Already three months into 2015 I finally get out for a decent tour. Today’s trip takes me around some of the gritstone area of the Peak District, known as the Dark Peak.
Filmed in the Peak District in the county of Derbyshire. Locations include Bamford, Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, Snake Pass, Glossop and Longdendale.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
"Open Up Your Mind" composed, performed and sung by Patrick Leach.

Bamford looks a lovely village, Patrick. I've been through the area on the train, but not in the actual place itself. The views of the reservoirs are marvellous, all connected, there's a fair water supply when full. Glossop is another place I have been to in the past, but not around the town centre. It looks very good. I trust that it is you singing, Patrick, you are talented, as well as your music skills. Many thanks for this video showing.
Wow this is nearly 10 years old now, can't believe it. Glossop is a great town, always love going up there. Yes that is me singing, as credited in the video description. Thanks as always Ffranc for watching 👍
Very nice Patrick you must have a interesting job when you get to travel around see are the beautiful place . When I moved to Canada in 1975 I traveled all over Alberta working in the oilfields it was great way to see it take notes then go back later for holidays .Have a great weekend stay safe.
I'm still doing the same job now and it is nice to be able to travel all over Derbyshire. Hope you had a great weekend too, Many thanks 👍
You're really good at producing the music to create the right atmosphere I think Patrick ... I've not commented on this one but have seen it quite a few times now... I really loved this Snake Pass traverse and the music you put with it.
My dad in Liverpool used to tell me he had driven along the Snake Pass road in his job or for a day out. So this is showing me the sights and sounds of what he must have seen.
The only thing I knew of Snake Pass was from Wainwrights guide to the Pennine Way. So we didn't see much of it when doing that with friends ... And I'm now a Southern Softy and things like wind and skies that don't look like they are turning blue scare me, hehe. many thanks Patrick.
Thanks David, nice to know you've enjoyed this one. This is over 8 years old now of course, but I'm pleased you enjoyed the music especially for the Snake Pass scenes. I drive over that way a lot when I'm working and always enjoy the trip. Thanks again and all the best 👍
@@solitaryrambler thanks for the reply Patrick. it's nice to know you drive there. that's amazing. I may take a trip to it one day to remember my dad, when I'm seeing my mum in Liverpool. Enjoy the week. bye
My dads favourite walk was around The Derwent Dam and Ladybower. I’ve walked it a lot. The Dambusters Museum at the end of the dam is worth a look. Just a wonderful walk.Great music too. I went to a Tin Town don’t know if that’s the same as Yorkshire Bridge. Ive walked all three reservoirs and have a fascinating book called The Silent Valley about the villages. In Baslow is a house named Ashopston. The owners family rebuilt the house in Ashopston brick by brick there. Great to walk ot again with you.
Thanks again 👍
absolutely breathtaking views. Amazing part of the world. You are so lucky to be there.
Thanks again Lina. Cheers, Patrick :-)
It is good to know that you have traversed on some of the paths that I myself have also walked. We both appreciate good scenery and a decent beer I think.
👍
Loved it.. Many thanks..
Most welcome! 👍
Lee has described you as all singing all dancing I had to correct her as theres been no sign of dancing lol ... Once again Patrick , very enjoyable , I especially loved seeing The Derwent valley Reservoirs , What magnificent pieces of stone work they are.... I travelled this area durimg the 1970,s on rail rovers and the Glossop triangle including Hadfield was one of my haunts , I d travel to a place called guides bridge too , where electric locos , were kept , which travelled through the woodhead tunnel to Sheffield ..Happy train spotting days they were ....As always thank you Patrick ... Frank and lee ...
Well I was dancing, but I had to cut those bits out as the film would have overran!!! :-) :-) :-) Pleased you enjoyed this one again. I planned on including Hadfield, but there was no time in the end sadly. However I'm more than happy with what was shot this day. The final shots at Crowden were filmed just down from the Woodhead tunnel. Thanks for watching Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)
Very familiar with all of these places so it was great to see you here, learned a lot of new stuff too.
Great job with the music as well.
Thanks Patrick,all the best.
Pete.
I was beginning to find the right format with the films in this one, can't believe it was 4 years ago that I went out and shot it, time flies! Thanks Pete for watching and for commenting. Cheers, Patrick :)
I used to go to the acoustic nights at the Globe pub whenever I was in the area:) Glossop is a great town and has a really friendly vibe. I grew up in Disley which is close by until we moved to south Wales and....like you got to experience Chepstow comprehensive school :)...(I quite liked it there though). These are great videos!
Thank you for your great comments! Yes Glossop is indeed a nice place. I know Disley too. Watch this space as I'll be posting a video in the hopefully not too distant future that was filmed very near there :-)
+Blackbooks78 Well if you are ever in Glossop on a Tuesday evening (Acoustic Night), come along to The Queen's Arms in Old Glossop.
Really cool project Patrick. Lovely videos, incredibly admirable consistency and so impressive that you even score your own films! Great work 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks for your kind comments and for watching 👍
liking the song.
Many thanks 👍
@@solitaryrambler It is like the words are for me.
Can anyone walk on the dam?
I think you can walk on part of it but not right across.
