you need a cellular iPad to get GPS for droning. I believe non-cellular iPads do not have GPS
It will still set the home point, the interface just won’t populate
That's a very niche use case, one that doesn't justify the extra cost.
Can we install whatsapp in ipad LTE?
No, whatsApp for IPad is still not a thing.
Buy out right and only pay $10 a month on Verizon.
But with the cellular version? Can the wifi version have internet on its own connecting it on a carrier? Sorry if this question seems stupid
@@rickyrodriguez9057 yes
Done my internet’s cost more and is capped Ditch the internet I going cellular
Can you make calls on it?
No
Wow you people are behind in the USA in Europe I don't have this
Voice crack 8:00
Oops
If you buy a cellular version can you choose to have cellular off and on whenever you want, Or cancel cellular anytime you want ?
TheRealMorganFreeman
Yes you can
Just tether it to your phone or just buy a mifi router.
Can mobile hotspot give same power like cellular
@@Buddhawmagar most often it's even better because it's a dedicated networking device and thus supports a significantly wider cellular network frequency band range.
@@benzemamumba more expensive than a data plan by the time you spend all that money on that router you could’ve just bought that one time with the cellular model and it’s just one more battery that you gotta keep charging one more thing you gotta look at one more thing you gotta lug around think about it if you ran out of hotspot on your phone and now you’re limited to only your MiFi router now you gotta carry around your phone and your router and your iPad I mean come on now at some point, just get the Damn cellular. I don’t know fan for me. I record music and I use my iPad to record. Music is my portable studio so I always need a connection no matter where I’m mad. I can’t be trying to start a session or on my way to a session and then connect to Wi-Fi or have the producer And everybody waiting for me while I try to connect and shit I mean wow smh
Hihihihihi🤣😂😛 data is much cheaper in India.
I live in India and if I buy an ipad 7th gen wifi + cellular then for recharging my sim it will take only $2.66/month = ₹200/month, that why I am proud of India🇮🇳 jai hind
