Another note to make regarding folks who need the gps (truckers, etc.): Wifi iPad models use Access Points (APs) to infer your location. Accurate enough to get around, but still not 100%. That being said, doing whats mentioned in this video using a hotspot, is essentially a dedicated AP so as long as you have a data connection over the hotspot, your ipad will be able to cache your route, and keep up with you.

I bought the cellular iPad mini 6 bc I noticed there was no gps on the wifi model. There was some lag issues when using the hotspot from my iPhone on the wifi model. So with the cellular model I have smooth gps coverage, but the tablet data plans are too much for my budget. I am using hot spot from my regular phone with T-Mobile, and it works perfect for gps navigation or music. The points made in this video are valid, even if I did have cellular on my tablet the service will only be as good as my iPhone.

Hey there! I’m not familiar with cell coverage in NY, but I’d say it depends on how often you think you’ll need a cell connection. As a student, I imagine it may make more sense to get it if you’re constantly on the move.

While, I fully understand your point. Disagree with you 100 percent and, I always ensure my basic iPad models come installed with the cell data option. My current model is a basic iPad 9th generation with storage of 256GB and, it is paired with a Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard. Unlike most, my android phone is only used as a back-up to my iPad which, has unlimited data for $21 per month (smile...smile).

I don’t know if my comment fits here, but in my case, I have an iPad Air wifi that I paired with my iPhone 12pro. I didn’t feel that it was a reliable and stable connection.
I also bought a iPad mini with cellular for content viewing and the 5g blazing fast compared to pairing to my 12pro.
In the video, it was mentioned that 5g was a negligible difference is wrong.
Again, my comment is for my iPad mini with cellular and I couldn’t go back to an ipad without cellular.
Time is money, and 5g has the speeds to make me forget I’m spending for it.
