Rachel had my friend on her show as a kid chef before he died really young and she came to our little city for his funeral and I’ll always respect her for that. RIP HC
I love that story, and now Rachel for it. To this day, I can't lay eyes on Ina Garten, because of her double snub of the Make-A-Wish kid who wanted to cook with her on Barefoot Contessa, back in 2010-2011. When my daughter would be flipping channels, she'd quickly move past it, lest I see it and tell that story again!

I've just discovered Hot Ones and am working my way through the catalogue. This was a great one, Rachel Ray seems genuine and down to earth and I loved how her and Sean were yelling-talking over the pain at the end.
I like how he matches the energy his guests bring. If they are calm he is calm but I enjoyed him getting into it lol
He is one of the best interviewers, in my opinion. Thoughtfully composing his line of questions and always bringing the best in his guests.

I think Racheal Ray wins. She beat everyone ever on the show. She not only ate all the wings, but tasted all the sauces on a spoon first. She didn't have any milk and she didn't even promote herself at the end. I thought she was corny as hell before, but she won me over 👌👍👏

I beg different. If you ate the wing, you have to chew it while felt the pain from the hot sauce all over its crunchy skin. While if you test it directly, you just focus on the hot effect. For me, there's no "the best" but all who pass it, with or without sweat & tears.
Ben DeGorro fat from the chicken makes the hot sauce stick around on your tongue longer, as will milk. Best thing to eat to soak up the oils from the hot sauce is a piece of bread. The way she did it made it relatively easy. Looked cool though.

Also want to see her bring those awesome custom wings, they sound amazing.
For those that don't know, the skin on the chicken wing actually will soak up a large amount of sauce. If you toss them & set them on a plate, it'll only take 5-10 minutes for it to be pulled into the skin completely. If you put them under extremely bright lights & sit for more than a few minutes, they will appear to be bland & sauce-less ... Hence why they don't look like there is anything on them
If you "trash" wings, you are soaking the wings in the sauce for a minute or 2 & then tossing it back in the fryer. The skin absorbs the sauce & when dropped back in the fryer, the sauce is fried into the skin of the wing.
*Side tip for breaded items" Heavy breading, with a preferable egg wash but marinaded boneless chicken works, & only 30 seconds. The more you soak the breaded items, the more the breading will crumble off
You can use it to layer many sauce combos together. Soak them in your favorite spicy wing sauce, trash them, & then toss them in your favorite sweet wing sauce ... You'll be in spicy, sweet heaven that you created yourself. I like to do a 11 minute bake, soak, 4 minute fry, & then toss process for my favorite wings. The meat tends to be juicier while still having the crispy skin

After the bomb it didn't show her spoon at all. I think she ditched the last two sauces and just acted like she did it.

To be honest, The Bomb doesn't have any flavor to make it's heat worthwhile. Heat and salt are all The Bomb has to offer.

The trick to eating the forewing (?) is getting it cooked enough so that the meat lets go of the bone. Then all you have to do is separate the 2 bones on 1 end, and give them a twist (1 at a time). They'll pull right out. I can do it in about 5 seconds.
Right? What kind of chef doesn't know how to eat forewings? They're my favorite part, you get more wing when you split them.

She's been fighting that battle for years. Fried chicken isn't exactly salad calorie wise. Asking people questions before they can even swallow doesn't exactly help them to look dignified either, and it may have been that.

This was a cool episode, it was interesting how she went in there tasting the sauces by themselves and talking about the flavor profile and the ingredients and acted for the most part like she wasn't even feeling the heat. Respect.

If you pay attention to the Scoville rating differences between what Rachel and Gordon tasted, you would notice a big gap; the last dab on Gordon's part was 2.000.000 on the Scoville, Rachel's was 550.000 units, so it's almost four times stronger, that is a hard fact. Just go ask Kevin Hart if he would do it again!

I'm not a Rachel Ray follower but this was my favorite Hot Ones episode yet. She described all of the sauces so well! And she had interesting commentary. AND she did all of the sauces off of a spoon, BADASS! Think I'm a fan now, she seems very authentic.
