I think any champ has a chance as a support if you're playing them.
I actually thought as soon as I saw his spotlight before release that he'd be a surprise support pick. Kind of like Ashe. Glad to see that it works exactly like I thought it would lol.

The best thing to remember is that Smolder's Q procs the minion execute AND gives him a stack for it so if its more beneficial to execute a minion over getting the support item proc via poke then you don't have to worry about missing out on a stack.
also Bloodsong WILL lock you out of sheen items so Za'zak's is generally better if you plan on getting a Sheen item

Hey Ioki what do you think of a Leona buff say she can solo proc her passive if no allies within 600 range does increased jungle dmg and her w explosion does increased jungle dmg as well like Morgana I feel even as she is she's a sleeper jungle. Pls tell me your thoughts
Yeah, he's for sure support, he absolutely blows on core role,and didn't scale from items at all, ppl build tank/burn mage items on him, but why pick him if u can pick any nornal mage ?
Because of the aoe and extreme dps on late, if your team lacks late game, also steal a posible pick from enemy team.

Holy smokes that was an infuriating game to watch. I've seen grass with more situational awareness than your team man.
Firstly, love the video, I was very skeptical of Smolder support going in, and oh my you proved me wrong. Loving the cute dragon content atm. All my friends hating on the champ but you make it look effortless! :)
On a different note. I’ve been struggling with picking engage champs (Rell in particular) into Caitlyn/Ez who can net/blink as I go in. And now I’m nervous all engages look like they’ll end in loosing half my hp with no cc landing. I’ve ended up playing passive and just playing for bush control and vision.
Any tips to 1-get over the fear. 2-how to make these engages successful e.g, hex flash out of bush into a false engage to bait out mobility skills?
I’d be really interested to watch a video of how play in a similar match up. I’m not against the idea of getting coaching but I don’t do ranked (just draft with a 4stack usually) and I’ve got so much to improve on (objectives recall timing) which I’m learning from your other coaching vids, that most of it would be uncoachable.

Ive been playing Smolder support on Quickplay after watching you and Its really fun! It easy to get kills to your ADC with the poke and safe disengage. I like going Mandate into Blood song into wheatever team needs, there are still a lot of items I wanna try yet. He is also really good anti heal user, even Shurelya's felt good on him now that is not a mythic. Thanks for the videos! I actually think he has a lot of potential too.
Given that he's deceptively strong early, I'm not surprised that he makes for a good support. Since he's so mana-hungry, though, it might be worth it to go Manamune if you want to use Bloodsong over Zaz'zak's Realmspike, which I think would have the added benefit of applying on every Flap "attack," which might make it actually do damage. I'd also like to see an Energized build, since his Q matches his AA range and would be able to proc the Energized effects, and the attack speed on those items would allow him to weave autos inbetween Q's and let him utilize Navori Quickblades better for lower cooldowns. But that's just me. Either way, eager to try this with my duo :p
Edit: Flap only procs spell effects once per target. :')

considering that he scales based on hitting enemies with abilities even more than off of items, he's actually the most meta a support can get
i trying smolder supp with: comet + font of live. Mandat + sherylda/rylai ( for more slow, and more ways for aply font of live) and other items like situational XDD.
I can get behind a baby dragon support. Haven't gotten straight-up cutie since Yuumi.
I have a Senna question. I've been watching Prof abuse profane hydra lethality build on Akali. Would it be a decent item on Senna? I know the active is a bit shorter range than she likes, but the passive serms nice.

advice, I have been playing him as a support, magic footwear and aprox velocity are wonderful on him, prioritizing movement speed with lich bane and then cosmic drive gives him the ability to go in and out and stack his passive faster, deal damage and remain relevant during the game. 72% wr on him as supp by now.
Played 2 normals as Smolder supp, won both laning phases easy - against Morgana and against Maokai. And it was a lot of fun. Won't play it in rankeds as long as nobody else does it. But do we really need Essence Reaver? Smolder supp has no mana issues, as he doesn't farm. Would lethality work?

even on KR High Elo they start with W and doran ring. I`m just waiting for i0ki to make this video and yeah it really has a good potential.

played him as supp from day one^^
had the same primary runes, but domination secondary. for the build i ended up playing Rylais > imperial > mage items. tested some stuff, bot only ap items, not the ad options

You ever played Kayn support it's pretty strong in my opinion right now because Kayn gets form quicker than Jung. Like 7-15 minutes consistently.
7-15 is a pretty wide range

Maybe if you are with a support/adc senna (she farms until smolder complete support item, and then she buys the support item)
idk if it was you playing it on the support role, I think it's a case of player diff. I mean, you WERE exerting a lot of pressure during the laning phase.
Even though you did great in this game I do think smolder support is just really bad in most situations. It worked here because they had a tanky support you could stack your spells on but if they had a poke lane of any kind you wouldnt be able to walk up without dying and would have pretty much no pressure all of laning phase

the premise seems to be like an AD Veigar with mobility, I'll have to give it a try, I'm a supp main, and I was dreading having to play him in ADC while I watch my supports feed cause they're all auto fill in my ELO.

played it insanely good but i think the big downside of these "supports" is adc dmg. Won lane so hard than kaisa did very little dmg. While someone with peal might make that kaisa 1v9. Basicly swappad your role lategame to adc and delegated adc to side and waveclear duty
