Nice job, the yellow stripes and head are a nice change to the usual unpainted look that for example gransford do with your design if you drop it in the woods there's a good chance you can find it again. Respect from Ireland.

I am aware of steps to take to reduce the chance of that happening, but with everything, experience is vital. What are some tips you have learned that are less obvious to those that are tinkerers at best? Again great work. I hope your channel takes off.
Thanks a lot for your comment Frank, I really appreciate your compliment. When I'm sanding, I can constantly feel the temperature of the axe head in my hands. If it's cool enough to still hold, then the temper/hardness isn't being ruined. Right at the cutting edge however, the temperature can increase very quickly considering there isn't much material actually there, but what I don't really show on the video (I suppose I should in future) is that I'm actually taking it very slow, and being patient, as well as periodically dipping the edge into iced water to keep it well below any temperature that would ruin the temper. When you're in the middle of sanding, its really important to take your time, don't apply too much pressure and allow the grit of the belt to do the work. You can also see if it's gotten to hot as the steel's colour will change at the cutting edge, although if this happens, its probably too hot already and the temper would be ruined. So my humble top tips - be patient, take your time, always be aware of the temperature of the work piece, and frequently dip the edge into iced water. Hope this helps!
