In 2024, EVH will once again challenge the “norm” with the introduction of the SA-126 Special, Wolfgang Van Halen’s interpretation of what a modern guitar should be in the 21st century. SA-126 is the very definition of innovation incarnate. It’s a hybrid between semi-hollow and solid body guitar: think chambered/center block solid body blended with a bolt-on neck, then kitted out with features most frequently associated with high performance guitar brands such as a slim neck, jumbo frets and higher output pickups.
Here is a quick look at the features.
The all-new SA-126 features a Mahogany body that is chambered, with a basswood Centerblock added for stability and tone. Capped with a maple top on solid finishes and quilt maple on transparent finishes w/ 5 ply body binding, this thing emits “TONE”. The neck is a 22 fret 12”-16” compound Ebony fingerboard with jumbo frets and triple block inlays on a graphite reinforced mahogany neck. With a scale length of 24 and three quarters… this feels like a modern - classic that is familiar and comfortable. Finally, a spoke wheel truss rod adjustment at the butt end of the neck for easy adjustments, on the fly.
Introducing the EVH SA-126 bridge and neck pickups created by Fender’s resident pickup designer Tim Shaw and the EVH team, they can handle just about anything you feed them. From the elegant sound of cascading-glassy cleans to a heavy bath of Overdrive to “Burn” that will satisfy the most discerning gainiac. Three-way toggle at the upper horn to switch between bridge, bridge and neck, and neck pickups as well as two volumes and two tones to control each. Other features include a Harmonica bridge and stop bar tailpiece, oversized strap buttons, and keystone tuning pegs.
The SA-126 Special comes in 4 finishes. Tobacco Sunburst w/ Gold Hardware, Transparent Purple w/ Chrome Hardware, and Matte Army Drab as well as Stealth Black w/ Black hardware. Finally, this also comes with the SA126 Hardshell case that is wrapped in Ivory vinyl and has blue crushed velvet interior.

these are the EVH guitars I have been waiting for as I am a hard tail guitar guy these look sweet hope to get one!
Same here and although I owned an EVH Wolfgang I'm not into using a Floyd Rose. Was hoping for a hardtail to appear again as they had hardtail solid body Wolfgang before but this seems nice and something to put on the another guitar list

Oh yes. I think I need this one. Well done Wolfgang! I saw Mammoth WVH supporting Alter Bridge and the whole band were incredible. He’s a talent to be reckoned with. No surprise given his pedigree, although by no means is he emulating his late, great dad.

All of the color choices rule. I'm torn between the green and sunburst. This guy has done his due diligence in providing a good demo. I really enjoyed the playing.

Now THAT'S a freaking axe. It's woofy, but in a good way? I haven't actually seen the entire video yet (so this may already be the case), but I think replacing the tone pots with high pass filters would be a great idea. I can't imagine people are going to even touch those tone knobs.

As both a massive EVH and FF fan, I like this and the epi DG335, would like to see a comparison video but at the moment I think I would lean toward the SA126
waiting for the hot-rodded hollowed body.
I like it. I see potential for me to find my own sound. I love Ed’s gear but when I play the Relic I tend to play that style. When I play my PRS I tend to follow a certain style. My Jim Root Tele, I play more metal. But this I think I can just play. I like that idea of no expectations.

It is beautiful. I wish manufacturers would figure out a way to make satin paint stay that way, with no shiny spots. My stealth got shiny spots after a half hour of playing. I was pretty disappointed
It'ld be cool if EVH made something like a modified Gibson TP-6 but with the ability to add the D-Tuna on it for the SA-126
alright look I can't play the guitar. i've had guitars since I was 13 but I never learned and I never commited to it enough. This thing is really doing it for me though. Someone hook me up with this thing in the army drab and I'll owe you a life debt.

They are direct mounted into the body. The rings are just for looks.

Those guitars kick ass no doubt Wolfgang nailed it with them being out maybe the price will drop on the Wolfgang specials are even the Frankenstein but i anyways have been a fan of the semi-hollow body guitar going back to Ted Nugent in the day and he always rocked his birdland Gibson and that was always my dream guitar but they're so damn pricey that they're out of my budget but one of these I think I could swing that 🤘🏻

Just looked it up, 1800-$1900 for what I am assuming to be an import? That’s a bit much. My American made Jackson Virtuoso was $2100 and my Japan made EII HorizonIII was only $2200. I have an EVH as well and even though I love the idea and the pickups give the expected tones I wouldn’t pay that much for one. Just my two cents.
With that said, as always Dagan you made it look and sound as if it’s worth every penny and it may very well be.

Dagan, in a head-to-head, how would you describe the SA-126 vs Grohl's new signature? I mean, two fresh new takes on semi-hollows within six months... How do they compare to you?
Totally different beasts. The Grohl is a classic Trini Lopez, which is awesome. The SA-126 is feels like a hot-rod guitar, it's super fast.
I want that guitar. Soooo sexy, but to expensive. All of them become greedy.

I think it’s priced reasonably and it comes with a nice case. Most guitars made in Mexico are shipped with a gig bag or no case at all.
on the evh gear channel the burst looks way way way better than this "production" version. also it is a completely different type of burst. why they introduce a model with a versoin that is not offered.
Great demo and great looking axe, but damn man. $1800usd retail for a MIM with no stainless, no locking tuners, no special electronics. Not a great value piece that's for sure.
oof that's a lot for a Mexican guitar....I find that the fender Mexican stuff is well made but the wood isnt treated right and they ALL get fret sprout real fast. This having a maple neck...Id worry about that for $1800

Hey, Dagan here. There has already been tonnes of Wolfgang’s without trems. Even Ed played a fair few, even the famous D2H Wolfgang counts as ‘no-trem’ 😉 🤘
