If you want to hack lane phase, grab doran's ring to start, go w,q,w,e,w 1-5. Sit back, poke champs and soften waves with w, don't ever trade, and farm stacks with q. Always try to send the w through the casters and a champion if you can manage. If you're landing a lot of W you can toss a dark seal in there to really step on the gas. Or not. The rest of the build is as you would usually go, but this makes lane phase much easier, b/c w has such a long range. You can also go comet, which is a guarnateed hit with w's slow. Optimal is proably fleet footwork though.

This also makes lethal tempo a reasonable option on him too depending on the comp he's versing, since he can stack it up with autos and Q and both those benefit from the range extension

When smolder E times out, or is canceled, inside terrain, and is forced out, it counts as a dash and can be stunned by Taliyah E 8:14
More E (flight) tips:
--Spear of Shojin's passive instantly procs 4 times on the first hit of E.
--Flying through a wall does NOT give vision of enemies in bushes.
an interesting note for Smolders q is that the fireballs it creates can also proc on-hit effect like grasp, heartsteel and the tiamat items

I imagine the RFC interaction with Q + AA is similar to the Sundered Sky bug where if you shoot off multiple autos or Q + auto in this case before the first lands the bonus from the item doesn't get removed in time.

its probably not intended, but smolders E will also currently reveal any stealthed target if they are the main target of his E, meaning if lets say a lone teemo was stealthed in a bush, it will reveal him and hit him for some odd reason
Riot will remove it in the next patch for sure!

Yuumis basic attack healing passive works with smolder q and everything it hits. If you hit a good q you heal for 30-60ish early game.

One tip I can share (I saw in a video). You can impact your R against an enemy more fast if you use it backwards near the enemy. Bc if you do in the common way, its take longer time to cast and hit the enemy, give them a chance to dodge it.
But if you do it backwards, the cast take less at the beginning of the range of the ability and your enemy can't see where it gonna lands before you press it.

Also, You can cast abilities during E, but it will cancel any remaining shots you had left.

Bro the fact that yasuos wall can block a literal dragon breathing fire from _above_ is absolutely ridiculous and nonsensical
The reason why rapid fire q into autoattack both get the extended range is because the q dosent land before smolder autoattack. Rapidfire's passive only goes off only after the attack lands

I got the riot quote first time when taunting and didnt get if for the rest of the game and I thought I was delulu... ty
as i realized while playing the champion u get 100% move speed while using ur E only on ur base move speed not bonus move speed
He is reminng me a lot of Ezreal early to late game,his Q scales on hit his W deals slow which is different E is a doge that has more dmg than Ez,and ult is same but can crit,over all lane phase is same,play safe,use E when not safe,wait ganks or teamfight and benefit off it
While the Q counting as an auto sounds sounds amazing for something like PTA, the best runes to use are arcane comet, manaflow band, absolute focus/transcendence, and scorch with biscuits and free boots and for first item you buy doran's ring then dark seal on first recall, as for abilities you take W > Q > E and put 3 points in W before maxing Q, taking ult when possible
The reason for that is: Smolder's earlygame is miserable normally, using that build your poke game becomes pretty insane, you try to hit as many people with W as you can for damage and stacks and once you get 25 stacks for the AOE Q you can W > Q casters to one shot them making getting stacks super easy
Im new to the game, learning the champ because he actually looked fun AND fair and not some bullshit halfmap instakill snipe perma stun champ.
I always thought i should use my Q and then maybe fit in an autoattack, but it makes sense to do it the other way around.

3:44 incorrect information: play with comet, start with doran ring (buy dark seal before ad to keep adaptive power in early to ap) and put 3 points into W in early. You won't lose any early trade

3:33 while his range is definitely low (500, which is the lowest for ranged autoattackers if we don't count urgot and pre-lvl18 gnar (gnar range scales with lvl up to 500)), comparing it to cait's is rather weird since she has the highest range at lvl1

Hello, if you press smolder E, you can see talon in his ult, and viego in his smoke. So E ability reveal invisible champions. You did not said that

Smolder E gets stopped when hit by Trundle Pillar or Anivia Wall.
Smolder isn't weak in lane. People just play him wrong.
Run Comet, max W and start Doran Ring + Dark Seal on first back
i feel like they might have to buff his E, it does not deal much damage and its only for a really small timeframe. imo either buff the duration or the damage OR make it stack his passive faster, like 1 passive stack per bolt hit or something. Why does his E not proc onhit when kata passive, E and R proc it or akshan E also procs onhit? would be an easy change to make his E more rewarding.
For sure, his E stacking would be too much tho but making it deal more damage or increase duration would be fair

No, he is not an auto attacker. Think of him more like Ezreal. You neither want attack speed nore magic pen. He only dies around 10-15 % magic damage.

best tip i can give is dont play hp stackers against smolder, had a cho gath game where i had like 15 stacks and around 7k hp and he was doing nearly half my hp in true damage (3k true damage), truly a smolder moment

why doesn´t kraken slayer work well with him i tested it in practice tool and the extra on-hit dmg works on his q aswell and the stacks for kraken slayer also stack with q.

crit items suck in general and he also doesnt have much crit or ad scaling in general, they also dont give haste which matters the most because you need to spam your true damage Q or provide utility with W or escape/chase multiple times in a fight with E

his E crit ratio is completely irrelevant as E does 0 damage anyways and also the 30% crit scale on his Q isnt that impressive either

This video is inaccurate about Smolders main poke, His q is NOT his main poke. Nor should it be treated as such. Even when going AD smolder, have arcane comet as a keystone, make sure you have mana flow band and scorch, in secondary runes make sure you have presence of mind, start dorans ring and get dark seal as your first back. START W. Your w when it lands will give you your early stacks before 2, and hits like a freight train vs level 1 champions especially with scorch. Aim it to push lane towards level 2 first and aggressively SMACk enemy laner(s). You're welcome.
